Chapter 1979
Chapter 1979 Heather Is Here
By dumb luck, Magnus had somehow crossed paths with an incredible woman. Unfortunately, he hadn't known how to cherish her. Instead, he'd gone ahead and used the emergency funds to invest in a deal.
"Don't worry," Sven told her. "I'm not going to have you do anything illegal. Just follow what I say, and you won't need to pay the money back.”
Denise felt the weight of the favor. She couldn't ignore it, especially not when it was a hundred thousand. She nodded. "All right. As long as it's not illegal, I'll do it."
She wasn't willing to cross any lines, and she couldn't afford to mess up. If anything happened to her, who would be there for her parents?
"Okay."
Meanwhile, Magnus had managed to get his hands on a batch of goods and was now trying to find a buyer. His phone had died, so he didn't see the call from Denise.
His plan was to flip the goods quickly and use the profit to help Denise cover her hospital bills. He had it all mapped out in his head. The only problem was, he had underestimated how tough it would be to move such a large quantity all at once.
Meanwhile, back in Tudela, Cecilia had heard the full story from Sven and sighed. “Magnus really hasn't changed one bit. Let him hit rock bottom this time."
She never thought he'd actually take the money meant for Denise's parents' treatment and keep doing business like nothing happened.
"Yeah, he really crossed a line. I've met Denise. She's a good person," Sven said.
Cecilia gave a small nod.
The workday was over, and Cecilia hadn't returned to the hospital yet when she got a call from Charlotte.
"That old hag showed up again, Ceci."
"Who?" Cecilia asked, confused.
"Magnus's granny," Charlotte replied.
Cecilia didn't understand why Heather was back again.
After wrapping up at work, she headed first to the Smith residence. Heather stood outside, bundled in heavy layers, her hair a bit of a mess, arms wrapped around a big tree like she wouldn't let go.
Charlotte looked helpless. "You're being unreasonable! I'll call the police on you."
"Go ahead and call! I'm here to see my granddaughter. That's my right,” Heather said shamelessly.
Just then, Cecilia got out of the car and took in the ridiculous scene. As soon as she saw Cecilia, Heather finally let go of the tree
"Ceci, you're back." Her face lit up with a smile. Heather shuffled over to her. "I missed you so much. I came all this way just to see you. But this stubborn girl wouldn't even let me in."
She pointed accusingly at Charlotte, her tone turning sharp. "You really think you're anything special? You're just an employee. You've got no sense of where you stand.”
Charlotte's face turned red, too angry to speak.noveldrama
If Heather had been younger, maybe in her thirties or forties, Charlotte would've snapped back already. But the woman was easily in her seventies or eighties. She found herself helpless against her.
Cecilia brushed off Heather's hand without hesitation.
“Lottie isn't just my employee. She's my friend. Don't point fingers at her."
Hearing that, Heather forced a grin. "Cecilia, you're still too kindhearted. Always spending time with people beneath you. That's a bad habit you picked up out in the countryside. You really ought to fix it."
Cecilia frowned. She had no interest in being lectured by Heather. “Cut to the chase. Why are you really here?"
Cecilia knew better than to trust Heather's sudden displays of affection.
What do you think?
