Chapter 537 The Weight of Regret
Watching Nathaniel walk away without a backward glance, Grace felt a deep chill, her body shaking uncontrollably.
The necklace Nathaniel had torn off her neck left a sharp, stinging pain.
In that moment, Grace finally grasped the reality.
The handsome, wealthy man she had admired was nothing more than a cold, heartless beast. Only Freya seemed capable of taming him.
Her dreams of becoming Mrs. Morgan were shattered; she was merely a pawn in Nathaniel's strategy to handle his marital issues.
Koen approached Grace. "Ms. Grace, please give me your account number and name a sum."
Grace, on the verge of tears, reluctantly pulled out her phone, found her bank account number, and shoved the screen toward Koen. "Here it is. But let me tell you, if I'm not satisfied with this 'compensation,' you'll regret it."
Koen chuckled softly. "Don't worry, Miss Grace. Mr. Nathaniel has never shortchanged any woman when it comes to money."
Nathaniel got into his luxurious yet understated Rolls-Royce, with Koen taking the driver's seat. "Where to, Mr. Nathaniel?"
Nathaniel leaned back in his seat, exhaustion etched on his face, his heart feeling utterly shattered.
Since Freya's release from prison, as all the truths had emerged, Nathaniel had sworn never to hurt her again.
Yet, their relationship had deteriorated to this point. They hadn't even had the chance to enjoy the sweetness of marriage before being crushed by harsh realities.
Nathaniel realized that the young woman who had once admired and trusted him would never come back. Freya had changed; she now viewed him with suspicion and guardedness. Still, she had crossed a line.
She could stop loving him; she could even hate him, but she couldn't blatantly flirt with another man right in front of him.
"Mr. Nathaniel, where to?" Koen asked again, gripping the steering wheel and glancing at the weary man n the back seat through the rearview mirror.
He couldn't help but sigh inwardly, recognizing the mess Nathaniel had made.
"Take me to the Vanara villa," Nathaniel finally responded.
Yes, back to the Vanara villa, where he could at least remember the happy moments with Freya.
With the thirty-day cooling-off period nearing its end, it felt like a curse closing in on him, driving him to the brink of madness.
He had no idea how to resolve their marital issues in such a short time. Letting go was something he simply couldn't do.
Koen's phone rang just as they stopped at a red light. He steadied the steering wheel and answered the call. It was someone from Pontenero.
"Mr. Koen, we reviewed the
surveillance footage from Mr.

Nathaniel's, apartment in Pontenero There's a segment we think Mr. Nathaniel should see personally. Also, the police have decrypted
some images from Luna's phone. They involve Mr. Nathaniel and Mrs. Morgan."
"We can't make any decisions here, so we'll send everything to your email. You
can show them to Mr. Nathaniel."
Koen was taken aback.
Important footage from Mr. Nathaniel's apartment?
And something involving Mrs. Morgan?
The ongoing conflict between Mr. Nathaniel and Mrs. Morgan was
largely due to those distressinetnoveldrama
events in Pontenero. Could there be a misunderstanding?
Koen knew he couldn't hide this from Nathaniel. The last time he concealed
Freya's call, Nathaniel had nearly beaten him to a pulp.
What do you think?
