The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 536 The End of the Line

Nathaniel's search of the garden proved fruitless. Freya had already gone.

Sawyer and Mandy were also missing, presumably having left with her.

The garden was in full bloom, with the strong scent of flowers mingling with the evening breeze. Despite the warm summer night, Nathaniel felt as if he were in an icy wasteland, his heart feeling utterly frozen.

"Mr. Nathaniel, you're moving so fast. Wait for me!" Grace finally caught up, with Koen following behind.

"Koen, call Freya," Nathaniel instructed.

He was aware that Freya had blocked him and likely hated him right now, but she probably hadn't done the same to Koen.

They needed to keep some form of communication open, especially since Freya needed his consent to finalize the divorce.

Koen quickly dialed Freya's number, and she answered after a moment. Koen handed the phone to Nathaniel, who took it and said, "Why have you blocked me?"

"What's your point, Freya?"

Freya collected her thoughts and replied, "Blocking someone is my choice. I don't owe you an explanation."

"Nathaniel, we have thirty days to resolve this. If it's too troublesome, we can finalize the divorce tomorrow. It would be better for both of us. You're busy and don't need to waste time on this relationship."

"Is this really how you're handling things?" Nathaniel's anger flared.

"Is our relationship not important? Over the past year since your release, how much have I invested? Can't you see that?"

"Are you really making a fuss over Sawyer?"

"Besides, you're the one who betrayed our marriage. What right do you have to end it? Do you really think you have the right, Freya?"

Freya's frustration turned into a bitter laugh. "Nathaniel, I know you're hard to deal with, but you used to be reasonable. Now, you seem completely unfair."

"Who has truly betrayed our marriage and torn apart our relationship? It's always been you, not me!"

Nathaniel was left speechless. Reflecting on their past, he realized that he was indeed the one who had wronged Freya.

Nathaniel had initially misled Freya, using her as a means to deal with the Gomez family and falsely accusing her in connection with Abigail, which led to her imprisonment.

Despite his repeated apologies and deep regret, Nathaniel was increasingly anxious about Freya pulling away from him.

The more he tried to hold on, the more she seemed to slip away, like sand through his fingers.

But Nathaniel couldn't let go. Freya had become the central person in his life, and he felt he couldn't live without her. The brief time without her felt like a torment, making everything in his life and work seem unbearable.

Freya sighed and said, "Nathaniel, you're too controlling."

"You never really listen to others. In your world, your rules are the only ones that matter, and everyone else has to comply. I'm exhausted, Nathaniel. We should end this."

"Freya!" Nathaniel shouted before Freya abruptly ending the call, as if continuing the conversation would be an affront to her.

Nathaniel, furious, threw his phone against the wall, breaking it into pieces.

Koen, watching this, was distressed. That was Nathaniel's new phone.

Koen noticed that since Nathaniel started dating Freya, there had been

a significant amount of damage to his electronic devices. It was clear that Nathaniel's emotional struggles were affecting his possessions.

Grace observing the scene realized that Nathaniel still had strong feelings for Freya.

His behavior seemed to reflect a childish, immature attitude.

Feeling uncertain and out of place, Grace looked at Nathaniel, realizing her

situation might not be as desirable as she initially thought.

Nathaniel turned to her, his gaze settling on the unattractive gold necklace around her neck.

"Account number!" Nathaniel's voice was rough.

Grace, confused, stared at him, unsure of what he meant. Koen clarified, "Miss Grace, Mr. Nathaniel is asking for your bank account number."

Grace's expression turned worried as she nervously replied, "Mr. Nathaniel, what are you implying?"

Nathaniel, now clearly irritated, told Koen sharply, "Pay her."

Grace tried to catch up with Nathaniel but Koen stopped her.

"What's Mr. Nathaniel's intention?" Grace asked, clearly frustrated.

Koen replied calmly, "Miss Grace, Mr. Nathaniel is offering you compensation for your efforts."

Grace, outraged, retorted, "What kind of compensation? Do you think I'm some sort of call girl?"

Koen maintained his composure and said quietly, "Miss Grace, let's be honest. Mr. Nathaniel and Mrs. Morgan's relationship is not something you can intrude on.”

"Name your price, and Mr. Nathaniel will pay you for your time. It's better to accept the money and step away rather than risk offending Mr. Nathaniel. In Seville, crossing him could ruin your career. Taking the money is the sensible choice." Cóntent belongs to

Grace, her heart pounding, realized the gravity of the situation. If she continued to cause trouble, she might quickly fall from favor, with no chance of recovery compared to the reat financial giants of Saeville.

Reluctant but realizing the danger, Grace removed her high heels and chasednoveldrama

after Nathaniel on the cold, hard floor.

"Mr. Nathaniel, Mr. Nathaniel, I genuinely care for you. I don't want any money; I just want to be with you."

Nathaniel paused his steps, and Grace, sensing a glimmer of hope, felt her excitement build. If he was willing to listen, there might still be a chance. Breathless with excitement, Grace watched as Nathaniel turned to face her. He stared intently into her eyes.

"You claim you don't want any money, just to stay with me?"

Nathaniel was reminded of when he first met Freya, when he had been poor and not revealed his true self.

Freya had taken his hand and said that even though he had no money, she would support him with her art and stay with him.

Grace nodded vigorously. "I'm willing to be with Mr. Nathaniel."

Nathaniel sneered. "You're not worthy!"

Grace's face turned ashen, and before she could react, Nathaniel yanked the

chain from her neck and threw it into the nearby fountain.

"Take the money and leave!" Nathaniel ordered.
