Chapter 859
Matthew was shocked. "Really?"
Ansel replied, "That's how things were done back then. They always kept something up their sleeves, but it's impressive they wrote it on the Octolith. Don't overlook that item."
Matthew nodded, realizing he hadn't been giving enough attention to the Octolith. "Got it. I haven't been home for two days, and I miss my mom. I'm going back now."
With that, he turned around and started walking out.
Ansel chuckled. "Are you serious? You're an adult. You've only been away for two days, and you're missing your mom. What a mama's boy."
Matthew heard Ansel calling him a mama's boy, but he just let it slide. Besides Lillian, he also missed Stanley and Lorraine. The longing hit him hard.
Jay had two sons and one daughter. But after he passed away, no one even cared when his dead body started to stink. To make matters worse, when he was alive, his family barely visited him once every few years.
Matthew didn't want to turn into someone like Benson, Marilyn, and Darius. That was the one thing he hated the most.
He wanted to say goodbye to Tony when he saw Tony standing there, absorbed in a book. So, he set down a chair in front of Tony. "Take a seat as you read."
Tony's eyes were glued to the book. Without looking up, he just hummed in acknowledgment and sat on the chair as he continued reading the book.
Matthew didn't say anything else and made his way to the elevator.
Upon arriving home, Matthew saw Lillian making snow boots. Standing at the side, Lorraine was watering the potted plants with a water gun.
Lorraine spotted Matthew coming back, so she grinned and pointed the gun at him. "Don't move, or I'll shoot."
Matthew acted terrified and shouted, "I surrender. I yield."
Lorraine seemed to be having fun as she giggled. "You can't surrender, Dad. If you do that, I don't get to shoot you."
Matthew changed his words in defeat. "Alright, no matter what, I won't surrender."
Lorraine pulled the trigger of her water gun, and a jet of water blasted toward Matthew. He jumped around in the yard, running in circles.
Lorraine burst out laughing and started chasing Matthew. The yard suddenly got all lively.
Smiling, Lillian shouted, "Watch your steps, Lori. Don't hurt yourself."
Stanley walked out of the house. After standing there for a moment, he said to Lillian, "Since Matt is back, we should get dinner ready."noveldrama
Lillian hummed in acknowledgment. She got up and made her way to the kitchen.
At Wealthwave Group, Tracy walked over to the president's office with a steaming cup of coffee.
Tracy noticed Rachel was feeling down today. She looked drained, sitting around and staring off into space. Even at lunch, she didn't have any energy.
The Blue Mountain coffee she ordered online just arrived. She was excited to grind the beans and brew a cup of it to enjoy when the aroma was still strong.
That was Rachel's favorite flavor. She was confident that Rachel would feel better after drinking it.
After arriving at the office, Tracy opened the door and saw Rachel zoning out. She cheerfully asked, "How does it smell to you? Can you guess where the coffee beans are from?"
Rachel wearily mumbled, "I'm not in the mood to drink anything."
Tracy gently waved her hand above the coffee cup, directing the rich coffee aroma toward Rachel's nose. "Give it another whiff. It smells amazing. Are you sure you don't want to try it?"
What do you think?
