Chapter 273
After Harvey finished speaking, he pulled out a set of clothes from the closet. He dressed right in front of Eloise, who just watched him silently.
Once Harvey was dressed, he met her gaze, and was just about to make a sarcastic remark when his phone rang. He glanced and saw it was Parker calling, so he answered, "Dad!"
Whatever was said on the other end made Harvey's gaze fall on Eloise's face, seeming somewhat meaningful. "Yes, she's with me...We will have dinner together tonight!"
He hung up the phone, and his tone was indifferent. "Dad wants us to go home for dinner tonight. I'm a bit busy, so you go first with...the kid."
Eloise understood clearly. He wasn't busy; he just didn't want to pick her up. She didn't press him and quickly agreed. The two of them quietly went downstairs.
Harvey had his driver take her, while he opened the door of a black McLaren, and prepared to get into the car. Eloise approached, and they were separated by the car door.
Her tone was very calm. "Harvey, you can be cold to me, but...Linda is very sensitive. Please don't say those things in front of her!"
Harvey recalled the little one from the files. She looked a lot like Eloise, cute and tender, with a head full of curls. Quite adorable!
He nodded a bit coldly. "You can rest assured!"
Eloise felt a certain relief. She watched as the black sports car slowly disappeared before her. She didn't know whether to feel happy or sad. She was full of fighting spirit, but after being treated like that by him, she wasn't sure anymore!
She stood there for a long time. Baron watched her with a pained heart. He couldn't help but gently say, "Miss, let's get in the car! It's not good for you to stand for so long."
Eloise gently held her waist and forced a smile. "It does feel a bit sore!"
She returned to the villa. Once she got back, she shut herself in the study with all the curtains drawn.
The study was dark. Eloise leaned on the couch with Harvey's voice recorder by her ear. She quietly listened, countless times, until she felt somewhat energized.
In the evening, she picked up Linda, and they went to the Horigan Mansion. Just as they entered, Daniel rushed over, warmly greeting her, "Aunt Eloise!"
Eloise crouched down, gently touching his little head.
The little guy's face was slightly red. Linda made a funny face. He was always blushing and acting shy!
Parker and Pauline came over. Pauline took the two children to have dessert. Parker kept Eloise to talk. "Have you seen him?"
Eloise nodded. She didn't want to cause trouble for the elders, so she kept quiet about everything, but Parker already knew. He happened to have some inside information. He shrewdly glanced at Eloise, and slowly said, "He made such a demand, aren't you angry? Eloise... what I want to tell you is, don't indulge him just because he sacrificed for you! I don't need to tell you how much of a jerk Harvey was in the past! Anyway, tolerating him is not a long-term solution! You slapped him so many times in the past, but didn't he still beg you to reconcile?"
Eloise remained silent. Parker knew in his heart, that she was always soft-hearted and couldn't bear to treat Harvey like that! Now, it was like trying to choose between two equally important things. As a father, he felt somewhat overwhelmed!
Harvey returned at seven in the evening, just in time for dinner. As the car stopped, he stepped into the night. Linda couldn't help but run over, hugging his long legs. Her little face was rubbing against his legs. "Daddy, I missed you so much!"
Harvey's body stiffened slightly. He had no experience dealing with children in his memories, but holding Linda, his heart softened a bit. Was this the bond of blood? Parker watched his son holding his granddaughter. His face showed no rejection, but his heart was filled with melancholy and sorrow. Harvey would never imagine how much he used to adore Linda. Pauline was even wiping her tears. This was quite the reunion dinner. Everyone ate in silence.
Harvey sat with Eloise, but the two were awkward. Harvey couldn't remember while Eloise couldn't let go just because he forgot.
Parker really wanted to play matchmaker. He thought, "They are husband and wife, sleeping together will naturally bring them closer!"
After dinner, Harvey wiped his lips. "Dad, there's a case, so I need to go back to the office."
Parker was displeased. "Is your case more important than your family?"
He gave Pauline a look. "Have the servants clean up Harvey's old room. Let them have a good talk tonight. Linda can sleep with us!"
Pauline always listened to Parker, and immediately went to do it.
Harvey just gave a faint smile. He lit a cigarette, and slowly went upstairs, with his back full of alienation.noveldrama
Eloise was, after all, sad. Parker patted the back of her hand. "Just bear with it for now!"
Eloise just nodded. She didn't go upstairs right away, but stayed downstairs with the two children, until finally putting Linda down to sleep. Only then did she go to Harvey's old room.
Harvey was standing by the window smoking. Eloise stood at the door, watching him. His profile was perfect, and as he inhaled and exhaled, the smoke quickly dissipated into the air.
Perhaps sensing her gaze, Harvey turned to look at her. He put out his cigarette, and his tone sounded indifferent. "Learned to tattle?"
Eloise closed the door. She slowly approached him. Under his gaze, she gently wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Dad found out on his own! Harvey, we're husband and wife! I don't want to be separated from you. I want to be close to you, isn't that normal?"
Harvey's eyes were inscrutable. He leaned back leisurely, looking down at Eloise in his arms. She was soft and obedient, and seemed to let him do as he pleased. He was somewhat intrigued, and asked in a low voice, "So you want to sleep with me?"
He had heard, women could have sex three months into their pregnancy.
What do you think?
