Chapter 1269
Leo quickly dialed the number, "Hey, Mia, how's little Henry doing?"
"Oh, Leo, thank goodness you called. Can you help me figure out what she's saying? I can't understand a single word. English is tougher to grasp than baby talk." Mia put the phone on speaker and asked in English, "Is this okay for babies to eat?"
The person on the other end mumbled something unclear, so Mia asked again, "So, can he have it or not?"
Still confused by the response, Mia turned to Leo, "Leo, I have no clue what she's saying. Even my translation app is stumped."
Her brother was in school, and her husband was busy with work events. She just wanted to step out for a bit and take her son for a photoshoot, so she didn't bring her portable translator. They stumbled upon a snack shop, and her craving for Kittemia snacks led to her son insisting on trying some.noveldrama
Mia wasn't sure if they were suitable for babies, so she asked the staff. What she thought was a straightforward question turned into a baffling exchange.
Henry was just as puzzled, quietly holding his mom's hand and looking up at the person speaking in a language more bewildering than his own babble.
Leo took the phone and after a quick chat, he told Mia, "Mia, what they meant was: the snack is a new product, not specifically labeled for babies, but it's pretty tasty. Also, they said your baby is adorable, like a little angel, and if you're interested, they'd love to take a photo of him for their promotions. They're offering three thousand dollars plus any snacks you'd like from the store."
Mia picked up her little one and grumbled, "All I needed was a simple 'I don't know.' All this extra information... Wait a second, if you were translating directly, I should've understood her. I'm not fluent, but I can communicate decently."
Leo laughed, "Ever heard of accents?"
Mia was momentarily silent.
Turns out, accents are a universal thing.
Since Henry really wanted to try it, Mia bought a pack but turned down the photo offer. On their way back to the hotel, she tasted it first to make sure it wasn't too strong before letting Henry have a small bite.
Their trip wasn't just about staying in the hotel.
Last time, they hit all the tourist spots, but this time, Mia strolled through the streets with her son, soaking in the local vibes and history.
After finishing his work, Cooper eagerly rushed to meet his sister and nephew. With some help from his uncle, Henry even learned a couple of English words. They kept up with video calls to dad in the evenings.
When Molly called, she was clearly envious, "Mia, you've got the time and chance to travel, with Cooper as your travel buddy. I can't go anywhere. No wonder Andre wanted you to consider grad school, to relive that carefree college life."
"You're just too lazy to travel. If you really wanted to, nothing could stop you."
"True. Now my son's taken over as the boss, keeping me in check." Molly lounged on her bed with a face mask on, her son sitting on her stomach, using her legs as a backrest.
Wayne looked up, frowning, not even recognizing his mom anymore.
Chad had just come home and called out as he walked into the bedroom, "Molly, son."
What do you think?
