Chapter 1267
Cooper was heading back to college, but this time, he'd be home sooner than usual. With only a handful of courses left, his attention had shifted to group projects and prepping his thesis for graduation, before diving into his postgraduate studies.
He figured he'd be back in about a week, and he couldn't stop doting on his adorable nephew. "Sis, you're not tied up with anything at home. Why not come along?"
Mia shot back, "Nope, not going."
"What about your little guy? Can he tag along?" Cooper suggested.
Henry was thrilled at the thought of an adventure with his uncle. That evening, Andre checked in with his wife before leaving work, "Which house are you at?"
"Your mom's place," she replied.
With a chuckle, Andre headed to the Irvin residence. The family had been hopping between their three homes lately, keeping busy.
Once he arrived, Cooper launched his charm offensive on his brother-in-law, "Hey, I won't be swamped over there. Just meeting my advisor and having a group meeting, then I'm free as a bird. Let me take my sis and the little guy along."
Andre shrugged, "Your sister's a grown-up. If she's up for it, I'm all in."
Since Mia had wrapped up her exams and wasn't busy, Andre figured a change of scenery might be nice for her.
Getting Andre on board was a breeze, and convincing his sister was just a matter of time.
At dinner, Cooper said, "Sis, pack your bags. We're heading abroad tomorrow."
Mia retorted, "I already told you, I'm not going." Her English was fine for problem- solving but not for casual chat. Without her husband nearby, she felt uneasy.
Cooper smirked, "Already got your plane ticket. It cost twelve grand. Non- refundable."
Mia raised an eyebrow, "Who are you kidding? There's always a refund."
Cooper replied, "You get back a measly $150."noveldrama
Feeling the pinch, Mia stubbornly said, "Like I care about the $11,850."
The next day, with luggage in tow, Henry snuggled against his mom, squirming, "Daddy, we're going on a plane!"
Andre hugged his son, "Be good without me around. It's your mom's first time taking you abroad. Stick close, okay?"
Cooper laughed as the Irvin couple offered advice, "Look after your sister. Stick with them when you're out. Your sister's never taken a kid abroad alone. Come back soon."
"Got it, Mom and Dad," Cooper assured them.
At the gate, Mia hugged her husband, whining, "Honey, Cooper set me up!"
Andre chuckled, "But didn't you already get back at him?"
He watched as his wife and son went through the gate.
Henry waved enthusiastically, ready for his little vacation.
After a few hours on the plane, Henry got restless, so Cooper took him for a walk up and down the aisle.
Mia, having memorized a few key phrases, lay back with an eye mask and dozed off.
Outside, the night sky was inky black, and Henry couldn't see a thing. He nudged his uncle to take him to the flight attendant for some snacks.
Charmed by Henry, the flight attendant showered him with treats.
Cooper coached him, "What do you say when someone gives you goodies?"
"Thank you!" Henry chirped, his voice sweet and polite, clutching his snacks.
"Such a polite little one, how adorable," the flight attendant said, piling on even more snacks.
While others snoozed, Henry sat on his uncle's lap, munching on snacks and watching cartoons.
Before finishing an episode, he dozed off in Cooper's arms.
Mia woke up midway through the flight and saw her brother and son snuggled together, fast asleep.
She tried to gently lift her son, but the moment she touched them, Cooper jolted awake, clutching Henry protectively. His eyes were sharp, like a wolf on guard, until he realized it was just his sister. Relaxing, Cooper murmured, "Sis, you should've called out to me. You startled me. I was dreaming someone was trying to snatch my nephew, and I was chasing them down."
What do you think?
