Chapter 1209
Every time Chad saw his wife darting around with their little one, he'd nervously eye the shiny floor, scared they'd slip.
So, he called up his mom, "Hey, Ma, could you clock in a bit later, say around 9:10?"
Coleen cut straight to the chase, "I clock in at 9:10 because Molly's always racing at 9:09. You've known her for years, hasn't she shown you enough of her antics?" Chad knew he couldn't argue with that.
At the office, Donnie was beaming with the excitement that only a newbie can have. Stephania had whisked away Anya, the bridesmaid.
"I heard if you're a bridesmaid too often, you might never tie the knot," Molly chimed in, sharing an old wives' tale.
Startled, Anya asked, "Auntie, it's only my second time. Do you really think I won't get married?"
Molly shrugged, "Better ask Leo about that."
When Anya got home, she plopped down next to her boyfriend, visibly worried, "Chad, they say too many bridesmaid gigs and you're doomed to stay single. Do you think we can still get hitched?"
Leo was engrossed in the game on TV. He turned to her, calm and collected, "Who's been filling your head with that stuff?"
Anya replied, "Auntie!"
Leo chuckled, "If it really bugs you, we could just run down and get hitched tomorrow. Problem solved."
Anya's face lit up, "Oh, whatever then. If I can't get married, it's no biggie. Being in love forever sounds pretty sweet. My aunts are a bit jealous I can keep this going forever!"
Leo smirked, "Come here, you."
Anya tried to flee, but Leo snagged her dress, pulling her onto his lap, holding her snugly.
Her dress a wrinkled mess, Anya fussed with it as Leo leaned in, planting a playful kiss on her lips, "Still dreaming about endless love, huh?"
Anya giggled, her face and neck peppered with kisses. Leo's hand wandered up her leg, lifting her skirt. Anya blushed, nudging his hand away, "Chad, behave."
Leo wasn't listening. When they first moved in together, they had all these innocent plans to keep things separate and respectful.
But as time marched on, those plans were long buried under Leo's growing affection. He'd often find himself almost crossing that line with Anya, each time so close, yet never quite there. '

Leo felt like he'd been hit with a cold shower. He leaned back, cooling his jets while Anya giggled. She took his hands, then cozied up with her head resting on his lap, eyes on the TV, "Chad, what's this?"
Leo explained, "It's some big computer competition. Winners get to compete globally."
He looked down at her, her neck so inviting, always tempted to leave a mark. The more he thought about it, the more restless he felt. He tapped
her shoulder, "Hey, up you get. I need a shower."
"Huh?" Anya folded her legs on the couch, eyeing her boyfriend struggling with his
urges, and pouted playfully, "Chad, not watching anymore?"
Leo sighed, "I'll catch the replay."
"Okay," Anya called out as Leo headed to the bathroom, "I'm changing the channel then."
"Go for it."
As the water started running, Anya sat there, cheeks a little pink, holding the remote but not really watching.
On the weekend, Conner planned a quick trip home, at least a two-day turnaround.
Before leaving, he tried to catch Annie. She was on duty and couldn't see him off.
Instead, as he boarded the plane, a text pinged from Annie: 1.
What do you think?
