Chapter 1042
Anya raised her hand like she was taking an oath. "Chad, I swear, I've never been here before. Ross is the one who picked this place." "A guy?"
Anya pouted, "If I said it was a guy, would you still be mad?"
Leo gently tapped her nose, grinning. "Sounds like I shortchanged you on the 'reward' at lunch. We'll have to fix that later."
Anya clung happily to Leo's arm as they walked in. She had no idea where to go, so Leo took the lead. "This way," he said. Watching Anya's wide-eyed curiosity, Leo was convinced she truly had no clue about this place.
As they entered, a host greeted them. "Good evening, sir, we're not open yet."
Anya stepped forward confidently, "Ross invited us."
"Ah, Mr. Ross. Right this way, please." The host led them to a private room.
As they got closer, the music booming from inside grew louder.
"Mr. Ross, your guests have arrived," announced the host.
The door swung open to reveal a bunch of guys belting out songs, flirting with hostesses over drinks, and others smoking or playing games.
"Hey, make room! Ms. Anya is here. Let me introduce everyone: this is Anya from Calder Corporation. She's my goddess, but out of my league, unfortunately." Anya shot Leo a glance, quickly saying, "Chad, I—"
"It's all good, you're pretty enough to be a goddess," Leo chuckled, holding her hand as they moved forward. They were facing a flashy guy with red-dyed hair, smoking and looking Leo up and down with a sneer.
Leo got the picture. This wasn't about fixing a computer; they wanted to size up who Ms. Anya's boyfriend was. "Ross, why this place for a 'computer fix'? And why so many people?" Anya immediately realized she'd been set up.
It made sense; if Ross wanted a computer, he could just buy one. They weren't here to study.noveldrama
Anya, realizing belatedly, remembered how the crowd had egged her on, and she'd gone along without thinking.
"Can't fix a computer here? I invited everyone to witness just how 'impressive' your boyfriend is," Ross said, his eyes scanning Leo with ill intent. "So, you're Anya's boyfriend, huh?" Leo gave a relaxed smile, "Doesn't it look that way?"
He glanced at Ross, thinking of a friend, Cooper, and how different they were.
Anya, worried Leo might get upset, tugged at him, "Chad, let's not bother. If it's broken, he can just buy a new one."
Leo wrapped an arm around her, planting a kiss on her forehead in front of everyone. "Sweetheart, if we leave now, how will you brag about me later? Besides, I've already earned that 'reward' from lunch."
"Chad, I don't want you to fix it. Ross is just stirring up trouble," Anya said, blushing and acting coy in Leo's embrace.
Ross watched, his temper rising.
Anya was never short of admirers,
and Ross had been one since high school. He didn't do well academically and missed out on Havenbrook University. Not long after, he'd heard Anya was dating someone. Back home for the holidays, he heard classmates talking about Anya showing off her
boyfriend. Since this guy was
supposedly impressive, Ross
wanted to see for himself.
Ross grabbed a laptop from the sofa, slamming it onto the table. "Let's see what you've got."
