Chapter 40
“We need to talk.” his tone blated with so much power.
“We have nothing to talk about,” Elise argued. She tried to control the incessant pace at which her heart was beating from just being near him, trying to show that he had no control over her, but she was failing miserably.
Their heated breaths were the only sound that filled the silent space as Elise shut her eyes and tried pushing his tempting voice that always shook her resolve and made her body shiver with want away.
Just one look at him reminded her of last night in that d**n cave and how she surrendered herself to him, both wolf and body. How her flesh and soul were mended by just his touch..This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
“We have a lot to talk about; look at me, Elise,” he says, but she stays still, her body still facing the door frame. “Look at me and she freezes when she sees that familiar heart behind her..
Slowly turning around, she peers up through her lashes to meet Rygan’s hard gaze that studies her, from her icy blue eyes to the very freckles on her perfectly petite face to the strand of her white-streaked hair that fell to her eyes.
There was a sense of calm that appeared on his face after he watched her for a few minutes. “W-what?” Elise stuttered out. watching him in confusion.
His hands finally fall from the door and slide up her waist, Elise holds her breath as she feels his hands come up to her face to caress her, but just as he is about to touch her, she moves away from his embrace
Why did you leave?”
“You look like you haven’t slept for days, and I didn’t want to disturb you, nor was I supposed to be there,” she says quietly. She didn’t have the mind to meet his eyes. “What exactly is it that you want to talk about? I told you I couldn’t remember everything
“I want to talk about you,” he muttered, studying her every move. He watched as she walked over to the other side of the room, precisely next to the bookshelves. “But I just wanted to
-to do what, Rygan?” She muttered, not looking up at him but trying her best to keep her gaze trained on the books, a better escape from her thundering heart.
“To look at you, know that you’re here with me and not with those monsters who’ve made you suffer, and moons know how much I want to break and turn the whole realm upside down to find the ***d who took you from me.”
“You can’t be saying that. We shouldn’t even be in the same room together right now, and I’m fine,” she muttered,
But Rygan hated the space between them. As he walked in fast, long strides to meet her by the shelves, his hand leaned on
one.
“I did not agree to that; I will do anything to have you by my side, he argued.
“But the high moon—”
Now he’s p***d. “The high moon has passed, and I don’t give a freaking s**t about the high moon or whatever rejection of my people, what I should do, or what Alvira wants,” he says without missing a beat, his jaw slack and nose flared in annoyance.
But Elise was past trusting his words; only memories of him with Alvira filled her mind when any promises spilled from his lips. It caused her heart to ache, and she put a hand over her chest to calm her heart.
“And as I told you, Alpha Rygan, I do not recall what happened in that cave, yes, we f*d. I **hope you enjoyed having a taste of me, but I do not want anything to do with you anymore, so please move away; I want to rest if our conversation is done she called, hoping he’il fall for it
She tried to take a step away from him, but he pulled her back. “What are you?” he kissed her. Joining their lips in desperate
haste
His tongue laps at her nape as he mutters, “I can still smell my scent on you, and look, my mark is still on your neck, and how fast your heart is beating-a thundering resemblance to my heart,” he calls, touching the sensitive spot where Elise let out an involuntary moan.
Rygan feels her fingers pressing against his shoulders as he takes one of her hands, placing her dainty small palm on his chest to feel his heartbent. It was like a call to her as he swooped down to take her lips into another steamy kiss. Her head leaned on the shelves as Rygan tried hand to compel and control himself and his strength, but the wooden shelves groaned under his hold.
His other hand traced down the back of her sweater and into her leggings until she felt the soft flesh of her a** Just as he kneaded in her precious soft behind, his touch made a small moan escape her lips. The shelves in his hold groaned again and cracked.
Leaving books falling and the shelves in pieces, the sound of the booms and shelves falling brings her back to reality.
She pushed him aside and shucked as she landed a hand in her mouth. She couldn’t believe she had done it again.
“This shouldn’t be happening, you have a child on the way, and I’m just going to become a bigger villain in Alvira’s eyes,” she breathes out harshly.
“I do not want Alvira, not like how I care and burn for you, Elise, you know what you do to me; for a long time, you you have me wrapped around your fingers; I love you.”
know
“Then do this for the child,” she says, knowing she was playing dirty by going so low and using an unborn child, but that was the only way to keep them apart. “I don’t want to be that person, and I don’t want to be with you in that situation.”
“Elise.” he snarled
“I am thankful for you saving me, and I will never forget that. You’ve saved me countless times, but right now I just want you to see me and treat me like the members of your pack and nothing else, nothing more.” She says it in all seriousness.
She leaves the study without another word; even though her heart is hurting from it, she is going to be brave.
She takes the steps up to her chambers, only to be met with a familiar face the minute she opens her chambers to see Alvira sitting on one of the chairs by the fireplace.
Her gaze is cold and calculating as she stands up. Her eyes roamed around the large room with irritation, angry that Elise. was given such a beautiful room before it landed back in Elise.
“What are you doing here?”
“Am I not allowed to see my soon-to-be mansion? After all, I will be getting married soon.” She called smugly as she looked at Elise, her nose glaring in disgust when she smelled Rygan’s scent on her.
“You can’t just keep away from it, can you? Acting like a s**t any chance you get close to him.” She spat.
“What?” Elise mutters.
“Stay away from furn,” Alvira warned, because I am going to make your life in this pack a living hell”.
Elise feels her last three minutes of patience on a loose thread because Alvira still wants to make her lose control; she believes she won’t talk back to her, and Elise is still a weak girl she can play with.
“You can’t come into my space to threaten ine, Alvira.” These wohls shocked Alvira, whose eyes widened. “I’ve given you the utmost respect I can, though she lied that I pushed you down these steps, and your plan worked with the whole pack hating me,” she says to Alvira, who chuckles darkly.
–and I’m going to make you wish you shouldn’t have made it back. You are better off being a rogue anyway,” she says.
She looks around one last tithe before she leaves for the door. “Don’t blame me for what happens next,” she calmly says before walking to the chamber door.
“Your threats will not work on me anymore, Alvira. I never did anything so horrible for you to treat me so wrongly. I don’t care if the whole pack turned against me because of your lies; I will prove to every one of you that I deserve to be here.”
She walks to the door this time, meeting Alvira eye-to-eye, her face cold and indifferent to Alvira, before she holds the door k**b.
“Goodbye. Alvira,” she says before slamming the door on Alvira, who is stunned and insulted. Her eyes and mouth opened, and words sputtered out, but she couldn’t make a sentence. Alvira handed them an angry fist; she was going to make Elise regret ever meeting Rygan and her life in this pack.
That was a promise.
