Chapter 39
Elise had tried to rest as much as possible for the past few hours but she was left tossing and turning until she checked the clock and saw it was time to meet Rygan and the others.
Elise then got dressed in a comly turtleneck beige sweater that was given to her with comfortable leggings and shoes, and she tied her head up in a messy bun.
Taking one last glance at her reflection and hoping there was no mark in sight from Rygan’s mouth on her, she walked out of the chambers and headed for Rygan’s familiar study,
She couldn’t help but question a few skeptical gazes that guards and servants gave her as she passed them by while heading to the study.
She got that they could be shocked about the abduction, but the stares they gave her seemed more intense than usual. She tried to forget it and think about where she was supposed to be right now.
The closer she got, the more she heard whispers from the other side of the door, hearing Rygan’s voice rise momentarily before another person talked.
The door opened up, and a very tall guard stepped out of the room. He turned to Elise. At first, panic filled his gaze, but he switched to a stoic indifference in seconds, confusing Elise.
She wondered why she felt this creeping familiarity with him, but he didn’t stay long for her to and gave a silent bow and
left.
She stepped into the room, her thoughts still jumbled up as she looked to see three pairs of eyes staring at her. Taz, Kaide, and Rygan watched and studied her every move.
She felt out of place; in her nervousness, she bit her lips, and her fingers dug into her skin to keep her composure before she walked further in.
And all the more, she tried to control her limp caused by the anguish prick of an alpha that stared at her. For a moment, she turned to meet Rygan’s gaze; his strong eyes were filled with worry, and the dark, hollow circles underneath had cleared up a
bit
He didn’t listen to her at first, but he must have gotten a little bit of rest. She begged him for hours before the meeting, and he only slept when he was with her. “How are you holding up. Red?” Taz broke the silence from his stance by the walls near the stained glass window.
“I’m good, I think,” she responded, trying to edge out a smile, but it seemed more awkward than she intended. “Sure. can tell us what happened after you were abducted–any piece of information you remember?”

“Yeah..-“but she was cut short when the door opened, and Alvira stepped inside the study. Her eyes immediately turned to Elise, studying her from head to toe.
She made sure to perch a hand on her belly and slowly caress it to remind Elise that she was the one with Rygan’s heir, the real future mate, and his Luna.
“Well, looking at how she is perfectly okay, it seems we wasted our men to go look for her,” Alvira said, and Rygan immediately cut her off with a growl and a telepathic warning.
She gave a death stare to Elise in return as she went to sit down on the chair closest to Rygan while Kaide sat on the next chair beside her, the four of them facing her.
Take your time and breathe..if you don’t want to do this,” Rygan assured, but she shook her head.
-1, Elise started, “after our talk back at the rites banquet, I stayed back, but then two males came towards me.”
“Humans?” Kaide asked, but Elise shook her head.
“No, it seemed they were taking scent suppressants because I couldn’t get a distinct scent from them, but their strength- these weren’t humans; their faces were covered up, so I can’t give you a description. I struggled to fight them off, but then I was drugged after that.” She explained it to them.
Apart from Alvira, who looked uncomfortable and angry at Elise, the males listened carefully. “That’s when I woke up a whole day later to the humans. They said I was given to them,” she continued, and the males stared back at each other.
“Then they argued over who I was supposed to go to, whether it was my father for their reward or the human hunt guild.” She continued, and they stiffened, all turning to Rygan, who had a dark–looking face, while Alvira had turned pale.
“So they weren’t sent by Kyren?” Kaide was confused and frustrated.
“Mere humans can’t just come into our territory and take one of our own; there is a mole that helped,” Rygan said as he turned to his friends and Elise.
“And then, what happened?” This time, Alvira broke her silence and asked. Her eyes looked worried as she swallowed a breath back down.
“I was attacked after refusing to give in and go with them. They wanted to have their way with me, but I fought. I was poisoned randomly and weakened. That’s when I gave my control to my wolf. She explained.
“Your wolf talks to you?” Kaide muttered, his eyes blown wide in shock.
“You wolf did more than protect you, Elise.” Taz cut in. “It was a literal bloody massacre,” “Taz said.
“What?” Elise answered, shocked.
“And Rygan also told us about your first encounter with rogues and how they were left wounded,” Kaide cut in. “He didn’t tell you because he did not want you to be scared, but I believe your wolf’s strength is something we haven’t seen in centuries,”
Elise had no idea how to even answer this: “It could be from her true origins; her father was angry that she wasn’t a true silver night wolf or his blood; maybe there is more to her lineage we need to find out, but you need to tell us more,” RyganBelonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Elise tried to close her eyes and recall what happened after she give control to her feral side, but her clouded, dark memories filled her mind: “I can’t.”
“I can remember the pain from being shot at and two males who tried to take me.” She said she was unsure.
“The beta assassins that were probably sent by Kyren or acted for themselves. I have no ideas yet, but we can’t put possible blame on them and bring them to trial without evidence, especially since they didn’t attack you in black moon territory,”
Kaide said.
“I can’t remember…”
“It’s alright, we can stop here for today if you can’t,” Kaide called, raressing her shoulders, and Rygan’s hand groaned on the chair in annoyance and jealousy. Alvira watched the small exchange, and something in her churned from bitter hatred.
Alvira laughed bitterly, cutting Kaide off. “Of course you can’t recall anything, Elise, but you sure as hell must remember fucking my fiancé with no morals or care in the world!” She shouted at Elise.
The room grew quiet; a rising deadly tension filled the room; it made Alvira scared to even lift a finger from the heavy. threatening pheromones that were being targeted at her by Rygan.
Stop..Rygan!” Elise begged, and he calmed his scent.
“I invited you to this meeting as the pack’s advisor because I thought you could act past this phase,”
“Phase? You fucked hert She even stayed in your room all day after that; the whole town will see me as a joke, saying I cannot even protect my mate from the same woman who wanted to harm me even after I forgave her.” She screeched, “And I will make sure she pays for that! I’m sure she only did this because she wanted attention.
“Get the hell out of this room this instant,” he called to Alvira, who stood up, her face red with embarrassment as she took one last look at Elise.
“This isn’t over,” she called, slamming the door. And leaving four of them in the room.
“You both, leave* He ordered his two betas to leave immediately, Elise saw this as her cue to leave and hit the door, and she was hit in the face by a very sorry–looking Tazmin.
She then heard the chair shift as Rygan came behind her; she could practically feel the heat from his body as his hands held both doors, trapping her in between them when she tried to open them, as he whispered to her ears. “We need to talk.”
And she knew there was no escaping him.
