My Mute Wife

Chapter 64 Doing It for Others

The following day.

“Madam!”

“Ma’am, come upstairs and take a look!”

The inside of the house was dim, and the curtains were airtight.

Lexie was awakened by the shouting outside the room.

“There was a bang and the door opened from the outside.

Lexie cowered in fear, and the pain that struck the top of her foot jolted her awake.

Diana stood in the doorway, and with a glance, she saw the bare-shouldered Lexie, as well as this room full of mess, and immediately chided, “What the hell is going on here?”

In the room, there was the woman’s clothing scattered on the floor and blood dotting the sheets, mixed with unidentified stains, it was easy to imagine the intensity of last night in this room.

Lexie, however, looked bewildered.

What had happened last night? The aches all over her body were reminding her of last night’s memory.

She was sleeping deeply, Alan suddenly barged in and tore her clothes, and no matter how much she struggled, it had no avail. He pounced towards her like a wild animal.

Lexie shuddered violently, not daring to believe it.

“Madam, Miss Edith is still in Mr. Alan’s room,” Marry’s voice came from behind Diana.

Diana gave Lexie a fierce glare, ”Hurry up and put your clothes on! Are you planning to exhibit it for the whole family to see? What a shameless thing!”

Leaving this behind, Diana and Marry left in a hurry.

Lexie’s mind went blank and her ears buzzed.

And on the other side, in the master bedroom.

Edith woke up from Alan’s bed, unclothed, and the large room was empty except for herself.

“Edith,” Diana hurried in the door.

“Mrs. Stewart,” as soon as she saw Diana, Edith immediately jumped into her arms and cried out.

“What’s going on here?”

“I don’t know, Mrs. Stewart, why am I here? Isn’t this Alan’s room? The clothes on me, me and Alan …”

Diana looked around the messy bed and revealed a puzzled look.

“Don’t cry, Edith, what happened last night?”

“I don’t know, I don’t remember anything,” Edith’s eyes were red and tears were falling down, “If my father knows about it, he would beat me to death!”

This was meant to blackmail the Howard family?

Diana’s eyes swept over with a touch of contempt as she glanced at Marry.

Marry understood, “Miss Edith, don’t cry, Mr. Alan went out early in the morning, and it seems that … he slept his wife’s room last night.”

At those words, Edith’s crying stopped abruptly and she looked at Marry incredulously.

Diana patted her shoulder in relief, “It’s alright, Edith, you can take your time thinking about it if you can’t remember. You wash your face first, I’ll have someone send you a set of clean clothes over.”

After saying this, Diana waved her hand and took Marry to leave first.

As soon as the door closed, Diana’s face sank.

“What a useless thing.”

Marry asked, “So last night …”

“Don’t bother, let her figure it out for herself.”

Diana was in the midst of her anger and coldly said, “That mute took the advantage!”

And inside the room, Edith’s face was so gloomy.

Alan actually slept in Lexie’s room last night?

She had gone to such great lengths to drug Alan, but in the end, she had done it for Lexie?

It was noon at the headquarters of the Howard Group.

Looking at the missed call on his phone, Alan impatiently pressed hang up.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Not long after, Jack arrived in a hurry, “Mr. Alan, Miss Edith called again and said she wanted to see you.”

“Tell her I’m not available.”

“Okay,” Jack responded with a careful nod.

Early this morning, Alan’s face looked very grim.

“Any other calls besides hers?”

Jack froze, “No.”

Alan’s eyebrows went cold at once, impatiently he snapped the phone onto the table.

Taking out the fire on that woman was a matter of necessity.

He wasn’t drunk at all last night, but he just wanted to see what kind of tricks Edith wanted to play, but he didn’t expect her to have so much guts to drug him.

But when he woke up early in the morning and saw the tear-stained face of Lexie sleeping unconscious beside him, his heart suddenly welled up with indescribable guilt, and he actually fled in a hurry.

“Mr. Alan, if you don’t have any other orders, I’ll go out first.”

Jack’s voice pulled Alan’s thoughts back.

Alan frowned, “Wait.”

“You go find a master who can read Feng Shui and come to my office.”

“What?” Jack froze for a moment, incredulous.

A Feng Shui master?

“Mr. Alan, what are you trying to do? I thought you didn’t believe in this?”

“Just do it, what’s all the nonsense?”

Jack nodded, “Okay.”

Today, his boss was furious. Early in the morning, several departments were scolded, so he’d better talk less.

It rained all afternoon in J City and only stopped raining in the evening.

Marry knocked on the door with dinner, again with a grimace, “Mrs. Howard, dinner is ready.”

[Just put it on the table, please.]

“I don’t care when you eat your meal, but I’ll have to watch you take this medicine.”

Medicine?

Lexie froze, and when she looked up, she saw the pill box held in Marry’s hand, and the words ’emergency contraception’ on it fell into Lexie’s eyes.

Her heart ached for no reason, and she instantly paled.

If Alan didn’t want her to be pregnant, why did she treat herself that way last night?

What happened last night vividly occurred to her mind. In fact, compared to the newlywed night, Alan was gentle last night, but at the moment the pill told her that it was really just an illusion.

Marry thought she didn’t want to eat, “Mrs. Howard, don’t make it difficult for me.”

[Give it to me.]

Lexie held out her hand.

Seeing that Lexie had the medicine, Marry sighed in relief and said contemptuously, “Then you remember to eat.”

Lexie did not respond, holding her water cup with a gloomy face.

As if it was because the pills dissolved so quickly, she felt a gush of bitterness in her throat.

The phone on the table lit up for a moment and a text message from Myles popped up.

“Are you okay?”

Lexie collected her thoughts and replied, “I am okay.”

Myles asked, “Grandma has been settled, do you have much luggage? Do you need my help?”

“No, I have nothing to take away.”

Lexie glanced at the canvas bag hanging by the door, her mother’s belongings and her bank card were in it, and she needed to travel light to leave J City, so she didn’t plan to take anything else with her to avoid alerting others.

“Okay, well, if you’re ready to leave, let me know anytime.”

Lexie was tapping words on her phone, and then the door opening sound came from behind her, the moment she looked up, she met a pair of narrow and cold sharp eyes, and her hand shook at once.

With a ‘pop’, the phone dropped, making an extremely clear sound in the quiet room.

Alan frowned, his gaze falling to the floor.

“What are you doing?”
