His Reluctant Luna

Chapter 60 - The cave of despair

Alice's POV -

"That's ridiculous!" I snapped at him. These two were being conned by Regina, they were blinded by their ambitions to see through it.

"How can you even trust this woman? She might be taking you both for a ride!"

"It is possible, isn't it?" He asked gruffly to Regina.

She trembled a little, "of course! You saw my poison worked isn't it?"

"It better do. I am paying a lot for this bitch!"

While they argued, I had figured out their whole plan. Regina wanted my blood for whatever spells she had been making, Savannah wanted to get rid of me to get my mate, and this Alpha wolf wanted me for his mate because of my healing power.

They got together and planned the trap, Regina started by luring rogue wolves from different packs to do her bidding. Then got interested in Alphas who wanted to steal me as their mate as her financiers. After losing Adam, this was her second financier.

"Hey if you are done arguing, can you tell me where is Clara? She has nothing to do with all this. Let her go." I said exasperated.

They turned towards me as if recalling I was still around.

"You are in no position to make demands," Savannah said.

"I know, and I am not going to fight it, but I want to see my niece."

"What if I refuse?" Regina said smirking.

"You are forgetting she is also Rick's daughter. Technically, there are two Alphas and their packs looking for us. One of them would figure out and reach this place, isn't it?" I smirked.

Regina looked nervous for a moment.

"Let's get on with the ceremony, what are you waiting for?" The man said to Regina.

"It can only be done at the witching hour... I need to prepare for it." She stammered.

"Then just do it, we don't have much time," Savannah said impatiently.

Savannah approached me cautiously.

"I am going to unchain you and take you towards the ceremonial altar, but if you try to be smart, I will kill Clara," Savannah said menacingly.

"Come on! You think I can fight all of you and that Alpha, whatever is his name?"

"Alpha Gregory, from the black stone pack, my lady." He said with a flourish.

I felt disgusted. I would have preferred to die than be with this man. After unshackling me, she took me out near the mouth of the cave. A tiny figure was huddled on the floor, shivering.

"Clara!" I ran towards her and touched her cold body.

"I want mommy," she cried weakly.

"We will go to mommy soon, sweetie," I picked up the scared girl and hugged her, checking her for any injuries. There was nothing major apart from some scratches.

"Aunty, I am scared of this bad lady," Clara cried.

"I am with you sweetie don't be afraid." I soothed her and brought her close to my body to warm her up.

Savannah rested on a stone opposite me.

"Aren't you going to tie me up?" I asked.

"You can't escape, Gregory has his Betas all around in the forest," She shrugged.

I sat in silence, clutching Clara, contemplating my next move. Clara slept in my arms, and even I dozed off a little. I was suddenly being shaken. I opened my eyes and looked at Savannah's brown ones. She looked excited.

"Come on, it's time." She said gleefully.

I had a strong urge to rip off her throat, but I could have never fought through so many wolves. I looked outside. The entire forest was engulfed in silvery moonlight. A few wolves were dragging a big slab of stone to be put in the centre of a circle made of skulls? I got up, carrying Clara in my arms, as Savannah led me towards the stone slab.

Lucian's POV -

It had been hours since Alice and Savannah had disappeared. Things were chaotic. It was quite apparent that this was a trap. Clara, Alice, and Savannah all had been taken by Regina and her minion. We were wrong. It's wasn't over yet. The rage and frustration were tearing me apart.

"Alpha, we found something." Peter, my best tracker arrived with Damon.

I nodded at them.

"We found this stone with traces of blood. It belongs to Madam Luna, the fingerprints had been wiped off, but we could trace one fingerprint. " Peter said.

My wolf howled to see her blood. Dame! She is hurt. Wolves mostly relied on their sense of smell and other instincts for tracking, but I had learned we couldn't rely on just that. Forensic science has much better results. I had invested in and trained my best trackers to use forensics as well. That is why they got accurate information.

"And whom does that fingerprint belong to?" I asked.

"We need to test that, but I am not sure whom should we test against?

"

"Everyone, check it against the entire pack's fingerprint database. Contact Fred to check the FBI database. If this rogue has a criminal record, we will be able to identify him." Fred was one of the pack wolves who was in the FBI. They didn't know he was a werewolf, of course. We had our people everywhere.

"I will ask Rick and other Alphas to check it against their pack members as well." I dismissed them and strode towards Rick.

Rick looked harassed, his hair was dishevelled, and he had dark circles under his eye, he was ordering his Betas with a stony expression. I could understand his agony of losing his daughter.

"Rick, If you have a database of your pack's fingerprints. My trackers would need it. They have found something." I explained the fingerprint found on the stone.

He looked alarmed and ordered his Betas to give us access to their database.

"Rick, how is Linda?" I asked, with concern.

His stony face faltered a little.

"She has been inconsolable, I sent her in to rest." He mumbled.noveldrama

"Rick, Aunt Flora has been looking for you, she is saying she can help." Rick's Beta, Bobby said as he came running towards us.

Rick and I exchanged a glance and ran towards his home. Aunt Flora and Linda were sitting in the living room. Linda's eyes were bloodshot, and she was staring ahead.

"You were asking for me, aunty?" Rick asked.

"Yes, I think this is done by Regina." She replied.

"But we killed her!" Rick said.

"Did you see her body? Can you confirm those witches were Regina? I believe she wasn't present in that house when you raided. Those were her minions."

"But how can you say this with surety?" I asked.

"She took Clara as well. Clara is a truly born witch. She would want such a witch in her coven."

Rick clasped his fist in anger, and Linda stifled a sob.

"Regina indulges in blood magic, that's why she had been after Alice. But she doesn't know one thing. Magic doesn't work on wolves. It can only work on humans."

"So why is she after Alice?" I asked.

"Alice has hybrid blood which is very rare, and it can be used to create powerful spells, but it will only work on humans, not wolves or other beings. And not on Alice herself. Her blood will cancel the effect of those spells."

"So she wants to use Alice as some kind of blood bank?" I asked, seething in anger.

"I believe so."

"Does she know that?" I asked.

She smiled.

"As far as I know, Regina..... No. She is not a real witch, and she doesn't pay attention to the details. What I mean to say is she won't kill Alice or Clara because she needs them."

"That's a relief. How do we find them?" Rick asked.

"The blood magic can be done only at a certain hour, it's a full moon night, most probably she would do the ceremony at the witching hour. And there is only one place in this state where it can be done. The cave of despair."

"What place is that?" I asked.

"It's about 3 hours from here. That cave was a sacrificial place for the natives. It has trapped souls in it. So, it has a bad aura around it. We witches call it the cave

of despair, it's perfect for blood magic. She would take Alice there."

"But we can't confirm if she took them to that cave?" Rick said.

"But this is our best bet. There is no harm in verifying it." I looked at my watch and

said.

"We must leave now."

Rick nodded. We got up and called for our Betas.

'Alpha. I have some news for you. ' Peter said through my mind link.

'Meet me immediately,' I commanded.

Peter rushed towards the driveway with our IT guy.

"What do you have?"

"We found the person with that figure print," Peter said.

"And?"

"I ran it through our systems and found the match effortlessly," he hesitated for a moment," I am sorry to say, it's Savannah."

The shock of the betrayal was not new for me. But getting betrayed twice made

me numb. Blood rushed into my ears and I fought with my wolf, who was just below the surface.

"Alright! Peter, get all our warriors, we are leaving now!" I commanded.

Several SUVS began to pile up, and the warriors from the 3 packs left for the Cave

of despair.
