Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1358

Chapter 1358

Fireworks shot up into the sky, and Pearl's name appeared when the fireworks burst above.

Pearl was still confused when a romantic tune started playing.

Luther approached her in a suit, holding a fresh bouquet of flowers.

Pearl instinctively stepped back as Luther came closer. "Luther, what are you doing?"

Luther just smiled and didn't answer her. When the music stopped, he knelt on one knee, sounding cheerful and gentle, "Pearl, will you marry me? I've been waiting for four years. I can't wait any longer."

Pearl knew Luther might feel differently about her, but she had always kept him at arm's length. She didn't want their relationship to go beyond friendship.

Yet, Luther's public proposal now seemed to corner her into saying yes.

Pearl frowned. "There are so many people here, Luther. Let's go home and talk about this." She wanted to spare his feelings. She didn't want to embarrass him by saying no in front of everyone, nor did she want to agree on the spot.

But the crowd misunderstood. Seeing her frozen, they thought she was too happy to speak. Some even came up and pulled at her clothes.

"Miss, just say yes. He's handsome, nice, rich, and romantic. He even arranged this big fireworks display. You'll regret it if you let him go."

Pearl forced a smile. "Please, don't try to convince me. We're not in the kind of relationship you think."

Some young women nearby were jealous of the grand gesture. They whispered, "Ugh, why is she acting so high and mighty? She doesn't want such a great guy and is just playing games here."

"Exactly, he's such a catch! Anyone would fall for him!"

"Oh, look at him. Isn't he the president of Luther Corp?"noveldrama

"She doesn't want the president of Luther Corp? That's absurd!"

"I know her. She works for Luther and has a kid... Ah, and Mister Luther doesn't mind that she's a divorcee with a child. Yet she's hesitating. How awful!"

Hearing their talk, Pearl just rolled her eyes inwardly. But on the surface, she forced a smile. "Luther, please don't do this..."

Luther usually respected her wishes. But now, he stayed kneeling, looking at her with hope. It felt like silent pressure to Pearl.

"I've gone to all this trouble to set up the fireworks. I've been in love with you for many years, Pearl. If possible, I really hope you'll marry me. Don't worry, I'll treat Darius like my own son..."

Luther's words were heartfelt, and most women would be moved.

But Pearl felt uneasy. She had read something that made her doubt his true intentions.

"Marry him! Marry him!" The crowd's cheers grew louder, almost drowning out Pearl's

voice.

Pearl was overwhelmed.

Suddenly, there was a loud bang nearby. The stored fireworks had accidentally ignited. Flames leaped into the air.

"It's exploded! Run!"

"Help!"
