Chapter 538
Chapter 538
Lucille slept soundly. She was really exhausted. Even after Franklin carried her from the bathroom to
the bedroom and put her gently on the bed, she did not wake up. She only frowned and hummed.
From the moment Lucille took a bath, Marie left the room, leaving all the space for them.
Even though it was winter, the room was heated and warm
Franklin put her down and covered her with the quilt.
He watched her sleeping soundly, and even her little face was quiet and beautiful. He could not help
but lean over and kiss her forehead, gradually going for her lips.
Perhaps it was because he had not touched a woman for a long time. Even a simple kiss gave him a
reaction and woke all his desires, and with his original personality, he would definitely go on regardless
of whether or not she was asleep.
But this time, he restrained himself.
"Sleep well." He gently fiddled with the strands of hair on her forehead. Then, he got up and left.
He still had other things to do.
Because Lucille was too tired, she slept from the afternoon all the way until the following morning. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
The next day, when it was still early, she woke up in full spirits and rummaged through the quilt... She
blushed instantly!
"My clothes..."
She sat up nervously and wrapped herself in the quilt, carefully recalling what happened the day
before.
She... She seemed to have accidentally fallen asleep while she took a bath.
"Here they are."
She did not know how long Franklin had stood by the door, and there was a faint smile on him. He
threw her the clothes that Marie had prepared on the bedside.
She stammered, "Yesterday... You..."
Seeing how helpless she was, Franklin asked innocently, "Do you think I am such a horrible person?"
She was speechless.
She took her clothes and hid under the quilt to put on her clothes before she came out.
After Lucille put on her clothes and got out of the bed, she did not know what to say to Franklin when
she passed by him.
Outside, Aurora was already sitting at the dining table. She looked at her with bright eyes and chubby
cheeks, "Mom, did you have a good sleep yesterday?"
Lucille's first thoughts were, "Did anything happen last night? Did I sleep with Franklin?"
However, she thought that since Aurora was less than three years old, she would not have such
complicated thoughts. She said awkwardly, "I did sleep well."
Franklin, who was beside her, saw the series of changes in Lucille's expressions and added, "Your
mother meant to say that she has not slept this well for many years."
"I didn't say that." She suddenly understood the meaning in his words, and her face flushed red.
Aurora did not understand. Looking at how energized Lucille was, she was happy. "Mommy, come and
eat!"
"Okay." Lucille sat down and looked at Franklin, who was behind her. She asked him, "Have you had
breakfast?" "No." After he finished speaking, he sat down on an empty chair at the dining table in a
familiar manner.
Aurora looked up and saw Lucille and Franklin together. Her little face was full of smiles. "Uncle, when
you are sitting here, it feels like I am eating with my mom and dad."
This was supposed to be an unintentional remark from an innocent child, but it stirred up ripples in both
of their hearts.
Lucille looked up at Franklin, and then she ate her meal with her head down. She did not say anything.
After lunch, Ralph personally sent Aurora to her art class.
After Marie cleaned up the plates, Franklin said, "I've found out where your father is buried."
"Where?"
"He's in a graveyard in the south of the city."
Franklin told her.
"I want to go, but... How can we get there?"
Lucille wanted to go, but when she heard the reporters' noise outside, she was scared.
She tried to go out before, but the reporters kept asking her about Marvin's death, and she
lost her courage to face them.
Franklin looked at the dejected look on her face and asked, "Do you know how to climb over a wall?"
He had already made a plan.
"What?"
"Get dressed and follow me."
He had planned everything the day before. After Lucille was dressed, he took her to the wall on the
west side of the art academy.
There was a sturdy ladder leaning beside the wall.
Before she could react, Franklin quickly climbed up the ladder. He then reached out to her and
shouted, "Hurry, come up!"
She immediately understood what he meant. She wanted to personally visit Marvin's grave, to explain
to him clearly about everything. Although she was afraid, she still reached out and climbed the ladder.
The wall of the art academy was taller than a human. When she reached the top of it and looked down,
she was so scared that her body went limp.
"How could it be so tall?"
Franklin opened his arms and hugged her. He whispered a few words in her ears, "Don't be afraid. I'm
right here. I will go down and catch you."
A car was parked below, which belonged to him. This was such a high wall, and he could not jump
directly, so he used the car as a landing pad. He even specifically drove an SUV over.
He was the first to jump down.
Lucille sat on the wall, but she dared not jump down; she could not even move.
"How about... I could forget about it."
Lucille's voice was trembling.
The wall was around four to five meters high. Even if she landed on Franklin's car, it was still a terribly
long distance.
"Don't be afraid. I'll catch you." He stood on the car and stretched out his arms.
"You need to give your father an explanation."
He understood why Lucille was reluctant to jump. The wall was around two stories tall. It was not
peculiar for ordinary people to be afraid of it.
Hearing him say so, she finally moved her legs little by little and dangled both of her feet outside.
"Don't be afraid. I will catch you. Trust me,"
Franklin said.
She lowered her head and looked into his firm eyes. Energy rose from the bottom of her heart for no
reason. She tightly grabbed the bricks on the wall with her fingers and encouraged herself. "I'll jump. I
am very heavy, you... You need to be careful."
"Don't worry. Just close your eyes and jump down."
He nodded to encourage her.
Lucille listened to him. She gently jumped forward with her eyes closed. When she jumped down, she
felt that she did not grasp the distance, but she was already out of options.
Just as she thought of the worst case scenario of her falling to the ground, she felt herself being caught
by a pair of firm and strong arms.
The next second, Franklin's voice was heard. "I said that I would catch you. I said I could do it, so you
don't have to worry."
She slowly opened her eyes and looked at Franklin, who was in front of her. She had only jumped over
a wall, but it seemed like she had survived a disaster. She excitedly opened her arms to hug him and
murmured, "I was so scared."
"Everything's alright now."
He jumped down from the car with her in his arms. There were a few footprints and a dent on his car.
When the two of them got in the car, Franklin leaned forward. He fastened her seatbelt for her and
drove to Marvin's grave.
