Chapter 60
Freya widened her eyes, her hand hidden in her sleeve already clenched into a fist. Luckily, she had prepared in advance. Elijah was monitoring her in secret, as expected. It had only been an hour since she went to the hospital, and he already knew.
“I caught a cold, went to get medicine,” she averted her gaze from Elijah and replied.
She had done an ultrasound at the hospital, and she just needed to talk to the doctor to erase the record. It wasn’t a surgical procedure that required mandatory documentation. To divert attention, she bought some cold medicine. Now, it seemed fortunate that she had planned it thoroughly.
Freya instinctively covered her belly.
Elijah watched her movements and asked, “You catch a cold, and your stomach hurts too?”
Freya immediately withdrew her hand. “I, I caught a cold. Can’t a cold cause stomach pain too?”
She pretended to be calm. Elijah fell silent for a moment. This was indeed possible.
“You better not lie. If the investigators find out you’re not really sick and you deceived me, you know, I’ll make you wish you were dead.”
After saying that, he turned away.
Freya called him, “Where are you going?”
“I have an appointment at K with someone. I won’t be having dinner at home tonight.” As he spoke, he looked back at Freya. Then he walked out.
…
After Elijah finished his business and left, he encountered Liora Valentine at the door.
She was dressed up. Clearly, she deliberately came.
“What a coincidence!” Liora smiled gently.
Elijah’s face turned sullen.
This woman could always appear so coincidentally. He didn’t believe it was a coincidence.
“Liora Valentine, it seems you haven’t taken my words to heart. Are you following me?” Elijah’s face was dark, his voice laced with sharpness. “It seems that I’ve been too good to you.”
“Check who provided her with my whereabouts.” He asked his secretary.
“Yes, sir. I’ll check right away.”
Liora didn’t expect Elijah to be so ruthless, leaving her no chance at all.
“You know that I’m a woman who has had your child. Even if the child is gone, I’m still your woman. Why are you treating me so cruelly?” Liora was extremely aggrieved. She reached out and grabbed Elijah’s clothes. “Why are you so ruthless to me? Please, give me a chance.”
Elijah stared at her hand with a cold voice, “Let go!”
Liora let go reluctantly. “Are you really going to abandon a woman who truly loves you?”
“Love me?” Elijah found it laughable.
He didn’t like here, probably everything about her was not good. Besides, Elijah had seen Liora in the arms of another man. He couldn’t summon any goodwill towards Liora Valentine any more.
“That night, we…”
“Shut up.” Elijah felt disgusted looking at her. Even the little bit of beauty left from that night was tarnished by her.
“Liora, can a woman who casually gives herself to a stranger be considered pure, conservative, and reserved? If you need money, I can agree, but if you bring up that night again, don’t blame me for being merciless.”
With that said, Elijah walked away.
Liora knew that she couldn’t win him back like this.
This man was determined.
Her clenched fists hung at her sides.
“Elijah, do you want to know why I know about your whereabouts?” Elijah heard her words but didn’t stop. He probably thought she was trying to keep him with some means.
Liora couldn’t get Elijah, and she didn’t want Freya to be better off. “It’s Freya!”
“It’s Freya who told me about your whereabouts!” Liora shouted without caring about her image.
Elijah finally stopped when he heard that it was Freya who revealed his whereabouts.
He lowly ordered his secretary, “Bring her over.”
The secretary turned and went to Liora. “Mr Silverton wants to see you.”
Liora knew that by mentioning Freya Stone’s name, Elijah would be interested.
But he would also be very angry, right?
She felt a bit triumphant. Since she couldn’t be happy, then no one should be happy. She didn’t really advise against betraying Freya. She collaborated with Freya in the first place to get close to Elijah. Now, that plan had failed and she didn’t need to keep this secret for Freya.
Liora walked up to Elijah, took out her phone, and found the text message communication record between her and Freya to show him. Freya’s reports were clearly stated, with precise times and locations.
“Why did she tell you these things?” Elijah already had a guess in his mind.
He just didn’t want to believe it. He didn’t want to believe that the woman he pushed into the arms of another woman was the one who betrayed him.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“She hopes that we can be together, so she can leave. She wants you to let her go.” Liora said. Feeling not enough, she added, “The reason she wants to leave is that she has a man waiting for her. Her private life is chaotic. When she was in the hospital, she used her looks to seduce male doctors.”
Elijah believed that Freya wanted to run away and he believed that she had a man in her heart.
Seducing men with her looks? Freya did have that capability. Because she had also seduced him.
Even though Elijah was angry with Freya, there was not the slightest flaw in front of Liora. With a cold face and a chilling tone, he mocked, “Did we have a good time together?”
A muffled sound came from his chest, “You’re not much better than Freya Stone either.”
After saying this, he turned around, got into the car, and drove away.
…
Back at the villa, everyone had already gone to sleep. It was quiet everywhere.
Elijah took steps upstairs. Pushing open the bedroom door, a sliver of moonlight slanted in from outside. He walked in with the moonlight, closed the door.
Freya was already asleep. She didn’t sleep well, curled up at the edge of the bed. Her black hair spread like seaweed, covering the pillow. Exposed was a delicate and exquisite half of her face.
Elijah stood by the bed, took off his suit jacket and casually threw it on the floor. Immediately after, he unbuttoned his shirt one by one. His face was away from the light, shrouded in darkness.
Freya moved a bit, turning over. It seemed like she felt a dark shadow by the bedside. She squinted her eyes. It seemed like there was someone. She rubbed her eyes to try to see clearly. Soon, she saw a tall figure. A white shirt slipped off from him. Freya instantly woke up.
“Elijah… What are you doing?”
She sat up, wrapped in the blanket. Elijah remained silent, like a fierce beast, staring at his prey.
“You undress yourself, or should I undress you?” His voice lacked any warmth. There was only endless coldness in it.
Freya was dumbfounded.
“Did you drink too much at the social gathering?”
“I’ll count to three. One, two…”
“Elijah, are you out of your mind?” Freya felt a sense of fear.
Elijah’s emotions seemed really off.
“Three!”
With that, Elijah forcefully pulled the blanket off her. Freya hugged her legs, curled up on the bed, glaring at him.
“Elijah, if you dare touch me, I will never forgive you!”
Elijah seemed to find it amusing, a deeply sinister expression on his face. In the next second, he pressed her down on the bed.
