Chapter 34 Miscarriage
Elijah woke up with the strong smell of disinfectant filling his nostrils. He slowly sat up and his secretary came over to help him.
“Mr Silverton,” she said, extending her hand to assist him.
Elijah waved her off and said, “No need.” He paused for a moment and asked, “How’s Xander?”
“He’s not in danger of losing his life. He had a minor surgery and is currently in a coma but has yet to wake up.” The secretary replied.
“You have a mild concussion,” the doctor said. “You need rest. Would you like to sleep for a while?”
Thinking about the blood on Liora Valentine’s legs, Elijah pursed his lips and remained silent for a moment before asking, “How is Liora Valentine?”
“The doctor says she had an abortion with minor scratches on her body but nothing serious. She just woke up when I arrived at the hospital room next door,” the secretary hesitated before asking, “Should I call her over?”
Elijah raised his hand indicating that it wasn’t necessary. He felt conflicted about Liora Valentine; he was even unwilling to let her be the mother of his child. But as a father who lost their child now, he couldn’t help feeling sad if he didn’t do something about it; otherwise, that feeling would remain trapped inside him.
“Has law enforcement been involved?” he asked.
“They have intervened but haven’t found out who did it yet.”
Elijah remembered seeing that boy crawl out of the car unscathed then run away scared without knowing whether or not they had their driver’s license or anything else important regarding them being caught by police officers first-hand so he instructed them saying, “Go find out what happened before law enforcement does! Don’t kill anyone though. Give them some deep lessons. Also call in the surgeon who operated on Liora Valentine.”
He saw blood on Liora Valentine’s body himself which made him believe without any doubt that she was carrying their child all along despite how suspiciously she acted beforehand so he needed clarity regarding this matter. He absolutely wouldn’t allow anyone from playing games with him over this kind of thing.
“I understand, I’ll go now.” Replied Elijah’s secretary.
Elijah closed his eyes and said, “Go ahead.”
The door to the ward was closed, and Elijah was still sitting by the bed, feeling inexplicably relieved that he didn’t have to worry about the constant quarrel between his child and Liora Valentine.
He lay back on the hospital bed and closed his eyes to rest.
…
Hospital.
Freya got off work early and had a seminar to attend with her doctor. She left the hospital early and got off work. She came out of the hospital and was about to take a taxi when the driver drove over.
Freya asked in surprise, “Didn’t you leave?”
The driver got out and opened the door for her. “Mr Silverton instructed me to pick you up from work and take you home, ma’am.” He said. “I’ll be your regular driver from now on.”
Freya pursed her lips, wondering why Elijah would go to such lengths for her when Liora Valentine was already pregnant with his child. But she got into the car nonetheless and thanked the driver before he drove off.
The driver closed the door for her and trotted to the driver’s seat before starting the car.
“Madam, are you going home?”
Hearing the word home, Freya lowered her eyes. Was that villa a home?
She shook her head, “Go to Mr Jack Silverton’s house.”
The driver said yes and drove over.
It took more than twenty minutes for the car to arrive at the old mansion, but Jack Silverton was not there. Deck also went out with him.
Freya came here to tell Jack Silverton that Liora Valentine was pregnant. Presumably Jack would let her leave if he knew that Elijah was going to have a child and that there was a woman he liked. That way, she didn’t break her promise, but Jack was not here, so she had no choice but to go back.
On the way back, she asked the driver to stop the car, “It’s not far from the villa. You should go back. I want to walk alone.”
“But..”
“But what?” asked Freya.
The driver said, “Mr Silverton asked me to pick you up and drop you off. You haven’t gotten home yet.”
Freya smiled, “You’re such a jerk.”
The driver stopped the car.
Freya opened the door and got out.
Walking along the quiet road and touching her belly, Freya couldn’t help but think about Orion Russo’s words about divorcing Elijah as soon as possible so that he could be with Liora and their child without any complications. Moreover, when her belly got bigger, it would be difficult to conceal the truth that she was pregnant. She knew it was time to let go of their marriage and move on with her life.
The leaves rustled in the breeze. As summer passed and autumn came, the sun was no longer so harsh. The wind was blowing, and she could already feel a little cool.
Freya gathered her clothes and quickened her pace, preparing to go back and cook a dinner and file for divorce with Elijah Silverton that night.
Suddenly, a car pulled up in front of her, blocking her path. Several people got out and without any explanation, they put a black cloth bag over her head, covered her mouth, dragged her into the car, and then drove away.
“Um…”
Freya was completely immobilized and unable to move.
She didn’t know how long it was until she was dragged out, and in front of her was a dark void where she couldn’t see anyone. But no one covered her mouth anymore.
“Who are you guys? Why are you arresting me?”
“B778VQ, is this your car?”
Freya responded with a nod. This was the car her mother had bought for her with all of her savings after she started working, saying it would be convenient for her commute. Freya had been driving it ever since, but after marrying into the Silverton family, the car remained with the Stone family.
“What’s wrong…?”
Before she could even speak, she was kicked hard and curled up in pain, trembling. “You… ah…”
The attacks came from her back, legs, and waist. She was beaten, and she hunched over to protect her stomach. She groaned in pain.
“Who are you?” asked Freya.
Her palms were sweating and trembling uncontrollably. She had no strength left to speak, weakly asking, “Why did you capture me…”
“Who made you drive recklessly and flee after causing an accident?”
Freya was completely baffled, “My car, I haven’t driven it for over two months…”
“Don’t argue, we have already checked and the car is registered under your name.”
After he finished speaking, he kicked her twice in the stomach.
“Uh…”
Although Freya tried her best to protect her belly, she still couldn’t keep her child safe and felt a dull pain in her abdomen.
“Don’t you even see who you hit and who gave you the courage? Mr Silverton’s car, and yet you dare to crash into it. You’re really living impatiently!”
Big beads of sweat came out and dripped down. She held her hands tightly, and it didn’t hurt when her nails dug into her skin. Aside from despair, there was hatred in her eyes. Her lips were pale and trembling. Trembling, she asked, “Is it Elijah Silverton?”
“You’re not the one to say that name.”
Seeing the blood between her legs, the men did not continue. Their superiors told them to teach her a lesson and not to kill her, so they left her and walked away.
Freya was unable to move for a moment, with pain permeating every part of her body. She struggled to reach for her phone and dialed Orion Russo’s number.
The phone was quickly answered and Freya cried, “Orion, help, please save my child…”
“Where are you?” Orion asked.
Freya weakly pulled off the black cloth bag on her head. This place was deserted and she didn’t know where it was.
“Send me the location,” Orion said anxiously.
Freya quickly sent the location. While waiting for Orion Russo, she tried to save herself, but blood was already flowing from between her legs. She knew it was too late to be saved.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
A tear fell and disappeared into the dust on the ground.
Orion arrived and saw Freya lying in the rubble. He picked her up and comforted her as he walked quickly. “It’s going to be okay, I’ll save you.”
Freya spoke hoarsely, “Can you save… save my children?”
Orion glanced at her pants stained with blood. He fell silent. It was already too late for them. But he still tried to comfort her by saying, “I’ll do my best.”
He carefully put her in his car and drove away quickly towards the Stone family’s house.
Elowen Noir didn’t tell Freya that she had been discharged from hospital because she felt that it was something she needed to deal with on her own. She had already burdened their daughter enough; she couldn’t continue dragging them down any further. She came back home partly to pack up their things and partly to talk face-to-face with Leo Stone about getting a divorce.
As she approached their house with keys in hand, she heard screams of terror coming from inside.
