Chapter 15 What, Trying to Seduce Me?
She had already prepared herself, but the thought of facing him still made her heart shrink. His ferocity from yesterday was still vivid in her mind.
Freya took a deep breath, summoning courage, and stepped into the house. Upon pushing the door open, she saw Linda.
Linda smiled and asked, “Off work?”
Freya nodded, looking inside. She saw someone on the sofa but couldn’t see his face.
“Mr Silverton is here.” Linda said.
Freya changed her shoes and walked in, forcing a smile. “Mr Silverton.”
Elijah set down his financial magazine, glanced at her, and with a mocking tone, said, “Mr Silverton?”
This woman who was unwilling to divorce him was acting distant in front of him. Was she playing a game of cat and mouse?
Freya had already apologized and sincerely said, “I didn’t mean to touch your things. I’m really sorry.”
“Do you think that by saying sorry, I’ll forgive you?” Elijah leaned back lazily, legs elegantly crossed.
For some reason, seeing this woman, he couldn’t help but enjoy watching her be careful and cautious around him. Suppressing her seemed like a lot of fun.
If Freya Stone knew what he was thinking, she would definitely curse him as a pervert. But in reality, she was just a pitiful person forced to bow her head to survive.
Freya focused for a moment. For the sake of her job, she forced herself to please him. She poured a glass of water and offered it with a forced smile. “Mr Silverton, please forgive my impertinence.”
Her forced smile irritated Elijah.
“Your smile is really ugly.”
Freya tried to relax her expression, but in front of this man, she couldn’t. She bit her lip, attempting to make him satisfied and lowered herself. “I’m sorry.”
“If you want to apologize, you need to show sincerity. For example, by leaving voluntarily?” Elijah leaned back, his tone cutting.
Perhaps, from his perspective, Freya was an intruder.
Maybe she should just leave.
However, she didn’t intend to intrude. Everyone knew Elijah Silverton was unwilling, unwilling to marry her.
But did she willingly want to marry him?
Who had ever considered her feelings?
She stared at him with her beautiful, clear eyes, which were now sparkling with teardrops.
When Elijah met her gaze, he felt a slight pang of familiarity. He pretended to be calm and averted his gaze. Slightly softening his tone, he asked, “What? Do you want to play the victim and make me sympathize with you?”
Freya forced back the bitterness, trying to keep her voice calm. “It’s not that I don’t want to divorce you. I signed a guarantee with your grandfather and can’t divorce you.”
In the past, she wouldn’t have disclosed her personal affairs to others, seeking sympathy. But the situation now didn’t allow her to be too strong.
“My mother was ill. With your grandfather’s help, she was treated. I have to stay by your side. Do you think this marriage is only something you dislike?”
Elijah squinted, a cold glint in his eyes. “So, you don’t want the marriage?”
“Of course, I don’t want to. If it weren’t for saving my mother, I would never have agreed to marry you!” She restrained the bitterness. She was not someone to be restrained by others, and she wouldn’t be in such a plight.
Elijah sneered. Did she mean she didn’t want to marry him? Was it only reluctantly for the sake of her mother?
Why did he feel so upset?
“Is marrying me tormenting you?” His voice was biting as he spoke through gritted teeth.
“Yes,” she answered frankly.
Her response completely infuriated Elijah!NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
Veins bulged on his forehead. When did this marriage become something she was unwilling to accept?
What kind of person did she think she was?
What qualifications did she have?!
As an impure woman, did she have the right to refuse?
It was an insult to him!
“Marriage to me is painful for you, isn’t it?” His tone was icy as he stood up, and the corners of his lips showed a sinister smile.
Freya Stone didn’t understand why he was angry.
Truthfully, she replied, “Yes.”
Every minute and every second spent with Elijah was torture for her. Her unhesitant response clearly conveyed her resistance.
Elijah snorted abruptly stood up. “Since you find it so torturous, then endure it!”
He had no intention of leaving, even if he didn’t like it. He would drag it out with her!
“Mr Silverton…”
“Regarding your work, as long as I’m here, don’t worry, you won’t get it back anymore!” Elijah declared harshly.
Freya Stone, desperate, grabbed his clothing. “I really love my job, and I really need this job. Please…”
Elijah, annoyed by her grip, directly pushed her away. Fatigued, Freya collapsed onto the sofa. Her clothes were disheveled, revealing a slender waist, delicate and seemingly fragile. It provoked a desire to ravish her in his arms. His gaze darkened, his voice chilled, masking a hint of hoarseness, “What, trying to seduce me?”
Freya felt drained; the fall reignited the pain in her head. Looking down, she saw her disheveled clothes and hurriedly pulled them down.
“Even if you were naked standing in front of me, I wouldn’t be interested.” He said, each word cutting like a knife.
Sharp words cut deep.
Freya remained silent. Because she knew she couldn’t persuade someone so cold-hearted.
Elijah ascended the stairs, while Freya slumped on the sofa, unwilling to move.
Linda, seeing Elijah leave, cautiously approached Freya. “You don’t look well. Are you sick?”
Freya shook her head. “No.”
“You haven’t had dinner, have you? Would you like something to eat?” Linda suggested.
Freya had no appetite; nothing could be eaten at this moment.
“I want to sleep.”
Elijah went upstairs. Freya didn’t know which room he would go to, so she stayed on the sofa. “Bring me a blanket, please.”
Seeing her exhausted, Linda fetched a thin blanket and considerately covered her. “You sleep. I’ll warm up the food for you, and you can eat when you wake up.”
Freya Stone, with heavy eyelids, looked at Linda. Linda was undoubtedly the only person in this chilly mansion who made her feel warmth.
“Thank you, Linda.” Her voice was hoarse.
“You’re welcome.” Linda smiled.
Freya slowly closed her eyes. Linda turned off the main light, leaving only two night lights on. She slept soundly and didn’t wake up until after eleven. Linda had also gone to bed.
In the middle of the night, Elijah came downstairs to pour some water and saw Freya lying on the sofa. The thin blanket had slipped to the floor. He walked over, glanced at her, and showed no intention of covering her. However, as he turned to leave, she suddenly grabbed his robe. With a forceful pull, the tie unraveled, revealing his muscular and powerful physique.
He instantly flared up.
Harshly, he asked, “What are you doing?!”
