Chapter 25 Don't You Want to Go
Chapter 25 Don't You Want to Go
Claudia was surprised to see Hanna here.
As Amber looked at the woman who suddenly appeared in front of her, her eyes suddenly looked
glassy. Her face looked cold. “What are you doing here?”
After she questioned Hanna, Amber added, “And what did you mean by what you just said?”
Hanna looked at her. The smile on her face looked tender and beautiful. And she was as peaceful as a
lady, showing her temperament as an heiress.
Her voice sounded soft, and she said lightly, “Mrs. Crawford and Ben asked me to be Conrad's
governess and to help Claudia take care of Conrad.”
Amber was shocked, “A governess?”
How could she not know that Hanna was a teacher once?
It was obvious that her coming to be a governess was a lie. And her other intentions were the real deal!
“Did they ask you to look after Conrad? How come I never heard that you were a teacher?” Amber
asked. The look of panic on her face and the look of jealousy in her eyes gave herself away.
Hanna curled her lips gently, “That's true. It's true that I don't have a degree in teaching, but Ben and
Mrs. Crawford have insisted that I be Conrad's governess, so there's nothing I can do about it!”
She didn't want to talk to Amber anymore. The instant her voice broke off, she walked over and
intimately took Claudia's arm, “Come on, let's go home.”
Claudia was slightly stunned. She couldn't imagine Hanna's sudden appearance. And she didn't know
what her intention was in saying this.
However, before Hanna left, Amber added, “Miss Lewis, since you've come to the Evans Group, so I
guess you might have something important to do.”
“I don't have anything important to do. I just happened to be here on an errand!” Hanna turned around
and explained.
Amber's almond-shaped eyes blinked, “I wonder what errand it is?”
Seeing that Amber wanted to know why she was here, Hanna turned around and said, “It's about the
auction of the Evans Group's old mansion and cemetery in the suburbs. Why?”
Amber was not shocked by her words. However, her words made Claudia's mind go blank, and Claudia
was shocked to her core.
The old mansion was going to be auctioned off?
When did this happen? As the only heiress of the Evans family, Claudia's only family property was
going to be auctioned off...
Hanna sent Claudia and her son back to the Crawford house. In the end, Hanna spoke slowly, as if
clearing the doubts on Claudia's mind.
“Are you wondering why the old mansion of the Evans Group is auctioned off?”
Her words brought Claudia back from her depressing thoughts in an instant. Then she looked at the
woman in the driver's seat with dismay.
Hanna turned her head, looked at her, and added, “I don't know exactly why. As the only offspring of
the Evans family, you surely wouldn't want the old mansion to be auctioned off, do you?”
Claudia wondered what Hanna was trying to tell her.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
Claudia's eyes were glued to her face as she frowned slightly.
“Coincidentally, the Lewis Group happens to be in charge of this project...” Claudia was surprised to
hear this.
And her implication was clear.
The Lewis Group had always been in the real estate business, so it made sense that they would be in
charge of the auction. And the Evans Group had borrowed a very high amount of money from Lewis
Group many years ago. Because Evans Group had been defaulting on its debts, the Lewis Group took
back its mortgaged old mansion.
“I can help you to keep the old mansion as long as you want, but in terms of money...”
Hanna drawled. And an embarrassed look clearly appeared on her face.
Claudia wondered if it was about money.
Claudia hesitated. The Evans Group's only old mansion, where she had lived as a child and the
cemetery where all of her ancestors were buried, was of great significance.
“Why don't you talk to Ben about this? If you have enough money, I can help keep the mansion for
you.” Hanna said frankly.
Claudia lowered her eyes and said she would have to think about it.
As she watched Hanna drive away, she sighed slowly. If she wanted to redeem the old mansion, she
would need hundreds of millions of dollars. However, would Ben lend her that money?
When she got back to her room, Claudia bathed Conrad, changed his diaper, and put him to bed. Then
she had some time to text Kim about this.
Kim called Claudia five minutes after receiving her message.
“Theodore and Blair are going too far! The old mansion is yours! How can they just auction it off?”
Kim was a quick-tempered person. Especially when it came to this kind of matter, she was furious.
“People like them are the worst! Claudia, we must not be soft on this!”
However, what could Claudia do if she didn't listen to them?
Claudia wasn't even sure why the Evans Group's old mansion was being auctioned off. Even if she
wanted to redeem it, she would need a large sum of money!
“Didn't Theodore want to get the CCM project? You're so smart, Claudia. Think of a way to trap him!”
Kim said.
Claudia frowned. What scheme was she going to come up with?
“Anyway, you can't just sit there and do nothing! How about you turning to Ben for help? He's your
husband, after all. And he won't refuse to help his wife, will he?”
As soon as she said that, the bedroom door was pushed open.
Claudia was startled and hung up the phone in a hurry.
The handsome man stepped into the bedroom and casually untied his tie and threw it on the floor.
Then he loosened a few buttons on the collar of his shirt.
Claudia looked at him. She almost met Ben's black eyes. Then the next second, she quickly looked
down and closed her eyes slightly. She avoided him and walked out the door.
Ben didn't like being in the same room with her.
Except for sex, he avoided her quickly and looked disgustingly after every crazy sex they had...
“Wait!”
His low, cold voice rang out abruptly. Claudia was stunned all of a sudden.
Before she could react, he carried her in his arms. Both of them spun around, then Claudia was pushed
directly against the wall. Ben trapped her between his chest and the wall.
He propped one hand next to her head while his other hand playfully cupped her chin, forcing Claudia
to meet his eyes. He gazed into her clear eyes. Her beautiful face was as fresh as the scenery.
Although Ben and Claudia had been married for almost a year, he had never looked at her so carefully.
Even though she didn't talk at all, she looked very gentle and tender.
His eyes were deep, while Claudia's heart thumped wildly. There was a complicated look in her eyes.
“Claudia, when is your birthday?”
She suddenly froze and looked surprised.
“Your birthday!”
He repeated. His deep, cold voice sounded threatening.
At the same time, Ben let go of his hand. Although Claudia did not understand his intention, she took
out her phone as soon as possible and typed “July 22” on the screen.
Ben glanced at it and frowned, “July 22, really?”
She thought about it and typed in another sentence, “Yes.”
Ben noted it in his heart.
Then he let her go. Claudia did not dare think much and could not flatter herself. As she was about to
leave, her wrist was clasped in his hand.
Claudia paused for a moment. The next thing she saw was his deep eyes. In a low voice, he continued,
“Go and change your clothes. There's a party tonight!”
Party again?
Claudia was horrified. She wondered how there could be a party again? And didn't he always refuse to
take her to such occasions?
Seeing the doubt in her eyes, he quickly pinched her jaw, “What's wrong? Don't you want to go?”
She heard his cold words clearly and they struck her heart.
Claudia shook her head. Then she nodded quickly again, embarrassed.
At that moment, the confused look on her face made her look attractive and sweet instead.
As Ben gradually released her hand, Claudia turned, quickened her pace, and hurried out of the
bedroom.
