Chapter 52
Chapter 52 Don’t Need Him Anymore
“And no one knows me better than you do,” Cedric reasoned.
Maia snapped, “You jerk!”
“lam one,” he said readily.
If he could be with her again by being a jerk, then he was willing to become one forever.
“Cedric, I'll pay for your medical expenses. But if you think I'll care for you, you have another thing coming!” Maia shoved him off and broke free.
Although Cedric’s life was not in danger, his injury was rather severe. Her push made him gasp and frown as he felt the sharp pain in his back.
Maia took a few steps back.
“Cut the act, okay? I’m not falling for this again.” She would not go near him after finally breaking free from his grip. She then turned around and headed
away.
He wanted to give chase but could only watch her go out of sight. His pale face let out a bitter
smile.
“I'm back for you, but you don’t need me anymore, huh?”
Maia walked toward the elevator. When she passed the nurse’s station, she stopped and thought of his coughing and the push she gave him.
She approached a nurse and asked, “Can you please check the patient's wound in Room 508?” The nurse recognized her and knew who was the VIP staying in that room. She quickly nodded. “I'll take a look immediately.”
The nurse hurried toward Cedric’s room. Seeing her rush away, Maia felt she had done what she should. She then took the elevator to the lobby on the first floor.
Seeing Maia, Jordan gave her a file. “Here’s Cedric’s medical report. I’ve settled the expenses. and even made an advance payment. Rest assured that they will take good care of Cedric here.”
“Thank you, Jordan. I'll pay you back when | get home to Prismara.”
All her belongings were in the hotel, so she was penniless now.
“Don't sweat it. It’s been a long day for you. Come rest at my place.”
“Sorry for all the trouble, Jordan.”
“No trouble at all,” Jordan smiled kindly and took Maia to his apartment near the hospital.
Jordan stayed in a newly developed residential area in Eldertown, unaffected by the flood.
“Maia, my son just returned with the rescue team and is resting at my apartment. But don’t worry about him. He's a good kid.”
She nodded and entered the three-bedroom apartment. When the door was opened, Maia saw a naked man and quickly turned around.
Jordan was embarrassed and said, “Maia, can you wait outside?”
He let out an awkward smile and quickly closed the door. Maia could hear loud slapping sounds and Jordan’s angry yelling. “Aiken Cantrell, couldn’t you wear clothes after your shower?”
“Dad, it hurts!”
Aiken Cantrell? Maia didn’t see the person's face just now. Jordan’s son was Aiken Cantrell?
Suddenly, a loud smack was heard, and Aiken howled in pain. Who would have thought the famous movie star would get his ass kicked by his dad?NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
“Come on, Dad! | didn’t know you were bringing your girlfriend home. By the way, since when do you have one?” Aiken said, “Hey, watch your mouth, okay? Or I’m going to crush your balls.”
His balls?
“Jordan, go easy on him, okay?” Maia said from outside the door.
“It's fine. | smack his buttocks all the time.”
Maia chuckled. Two minutes later, the door opened. This time, Aiken was adequately dressed in a T-shirt and sweat pants. “Maia?” Aiken was astonished to see her. “Weren’t you waiting for rescue in the hotel? How did you end up here?”
Jordon glanced at him and then at Maia. “You guys know each other?”
“He helped me when | stayed in the hotel.”
Jordan nodded. “I see.”
He looked at Aiken, who was standing beside the sofa. “All right, I'll forgive you then, your little brat!” 3
“Come on, Dad. I’m now an idol, okay? What if you spoil my image?” Aiken checked his face in the mirror and combed his hair. “Then you can get a real job!”
“Dad...”
Jordan threw a pillow at him and continued to scold him.
Maia lowered her head, trying hard not to laugh. That made him feel embarrassed. After all, he
was a famous movie actor now.
Clearing his throat, he palmed his stomach and said, “I’m starving. Anything to eat here?”
“I'll whip up something.” Jordan headed toward the kitchen.
“Let me help you.” Maia rolled up her sleeves and followed after him.
Very soon, a simple meal of three dishes was served. As many of the stores were closed due to the hurricane, they were thankful that Jordan's kitchen was well-stocked
“Woah, cheese omelette?” Aiken ate a mouthful. “It’s not bad, and there’s no eggshell in it! Great job, Dad.”
“Shut your mouth, you little brat! Maia made this, and you started without her.”
