Whispers Of Betrayal (Anastasia and Alastor)

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

After ending the phone call with Sienna, Anastasia called Alastor again.

“Darling. I fell asleep on the plane. Mr. Lexington urgently summoned me over. I was angry at that time and forgot to inform you. I’m sorry, and I’m already in Atharia.”

Over on the other side, Alastor had investigated Anastasia’s itinerary, finding out that she had indeed gone to Atharia.

“You’re angry?” Alastor’s voice was very low and sounded a bit weary.

Anastasia’s decision to throw a tantrum and travel to Atharia while turning off her phone clearly infuriated Alastor.

“Should I be angry? I didn’t take it to heart.” Anastasia said sensibly. “We can talk about it when I get back.”

“Okay, I’ll pick you up at the airport when you come back.” Alastor then hung up the phone.

Staring at her phone screen, Anastasia fell into a prolonged silence. She wondered, “Why does it feel like I’m the one at fault?

How sensible must I be to become the perfect wife in Alastor’s heart?!

With a hint of irony in her smile, Anastasia looked up at the sky.

As it turned out, being a wife required her to be entirely sensible and tactful, while being a lover meant she could act

without restraint.

It was clear whether he loved her or not.

Anastasia took a picture of the airport and posted it on Instagram with the caption: [The grass is not greener here. Miss home, miss you.]

Anastasia posted this for Felicia to see. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

She assumed Felicia wanted so badly for her to leave Hork.

Based on Anastasia’s understanding of Felicia, the latter would undoubtedly be eager to assert her ownership over Alastor.

To Felicia, sharing an intimate moment with Alastor on his and Anastasia’s bed must be something worth showing off

To Anastasia, however, she found it gross.

It was very disgusting.

Suppressing the nauseating sensation in her stomach. Anastasia got into her best friend’s car.

“Anastasia, you hadn’t dealt with Alastor and that cheap woman yet? If I were you, I would have torn them apart and caused a scene at their company.” Kimberly was still furious, finding it hard to eat or sleep these days.

She was worried about Anastasia.

Anastasia removed her sunglasses and gazed out of the window. Her voice sounded somewhat feeble. “Causing a scene at the company would lead to divorce. It would provide them with opportunities and give Alastor a reason to blame me for not being sensible. How could I let them off so easily…”

Kimberly glanced at Anastasia worriedly and felt so sorry for her friend. “Then what are you planning to do?”

“It’s more effective to wound his heart. I want Alastor to be indebted to me for the rest of his life,” Anastasia sneered, closing her eyes with a throbbing headache.

“No matter what you do, I will support you,” Kimberly said firmly.

Anastasia smiled. “It’s good to have you.”

Kimberly didn’t say anything and brought Anastasia to her rented condominium.

“The residents in this building are mostly Clusians. Many of them are international students, and students get special treatment. The handsome guy I mentioned earlier, Jason, lives across from us.”

“Jason? That’s a nice name. How good–looking is he? Does he have a six–pack and chest muscles?” Anastasia felt quite down and decided to crack a joke.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Anastasia bumped into a sturdy chest.

The tall man was around six feet tall in height and was dressed casually. There was a faint and pleasant fragrance emanating from him, not from perfume, which didn’t make her feel repelled.

Four years ago, she agreed to marry Alastor spontaneously because he was the cleanest and most impressive man she had ever encountered at first sight.

J–Jason… Kimberly stammered and forced a smile.

Anastasia lowered her head and had no time to think about anything else because her nose was bleeding.

Jason lowered his head and looked at Anastasia with a meaningful gaze. His handsome smile was so radiant that it outshone even a celebrity’s. “I’m sorry for bumping into you. Let me take you to the hospital.”

Kimberly raised her hand and covered her eyes. “How embarrassing!” she thought

“No… It’s fine.” Anastasia covered her nose and ran away with Kimberly in tow

“It was so embarrassing! Jason must have heard my joke just now!” Anastasia mused.

Feeling embarrassed, the two hurriedly ran away, their heads hung low, leaving their suitcases behind in the elevator.

“Kimberly, your suitcase” Jason took the suitcases out, called Kimberly’s name, and said again with a smile. “Is this the girl you want to introduce me to?”

Kimberly grabbed the suitcase. “Yes. She’s my best friend.”

“You can come to my house when you have time tonight. Today happens to be my birthday” Jason smiled at Anastasia.

Anastasia felt a sharp pain in her heart as if she had been stabbed.

When Jason smiled, he bore a striking resemblance to an old friend of hers who had disappeared from her life for a long

time.

The old friend was once very important in her life.
