“I’ll hold the plate for you,” he said casually, a small smirk playing at his lips. “That way, you can eat comfortably.”

Hadley shot him a knowing look but didn’t call him out on his excuse. Instead, she picked up a piece of grilled salmon and popped it into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out slightly as she chewed.

Eric’s gaze softened. There was something effortlessly endearing about her in that moment. Then, as if testing the waters, he asked carefully, “Have you seen Denver?”

Hadley paused mid-bite, blinking in mild confusion. “No… is he here too?”

Eric nodded, tilting his head toward a certain direction. “Yeah. Over there. Can you spot him?”
