The World of Beasts: She's Got Their Hearts

Analise blinked. Her vision was finally starting to clear.

Nutrient packs might taste terrible, but there was no denying they worked. The effects were already kicking in. She figured the blackout had been caused by a combination of her period just ending and the sudden strain of purifying so much venom at once.

She hadn't felt a thing during that minute or so of unconsciousness-until the awful bitterness of the nutrient pack hit her tongue and pulled her back to the surface.

"Are there any available rooms? Finlay can stay with Ana while she rests," Scott said, glancing at Jay, then toward Karl. "I'll speak with the Young Lord and Lord Hansen about the Ironhorn Alliance matters."

"Yes. Major Knight, please carry Ms. Chambers, and I'll show you the way," Jay responded quickly and headed out to lead the way.

Analise was too exhausted to respond. She lay down and quickly fell asleep.

By the time she woke, Scott had already wrapped up the meeting with Karl and Wayne Hansen.

"Ms. Chambers, Major Knight, Lord Hansen invites you to dine with us in the Hall of Warriors," Jay informed them after a knock on the door.

Analise and Finlay followed Jay to the grand hall. By the time they arrived, Scott and the others were already seated.

Because of her status as a female, and more importantly, as the one who had saved Karl, she was given a seat of honor at Wayne's right side. Karl sat on Wayne's left. Scott and Finlay took seats beside her.

"So, you're Ms. Chambers?" Wayne asked with a friendly smile.

"Yes. Good evening, Lord Hansen," Analise said politely, offering a polite smile. Back in the human era, Analise's job required a lot of relationship building, so she always smiled out of habit whenever someone greeted her.

"Ms. Chambers, you're so kind and thoughtful. My son is lucky to have caught your eye." Wayne looked at Analise with satisfaction. He felt relieved for Karl.

By now, everyone in Interstellar Alliance knew Analise was the first pure-human female discovered to possess mind essence-and not only that, her calming ability was stronger than most therian females.

It was clear, she would attract attention. Just like females were drawn to powerful males with strong mind essence, males also admired strength in their partners-especially when it came to calming abilities.

Wayne seemed convinced that Karl was lucky to be chosen by her. But Analise was still trying to figure out when exactly that had happened.

Analise noticed Karl's reddened ears, and he kept sneaking glances at her. She wondered if it was because she held Karl's horns during the purification process.

was normal for females to make the

first move in relationships. That would explain why Jay, Scott, and Finlay had looked like they were holding something back earlier. They probably weren't sure if she had already chosen Karl without realizing it herself.

"Karl is a strong fighter, but he's always been a bit too kindhearted. This Vexoth Venom attack might finally teach him to be more careful," Wayne said, casting Karl a knowing glance.

"Dad, Ms. Chambers came straight here to help me. She hasn't eaten yet. Maybe we should give her a break from all the talking," Karl glanced at Analise and said, stopping Wayne from taking the conversation further.

"You're right. I'm just getting carried away." Wayne gave her an apologetic smile. "You must be hungry. Jay, bring in the food."

"Yes, my lord," Jay said before stepping outside to alert the staff.

"I hope you find the dishes to your liking, Ms. Chambers. Admiral Hopkins mentioned a few meals you enjoy-pure-human recipes. This is the kitchen's first

time making them, but I hope they turned out well."

Wayne ordered the staff to serve Analise the dishes.

She looked over the dishes and immediately recognized them as the ones Finlay had cooked for her just a few days ago.
