The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 491

Noelle didn't explain much to Rosie at that moment. Instead, she went along with whatever her daughter said to soothe her.

Sure enough, Rosie quickly brightened up again. She began excitedly sharing her plans of what she was going to do after getting out of the hospital.

Noelle sat quietly beside her, listening attentively.

When the nurse came in with medication, Rosie didn't complain. She dutifully took her medicine, though the side effects made her uncomfortable. She simply lay in the bed, clinging tightly to Noelle's hand.noveldrama

Noelle patted her gently on the shoulder while softly singing a lullaby. Her position was awkward, but she didn't dare move, as Rosie had been feeling insecure lately. She often became upset if she woke up and didn't see Noelle or if she had trouble sleeping.

So, Noelle stayed still. It wasn't until Rosie was sound asleep did she slowly withdraw her hand.

The caregiver, who had been sitting quietly nearby, approached cautiously after Rosie fell asleep. "Ms. Swanson. I just saw someone outside. Do you know them?"

Noelle was taken aback. A thought immediately flashed through her mind, but she quickly dismissed it. After all, she knew Hendrix well. After how Rosie treated him, he was probably furious and had already left. She was even worried that he might refuse to go through with the transplant because of Rosie's treatment of him.

But when she stepped outside, she realized her worry was unnecessary. Hendrix was still there.

He was sitting in the same spot when Noelle returned earlier, but this time, he wasn't holding a tablet. He just sat there all alone with his head bowed, lost in thought.

After giving it some thought, Noelle walked over to him. "I'm sorry."

Hendrix quickly looked up at the sound of her voice. He stared at her, as if asking why she was apologizing.

Noelle continued, "Rosie hasn't been

in the best of mood lately. She didn't to act like that earlier, sod

hoan

you won't hold it against her."

Her explanation felt weak and forced.

Hendrix studied her for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Has Dylan met Rosie?"

Noelle wasn't sure why he was asking this, but after a brief pause, she nodded. "He came to visit tod—"

"I know," Hendrix interrupted impatiently. "I saw the two of you talking in the yard."

Noelle wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but his tone seemed to carry a tone of mockery. She didn't understand what he was mocking, though.

After all, her meetings with Dylan were perfectly aboveboard. It wasn't as if they had done anything they needed to hide. But she didn't argue, simply hummed in

acknowledgment.

However, her response only seemed to irritate Hendrix further.

He stared at her for a while before saying, "Noelle, I don't care who you're with, but Rosie is my kid. I hope you haven't forgotten that."

Noelle frowned, unsure what he was getting at.

Hendrix let out a cold laugh. "Listen carefully, Noelle. I, Hendrix Freeman, will never let my kid call another man 'Daddy.' So, if you're planning to remarry, hand Rosie over to me! I will raise her!"
