The Night I Let Go

Chapter 24

"Ethan's grandmother was nearing the end of her life, so Ethan had hurried home from overseas to see her one last time. That was why he called Wendy. He wanted Wendy to pose as his girlfriend to fulfill his grandmother's final wish."

Zachary fell silent again.

He remembered that Wendy's explanation to him back then was that something had come up at the company and that she had to make an impromptu business trip.

However, the truth was that Wendy had lied to him. She had gone out of town with Ethan to meet the latter's grandmother.

At that thought, Zachary laughed at himself.

He'd thought the five years following their marriage were wonderful. In truth, in those five years, there were lies and betrayals.

It was just that Wendy had kept them so well hidden, and Zachary had trusted her too much. That was why he had never doubted her.

Ellen dropped a bombshell. "Ethan's grandmother said she wanted grandchildren, so Wendy stayed at Ethan's family home for seven days! They spent every day together. They even slept in the same room. What do you think? Did Wendy cheat on you three years ago?"

Zachary pretended to be calm, but he was actually furious. "How do you know about all this?"

"I know because I have proof." Ellen winked.

At that point, Margaret had already served up the grilled food. Then, she carried over a case of beer.

Holding a beer opener, Ellen deftly opened two bottles of beer and handed Zachary one of them. Zachary didn't accept it.

"I can show you the proof and tell you all that I know, but you have to get drunk with me tonight."

Unconcerned, Ellen set the beer in front of Zachary and then made a few quick taps on her phone.

Zachary's phone chimed.

He checked it and saw that Ellen had sent him a photo.

It was a photo of a man and a woman's interlocking hands.

However, Zachary could tell at a glance that that was the hand of his wife, Wendy.

The main reason he could recognize it so easily was because of the diamond ring on her ring finger.

It was the custom-made ring he had mmissioned back when he

I to Wendy. It was one

kind. There was no other ring with the same design.

"Do you believe me now?"

Ellen poured herself a glass of beer but didn't drink it immediately. Instead, she gently swirled the glass in her hand.

"My relationship with Wendy is ancient history. I have no desire or need to know anything about her," Zachary said with indifference.

Still, he poured himself a glass of beer and chugged it down.

"I didn't tell you this to drive a wedge between you two. I just think it's unfair to you. You were so fond of her and adored her so much, but she treated you like an idiot and kept everything from you!"

Ellen gave Zachary a sympathetic look and drained her glass as well.

Right away, she filled her glass again and said, "I didn't spy on Wendy. The photo

I sent you was from her social media."

Zachary said nothing as his eyes trembled slightly. Under the table, his hand unwittingly balled into a fist.

"You couldn't see it because she blocked you. Isn't that heartrending? Wait. There's more."

A meaningful smile appeared on

Ellen's face. She filled Zachary's glass and continued, "You're the only person she's blocked. Do you

understand what that means?

Everyone knew, except for you.

Unbelievable, right?

"Here, see for yourself. Scroll up. I have access to all her posts, from five years ago up until now."

She continued to fan the flames. "Over the years, her parents have even liked and commented on her posts."
