Chapter 617 Cannot Come to an Agreement
"Samuel, are you okay?" Sierra tried to help Samuel up, but before she could get
close, Elijah swiftly pulled her away.
"Miss, you'd better stay away from this man. He's bad luck. Anyone who gets
involved with him will end up suffering."
"Don't touch me!" Sierra pushed Elijah away. "I saw everything just now. You were
the one who hit him!"
Her eyes welled up with tears. "How can you just attack someone like that?"
"So what if I hit him? Do I need permission?" Elijah looked at Sierra like she was
the crazy one. "You're that Sierra from before, aren't you? Do you even know what
kind of person you married?
"This man has no empathy and sense of gratitude. Watch out, as he might just
use you."
"Samuel has nothing to use me for. He's my husband! What you did was wrong."
Sierra supported Samuel and demanded, "Apologize to him."
"Me? Apologize?" Elijah pointed at himself in disbelief. "Do you even know what
The said?
"Miss, if your brain is flooded, have it drained out. You may be blind enough to
treat him like a treasure, but don't expect the rest of us to be as blind as you. I'm
giving you good advice here, so don't be ungrateful."
"Get lost!" Sierra was fuming. "I don't want to hear anything from you."
"Fine, whatever. I don't even want to talk to you." Elijah rolled his eyes. "You're
just lucky I don't hit women. Otherwise, I'd let you have a taste of my beating as
well."
"Elijah, get over here," Natalie called out, turning away.
Elijah immediately straightened up and responded respectfully before trotting over
to her side.
Sierra's eyes were red with frustration. She was too weak to lift Samuel on her
own, so she called some beachgoers to help her.
"With the help of some passersby, she managed to get Samuel onto the platform
and then into a car heading toward the hospital.
"Samuel, did things not go well with Sophia again?"
"Look at me. Do you think things went well?" Samuel shut his eyes. "Marcus and
Natalie are protecting her. And Elijah, whoever he is, just started throwing
punches like some kind of brute."
"Samuel, does it hurt?"noveldrama
"My leg is broken. What do you think?"
Sierra pursed her lips, unsure of how to respond.
Samuel forced himself to endure the pain. "Sophia has people backing her now.
Marcus and Natalie are standing by her side. That bodyguard earlier is Marcus'
man. It looks like there's no way Sophia and I can come to an agreement.
"When we were on the beach earlier, Natalie told Marcus to remove my name
from their wedding guest list."
Just thinking about it made Samuel irritated. "If we're going to build our business
in Dithoria State, we can't afford to offend the Walker and Holden families.
"Dad even said that if everything goes smoothly, we should gradually transfer our
family's business over here.
"Marcus didn't even ask for both sides of the story and just stood by Sophia.
Honestly, I'm starting to wonder if something is going on between them."
Sierra looked nervous as she said, "Marcus is about to marry Natalie. If he and
Sophia had something going on, that would be betraying Natalie. Samuel, you
shouldn't say things like that."
Seeing Sierra's shocked and disapproving gaze, Samuel took a deep breath.
"Sorry, I was just overthinking things.
"But you know as well as I do that Sophia used to be engaged to Sky, yet she was
secretly involved with a housekeeper in the Walker family for a long time. She has
a history of this kind of thing."
"Wait, where did you even hear that?" Sierra's expression darkened. "Samuel,
Sophia is your sister. Why are you siding with outsiders instead of her?
"Is a housekeeper in the Walker
family more important than Sophia
is? Instead of believing your sister
you're choosing to trust a
housekeeper and defend him?
really don't understand why you'd
think this."
"I'm not wrong," Samuel said as his face turned grim. "Natalie isn't some saint
either. Even though she's the real daughter of the Walker family, her return ruined
Emma's life."
"Stop the car." Sierra suddenly ordered the cab driver to pull over. She stepped
out and said, "Mister, take him to the hospital. I'll pay extra."
She pulled out a hundred-dollar bill from her wallet and handed it to the driver.
"Once you get him to the hospital, just make sure the doctors and nurses take him
in. You don't need to do anything else."
"Got it." The cab driver took the money and drove off.
"Cee! Cee, what are you doing?" Samuel shouted from inside the car, but Sierra
turned on her heel and stormed off without a second glance.
She was afraid that if she kept talking to Samuel, they'd end up in a huge
argument. Her eyes were filled with unshed tears. Back when they were abroad,
Samuel had never spoken like this.
Back then, he had worried about
Samantha and Sophia. He had said
that he would fulfill his duties as a
son and a brother, taking good care
of them when they returned to
Dithoria State. But now that the was
back, he was saying all these cruel
and hateful things just because
Sophia refused to let him take
control of the company.
Jonathan had already assured him that the Remington family's company would
eventually be handed over to him.
Sierra couldn't understand why Samuel had changed so suddenly.
Sophia was his sister. Could it be that what that big brute had said on the beach
was true? That Samuel had no empathy and gratitude?
If that were the case, then she had to seriously reconsider whether she wanted to
continue down this path with him.
How could anyone choose to side with a housekeeper over their own sister?
Sierra stormed off, her pace quick and determined. By the time she managed to
calm down, she suddenly realized she had wandered into an empty park.
Her phone rang at this moment. She looked down at the caller ID and found that it
was Samuel. She hesitated, not wanting to answer. But after taking a few deep
breaths, she picked up.
"Hello, Samuel."
"Cee, why did you leave me there alone?" Samuel's low voice carried a hint of
grievance. "You're my wife. Why aren't you on my side? Do you think I was wrong
too?
"You and I were sent abroad as kids. Mom never visited us once all these years.
Sophia stayed in the Sinclair residence in Dithoria State, and she got so much
more than we ever did.
"Now that we're back, not only does
she refuse to welcome us, but she's
even joined forces with Mom to shut
us out and keep me away from the
company. Does Mom only belong to
her? Is Sinclair Group only hers?"
What do you think?
