The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 503 The Phone in the Safe

Natalie stepped forward and pulled Grace up. "Save your confessions for the officials, not me."

"I know what you're investigating, Nattie, and I know you're working with the police department. The password to the safe in my room is your birthday. Please, go get

it."

Grace continued to plead. "If I have to die, so be it. But before that, I really want to know if my daughter is still alive and if she's doing well. I have to know, or I'll take this regret to my grave."noveldrama

Just then, someone knocked on the door. "Please come out for a second, Ms. Walker," one of the officers said.

"Alright."

Natalie turned to Marcus. "You stay here and watch after her, Marcus."

Marcus nodded in reply.

Then, he stepped forward and placed a firm hand on Grace's shoulder, guiding her back into the chair.

"Megan was introduced to the Holdens by Lucy back then. Lucy took her own life, and her body was sent back to the Maines."

With a cold voice, Marcus asked, "How well did you know Lucy, Mrs. Langley Senior?"

Grace froze. After a moment of hesitation, she nodded slightly, then shook her head as if confused. "I saw her with Cassie before. She had feelings for a married man, but he never reciprocated. So, Cassie drugged that man and lured him to a hotel. I don't know if anything happened between him and Lucy, but I do know that Cassie was behind it."

"That man was Elijah and Noah's father," Marcus said as he tapped his fingers on the desk lightly. "Jessy is Lucy's biological daughter, but there is no familial connection between her and Elijah or Noah."

Grace looked a little puzzled. "Why are you telling me this, Mr. Holden?"

"Cassie was trying to set me up with Jessy before," Marcus stated bluntly. "Lucy has been overseas for years, but Jessy stayed close to Cassie. And if anyone knows where Megan is, it's probably Cassie.

"Since Cassie is missing, I assume you'd have spoken to her at some point."

Grace finally pieced it together. "Cassie used Jessy as leverage to threaten Lucy. So when your mother's Umbrahex was exposed, Lucy killed herself to show her loyalty to Cassie, hoping she'd leave Jessy alone. Is that what you're saying?"

"Smart thinking, Mrs. Langley Senior," Marcus remarked, smirking. "If Cassie could manipulate Lucy for years using Jessy, then, as you said, Megan was involved in harming my mother. So, do you think Cassie has control over her too?

"I'll be honest, my people have been hunting down those involved in harming my mother, but so far, we've only tracked down Julie and Lucy. There's not a single lead on the others.

"Julie is Lucy's assistant, yet someone kept her locked away all these years, torturing her. She barely escaped, and by sheer luck, my people rescued her. So, think carefully, Mrs. Langley Senior. Who's really behind all these?"

Grace was momentarily frozen, her gaze locked on Marcus. He was undeniably handsome, but his cold demeanor and emotionless voice sent a chill through the

air.

Grace carefully thought over Marcus' words. If there was someone behind all of this, could it be the mysterious woman who had pressured her into cooperating years ago?

What was the mysterious woman's purpose in all of this?

Despite being Wesley's biological sister, Cassie fell in love with him. To win his love, she made efforts to gain Laura's trust, making Laura think of her as a sister. Then, after Laura gave birth, Cassie poisoned her with Umbrahex.

The way Laura was separated from her baby right after birth was eerily similar to how that mysterious woman took Grace's daughter back then.

The only difference was that Laura had Wesley by her side. They spent decades searching for a cure, and against all odds, they eventually found a doctor who freed her from Umbrahex.

Unlike them, Grace wasn't so lucky. She might have escaped being poisoned, but she had been separated from her daughter, never seeing her again.

"Are you ready to tell the truth, Mrs. Langley Senior?"

Marcus drummed his fingers lightly on the table. "This might be one of the last chances you have to see me and Natalie."

"I'm telling the truth." Grace steadied herself, meeting Marcus' gaze. "Every word of it."

She continued, "That mysterious woman was real. She came to me back then, promising to make the Langleys the richest in Amberton-but only if I followed her orders. Everything I did was because of her instructions.

"Even swapping Natalie and Emma at the hospital was her doing. I never saw her face, never knew who she really was. But I do know she wasn't Cassie because when she approached me, Cassie was just a child.

"Besides, she was also the one who told me to use Natalie to get close to your grandfather, to make him take me in as his godsister. Without her, how could I have ever crossed paths with your grandfather, let alone become his godsister?

"I've told you everything I know, Mr. Holden. If you need more proof, go to my room and take the phone from my safe just spoke to that woman not long ago, and she was furious. She said I shouldn't have reached out, and then threatened me.

"Other than that, she said if I wanted my daughter to stay safe, I had to keep obeying her. She warned met have to take responsibility and keep her identity a secret. If I expose her, my daughter will be spread across different countries, watching me from afar. She's threatening to tear my daughter apart and sell her across the world, Mr. Holden."

Grace's emotions settled as she spoke. She sat back, a faint but unsettling smile forming on her face.

"Now I want to know who this mysterious woman is and why she's been pulling

the strings all this time. She put this plan in motion years ago, so what is she truly

after?"

Marcus held Grace's gaze, studying her intently. After a long silence, he was convinced that Grace was telling the truth.

"Mrs. Langley Senior, I'll get the phone you've mentioned. I hope you didn't lie to me."

With that, Marcus stood up and left the interrogation room.

Outside the interrogation room, Natalie had just finished talking to the officers. She looked over at Marcus, and he acknowledged her with a slight nod.

"That's the plan. We'll divide and move separately," the officer said to Natalie.

She nodded. "Okay. We'll work closely with you and report any updates as soon as we have them."

"Ms. Walker, Mr. Holden, we're grateful for your help."

"You're welcome."

After a few polite words, they split up, each focusing on their own responsibility.
