Frank's moves already left Lassie horrified, but the bitch was this strong too?

"You actually used a knife, kid? I guess you really want a piece of me!"

Jada picked up the dropped dagger and was ready to kill Lassie.

"Stop!" Frank suddenly snapped at her, and Lassie seized the moment to scramble to his feet, hop on one of the vans, and speed off.

Jada returned to Frank, "He's going to bring more trouble if we spare him now, sir!"

Frank chuckled. "Actually, I'd like more trouble! The residents didn't believe me when I told them that Lassie was never on their side, so I'd like to prove them wrong!"noveldrama

Jada nodded in realization and threw a thumbs-up. "You're the best when it comes to toying with people, sir. I can't even hope to reach your level!"

Frank chuckled. "Save the quips. Just go already."

"Okay!"

After sending off Jada, Frank met up with Sylvie, who was confused. "Why do I have to stay? Strictly speaking, you're the archaeological expert."

"No, no, no."

Frank laughed. "You're the expert here-there's many things that I have no idea how to preserve, and you know they would be lost forever if it's damaged, so I still need you."

Sylvie thought about it and had to agree, and hence, she did not argue.

By evening, Frank led the residents to Huxlem right as the moon was directly overhead.

As her glow illuminated the ground, Frank immediately saw a spot of frost that was especially thick and pointed at it. "There. Let's take a look!"

Nonetheless, as everyone started walking toward it, there was a deafening boom of machinery.

Everyone turned to find themselves staring at over a dozen excavators, led by none other than Lassie himself.

Seeing Lassie, Jeeves snapped furiously, "That rotten brat! You're right, boy-he's one greedy pig!"

As the other residents realized what was happening, they all quickly stood in front of the excavators.

As the excavators stopped, Lassie snapped in annoyance, "What are you doing?! I'm here to help!"

"Sure," Jeeves growled coolly. "Then when you dig out the treasure, we'll split the shares in half. How about that?"

Lassie's expression darkened. "Could you stop playing dumb, Grandad? This is just the tomb of the maestro. We don't know if there's treasure!"

And with those words, he gestured for the excavators to continue forward, sending the residents flinching.

"Lassie! What do you think you're doing?"

"What am doing, you ask? There's only that much treasure, and so many of us. But without witnesses miles around, would anyone know if you all died here?"

However, the drivers were afraid to actually mow down the residents and stopped just in front of them.

Livid, Lassie bellowed, "Don't get cold feet now! I'll definitely share the treasure with you once we get it! Just go!"

Naturally, he had used his silver tongue to entice the drivers before they came, and most of them bought his story.

And at his order, they no longer held any qualms and drove their excavators forward.

But at the very last moment, Frank strode up and seized Lassie by the throat. You're really ruthless. And here thought you were just after the treasure... but you were actually plotting murder from the start!"

However, Lassie was not afraid at all as he had lost all semblance of sanity, even laughing maniacally. "Can you stop them even if you could kill me?! Sure, you can fight, but fregret to inform you that you're nothing against the might of industrial machinery!"
