Chapter 5
Chapter 5 A Petty Man that Speaks Arrogantly
They had all witnessed it with their own eyes-those swollen, lumpy welts on Grace's skin began to disappear, and the bulging veins slowly sank back beneath her flesh.
An hour later, Davina was the first to step out of the room.
"She's awake now, and she can move around on her own," Davina said calmly. "I've written down all the medical instructions—just follow them exactly. I left them with Sacha. You can visit her, but keep it quiet. The patient needs rest."
The moment the Barlows heard that, they rushed into the room in shock and awe.
Jude stood up abruptly.
As he brushed past Davina with long, confident strides, he paused briefly, his voice low and rough. "Daddy."
Davina's lips curled into a faint smile. "Mm."
Jude's smirk deepened as he continued into the room without looking back.
Davina strolled over to where Jude had been sitting, picked up an orange, and began peeling
it.
She hadn't eaten all day. Straight out of prison and into emergency treatment-she needed something to keep her going.
When the Barlows came back out, their attitude toward her had completely flipped.
"I'm so sorry, Dr. Summer! I didn't recognize greatness when I saw it!" George said, practically shaking with excitement. "From now on, if you ever need anything and our family can help- just say the word!"
"Dr. Summer, you're a lifesaver."

Jude left shortly after visiting Grace-he'd gotten an urgent call.
But before walking out, he cast one last look at Davina. It was intense, almost predatory, a mix
of curiosity and amusement that he didn't bother to hide.
"If I get the chance," he said, "I'd like to take my Daddy out for a meal."
With that, he left with his entourage.
Davina popped a slice of orange into her mouth, watching his retreating figure.
Then she commented inwardly. This guy made such a grand entrance and has good looks, but he's so petty and spoke so arrogantly.
She turned back to Sacha, who was now wiping tears from her eyes in gratitude.
Sacha caught the cue immediately. She offered, "I'll drive you myself. Don't worry, everything's
taken care of. From this moment on, you're my daughter-and the rightful heiress to the Barlows."
Davina smiled faintly. "Alright."
That had been part of the deal when she agreed to treat Grace—to have a proper place to live after prison.
But she didn't expect Sacha to go so far as to give her a full identity.
Davina had looked into the Barlows a little before, just from what her family used to say in passing.
The Barlows had a long-standing reputation, with two generations of high-ranking politicians in their lineage. That alone placed them at the top tier of elite families.
Even though they now focused on business, their empire was vast, monopolistic, and ranked in the top hundred globally.
Compared to the Summers? They're not even close.
The Summers had barely made the Fortune 500 list, and their social clout in high society didn't come anywhere near the Barlows.
It turned out Grace had once made major contributions to the country in her youth. To the Barlows, she wasn't just family-she was a symbol of honor. That's why they'd gone to such lengths for her illness.
And now that Davina had healed her, she'd become the family's greatest benefactor. As Sacha drove Davina to the villa, she began to fill her in about Jude's background. "His name is Jude Wilson. My sister's son-so, technically, my nephew. But truthfully, aside from me, he's not close to anyone else in the family. A bit of a strange one. Not many people get through to him. Still, he's got a good heart. Ever since my mom fell ill, he's been the one flying back and forth, bringing in top specialists. Just that... nothing has worked so far." Sacha chuckled softly, then glanced at Davina. "The reason everyone treats him with such deference is because he's the youngest grandson of the Wilsons-yes, the Wilsons of Vlonio. Don't worry if you don't recognize the name right now-but soon, you will."
A good guy?
Davina wasn't buying it.
That man... not a trace of good anywhere on him.
He reminded her of a bloodthirsty wolf-ruthless, cold, and cunning enough to chew through bones and spit out dust.
She searched her inherited memories for the name Vlonio Wilsons, but there wasn't much.noveldrama
Just fragments-snippets overheard from her family, who never accepted her.
Even so, it was enough to piece together one thing. The Wilsons weren't just above the Barlows they were far above.
Which explained why the Barlows treated Jude like royalty.
Still, judging by the fear in their eyes when they looked at him, Sacha wasn't telling her the whole story.
While they were talking, the car pulled into a villa in the heart of the city.
The villa had been decorated to suit a young woman's tastes-bright, elegant, and clearly expensive.
It wasn't exactly Davina's style, but she didn't mind it.
Lined up neatly at the entrance were the butler and house staff, standing at attention. "Welcome home, Ms. Davina," they said in unison.
