The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance

Chapter 647

Seeing Stella's hesitation, Abby coaxed her, "Sellers is out of control-what if he tries something again? At least if Joshua's with you, you'll have someone on your side."

Stella considered it for a moment, then nodded gently.noveldrama

"Alright. Let's have him come with me."

"I'll go get Joshua," Abby said, heading off.

As soon as Abby left, Stella reached for her phone, planning to call Foreman- only for his name to flash on the screen first.

There was a tightness in his voice he couldn't hide. "Star, I heard you were in a car accident last night. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Stella replied.

Foreman already knew Sellers had been in a crash. Sellers had been lucky, surviving with barely a scratch, and while Foreman felt a twinge of regret, he quickly let it go.

What he hadn't expected was to hear that Stella had been involved, too-in the very same accident as Sellers.

If not for her quick reflexes behind the wheel, she might have been caught up in his mess. The thought had left Foreman cold with fear ever since he heard.

Stella recounted what had happened. "Haynes and I were on our way to pick up the kids. Sellers was probably driving Aurora home, so we ended up on the same route and ran into each other. Luckily, traffic was light last night. Otherwise, it could've been a pileup."

Foreman knew all about the long-standing feud between Stella and Sellers. She'd never kept it from him.

Now, hearing she was truly alright, Foreman finally let out a sigh of relief.

He lowered his voice. "Star, I'm sorry."

Stella was puzzled. "This had nothing to do with you. Why are you apologizing?"

He paused, then said quietly, "I should've done a better job protecting you."

Stella laughed. "Foreman, I'm not made of glass. I can take care of myself-and see? I'm perfectly fine."

In that moment, Stella felt a surge of gratitude for learning to drive all those years ago. If she hadn't, there might have been a very different outcome.

They talked for a little while longer before Stella broached another topic. "Actually, there's something I need your help with-if you're able."

Foreman was already feeling guilty about her accident. As soon as she asked, he jumped in, "Star, whatever you need, just say the word."

"I have to meet Sellers for dinner tonight," Stella said. “Is there any way you can get Jasper to show up at the same restaurant?"

Foreman's tone changed. "A date?"

Stella explained, "You know about my situation with Mr. Burton. He's trying to set me up with Sellers, soz that's why we're having dinner. think Sellers resents me for it he probably thinks I'm scheming, that I have ulterior motives. That's why he was so hostile when we first met."

After coming home last night, Stella had turned it over and over in her mind.

Sellers' dislike for her wasn't just a fluke-he'd probably been holding on to it for a long time. Even Sherman suspected she was cozying up: Mr. Burton for her own reasons. Sellers would only be more suspicious.

"But honestly, it doesn't matter anymore what he thinks," Stella said. "The real issue is, Sellers' brakes failing like that—Jasper's fingerprints are all over it."

Foreman sucked in a sharp breath. "...What makes you say that?"

Stella replied, "There aren't many, people bold enough to go after Sellers, but Jasper is definitely one of them. He knows Sellers and have history, and he'd have no

qualms using Sellers to get rid of me." śwnovel

Foreman was silent for a long while.

Since they were only speaking on the phone, Stella didn't notice the change in his mood.

She went on, "We can't just let this slide. Jasper's gotten away with far too much. It's time someone taught him a lesson."
