Chapter 1365
Mirabella had a pretty good idea of what David was getting at. Her eyes flicked over the tin box, and without bringing up the Stevenson family, she just explained, "I was just lucky to learn a bit of medicine from a master. This thing is a keepsake from my mentor."
She wasn't surprised that David recognized the pattern on the box. Being the president of the Pharmaceutical Association, he was well-versed in such things. Plus, he was an apprentice taken in by an elder from his clan, so it wasn't unusual for him to spot it.
When David heard her explanation, he couldn't help but think of himself. He too had studied under a skilled mentor, but his talents were limited, and he hadn't quite mastered the art of medicine and pharmacy as well as he would have liked.
Comparisons can be a bit of a downer. After a moment, David snapped back to reality, handed the box back to Mirabella, and sincerely said, "Don't worry, I won't breathe a word of this to anyone."
Whether or not she was related to a hidden family, just the rumor of Mirabella being linked to the Stevenson family could spell endless trouble for her.
"Alright." Mirabella nodded, not saying much else. "Thank you. You should get some rest now. I'll come back in a few days to treat you."
David agreed, and as Mirabella was about to leave, something else crossed his mind. He quickly called out to her, "No matter if you have ties to that family or not, steer clear of the association for now. No matter who calls you there, just don't go."
Mirabella looked at David, puzzled.
Remembering a phone call he accidentally overheard from Presley, David added, "There's a group hunting for people from that family, and they might be a big deal. Your medical skills and unique medicines make you a potential target."
A flash of cold determination passed through Mirabella's eyes. "I get it, thanks for the heads-up."
Seeing that Mirabella was taking his warning seriously, David felt a bit of relief.
Mirabella didn't linger and left the room quickly. David watched the door, still looking worried.
Lost in thought, he grabbed his jacket from beside him, pulled out his phone, and scrolled through his contacts to call his assistant.
Even though Devon hinted yesterday that his assistant might have switched sides to Presley, David knew that wasn't true.noveldrama
After working with Grant for over a decade, David knew exactly what kind of person he was.
Grant must have been busy, as the phone rang for ages before he finally picked
up right before it was about to go to voicemail.
Before Grant could say a word, David jumped in, "I need you to the storeroom and get that bot medicine Mirabella brought to the association."

In the car, Mirabella mulled over David's warning, along with what she'd learned from James the day before. The fake 'Cian' vanished near the Pharmaceutical Association, and there might be a link between these incidents.
After all, for those folks, starting their search from the association would make it easier to track down their target.
Mirabella rubbed her temples, then
remembered something. She grabbed her phone and shot a message to Cassandra, asking where Morgan was these days.
But whether it was a bad signal on Cassandra's end or something else, her message showed as undelivered after a few minutes.
Though Mirabella found it odd, she chalked it up to the shoddy network back home and patiently hit resend.
