Chapter Thirty Five

Alex

I was so shocked that I couldn't move, I'm sure Tracy was shocked too because she stopped moving

too.

I would have expected everything but not my dad playing with the twins like this, the twins were sitting

on his legs and playing with his beards while he made funny faces to make them laugh.

I looked at Tracy whose mouth was hanging open, then I looked back at my dad and the twins who

haven't noticed us yet.

"Do you think we are in some kind of Alternate universe?" Tracy asked whispering

"Yeah I do," I replied whispering too

My dad noticed us and cleared his throat, while the kids kept playing with his beards.

"What?" He asked as we kept staring at him

"What?"

"I'm playing with my grandchildren." He said as if we asked him what he was doing, my father is not the

type that plays with kids, I don't have any memory of him playing with me and my sister when we were

younger.

"I didn't notice your car or anything, why?" I asked sitting on the sofa

"Yeah, the driver dropped me here then he left, he'll bring my suitcase tomorrow."

"Why didn't you bring mum?"

"Why should I bring her?, She doesn't even want to see me."

"What did you do again?"

"Mind your business." He said and I shook my head.

"You can sleep in my room tonight."

"Son, I'm sleeping in your room till I leave." He said and I rolled my eyes

"Let's go get ready for bed," Tracy said and the kids went with her.

"I'd be going to bed too then." My dad said and we both went upstairs, I showed my dad my room and I

joined Tracy in the kid's room.

We read them their new bedtime story and when we were sure they were asleep we left their room

then we went into Tracy's room.

Things were awkward at first as we both sat on the edge of the bed, I had to break the silence.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm good."

"I hope my dad didn't stress you much."

"No he didn't, so what is he like? Your dad."

"I'd say overly ambitious, maybe he doesn't know he is overly ambitious, but then he is, he doesn't

have time for his kids, his family in general but he has a soft spot for our mum, they argue a lot about

things but then he has a soft spot for her."

"Then why did you tell me you are as good as an orphan when we met?"

"Oh that, because I was mad at them, my Dad forced me to come and close a deal for him here, my

mum supported him so yeah, I was mad at them."

"You and your dad, you are similar."

"What do you mean?"

"You both act like you are strong but deep inside you just want the best for your family, you both have

soft sides."

"The way you described my dad, he's not actually like that."

"I don't get."

"He is the reason why I was away for six years, remember on our wedding night I received a call and I

went out to talk to the person, that was my dad, he threatened to do something to you, he also

threatened your family, I had to go to New York the next day, and when I got there he threatened to hurt

you and your family if I don't work until his company is the number one company in New York, he even

told me to cut communication with you until that happens, it took me years to make it happen and he

didn't keep his promise, he made me work for years Tracy, and you say we act the same way?" I asked

and she smiled.

"Listen to yourself, he probably doesn't want you to marry someone that is not good for you, and you

said he is overly ambitious, maybe he is but remember he was working to give you and your mother a

better life before he became overly ambitious, and you said he was threatening me, what can he do to

me?, Make me and my family lose everything? What else would he do?, He is your father and he wants

the best for you, maybe he is doing some things the wrong way, but then he wants the best for you."

I wonder how come she is very easygoing I thought she would be mad at him but then look at her

defending him, and the funniest part is I see sense in what she is saying.

"Okay, thank you."

"It's fine."

"Can I ask you one more thing?"

"Sure."

"How are you feeling about Nora?, Like what happened between you two?" I asked hoping she won't

get mad at me for asking.

"Nora, that lady, almost sent me to a psychiatrist, like she made school and life hell for me at that time,

Alex I wanted to die."

"Was she that harsh on you?"

"Alex she even tried to suffocate me, she told everyone it was an accident, I don't know what I did to

her till today, she kept bullying me, everyone in school love her and since she didn't like me everyone

didn't like me, only a few people like and talk to me, that is why my brothers are overprotective, you

know they don't trust me with myself sometimes."

"I'm sorry about what she did," I said holding her hands

"You don't even know her that well, it's okay."

"Let's go to bed early."

"Sure."

I got under the cover but Tracy slept on the cover, I waited for minutes thinking she'd get under the

cover but she didn't.

"What are you doing?"

"Sleeping."

"You are not under the cover," I stated

"I know."

"Seriously, get under the cover and stop messing around," I said sitting up, she sat up too

"Okay, but there is an extra pillow so I'd put it in between us." She said after getting under the cover, I

grabbed the third pillow and flung it towards the door.

"Now there is no extra pillow."

"Why did you do that?!"

"Just because, now let's sleep, and don't even try to sleep too far from me."

"I didn't promise, you only told me to promise but I didn't."

"Wow"

"Yeah wow, not like I'm planning, I'm just really tired and I want to cuddle," I said and she stared at me

for a minute or two like she was trying to decide.

"Good night." She said laying down, when I laid close to her she didn't protest, I hugged her closer to

me, Tracy smells nice.
