He could not hit her
Furious, Nina stood up angrily and pointed at him. “Could you please listen to me first? I’m not running away from you or this marriage. This place is located on the outskirts of the city and is almost a few hours away from the college. There are no taxis or cabs available nearby either. Next month I would enter the internship period. Do you expect me to spend my entire day traveling back and forth?”
“There are dozens of cars parked in the garage. Take whichever you want with you.”
“How’s it the same? Do you have any idea how much time would it take me to travel?”
“Not my business.”
Nina was speechless. “Then don’t even bother about where I live. Also, I’ve agreed on this marriage because I’m grateful to you for saving me and want to give this marriage a try. But that does not mean you can intimidate me or boss me around. If you want this marriage to work, then you should learn to respect your partner, too. If you can’t even do the bare minimum, then don’t blame me for pushing you away.”
With that, she stormed upstairs.
It had to be said that whenever Nina was pissed, she’d say whatever came to her head, without a filter.
Then, it did not matter even if the person in front of her was the president. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
Her outburst stunned Jayden so much that he did not even blink.
The few servants who were cleaning the room did not even dare to breathe too loudly. Why didn’t anyone warn them before that their young madam was so explosive? Not only did she dare to argue with the young master, but she also raised her voice at him.
Jayden clenched his fists and the muscles in his body tensed. With every ounce of his self-control, he reminded himself to stay calm and rational.
She was his wife. He could not kill her.
After taking three consecutive deep breaths, he managed to control his anger but somehow felt at a loss when he thought about her words.
I want to give this marriage a try.
Did she mean when she said that? Could he believe her words? Or was it just another one of her tricks to placate him?
With a frustrated groan, he reached out in his pocket and retrieved his cell phone. After typing a series of words on it before putting it back.
He glanced at the empty staircase, his eyes darkening.
A few hours later.
Knock!
Nina opened the door and was greeted by Ms. Eva.
“Madam, master has asked me to help you pack the stuff.” Ms. Eva informed politely.
Nina’s eyes immediately lit up, replacing the previous scowl on her face.
Seems like her outburst wasn’t for nothing! He was genuinely considering her words.
She moved aside and let Ms. Eva enter the room before skipping happily to pack her stuff.
Because she had been staying at the dorms, she did not have many things to pack. After she was done with the last item, she pulled the zipper and dragged her small suitcase downstairs.
When she reached down, Jayden was nowhere to be seen around. She assumed he was busy with work and couldn’t be bothered with her.
It was fine, as long as he did not make things difficult for her.
The chauffeur was waiting for her at the door. He took her suitcase and put it into the trunk.
As the car left the estate, her gaze moved along the huge Alpina fountain and the beautiful maple tree.
A faint melancholy could be seen in her beautiful amber eyes, which even she did not notice.
An hour later, the car drove into a building complex and stopped in the parking garage.
Looking at the unfamiliar surroundings, Nina was perplexed.
This was not the way to the IDU dorms!
“Where are we?” she asked the chauffeur, who had already unfastened his seatbelt.
“Madam, Master asked you to go up first.”
Nina wanted to ask more but knew these people were tight-lipped and would not give her any information.
Keeping her doubts to herself, she got out of the car and entered the building.
As told, she took the elevator and arrived on the 39th floor. Aspen Tower was one of the most luxurious residential buildings in Spring City. The top floors were all penthouses whose market price amounted to seven digits.
Nina walked out of the elevator and saw many people moving in and out of the only apartment in the corridor. She paused for a few seconds before arriving in front of the door. Walking inside the vast 650-square-foot living room, her eyes moved around to find Ms. Eva and several other maids from Meadow’s residence.
As if sensing her presence, Jayden, who was standing on the balcony, turned around and looked over.
His body was leaning over the balustrade, giving off a lazy yet arrogant charm. With his hand supporting his weight, he beckoned Nina over.
Nina walked over on her heels. Gritting her teeth, she questioned him. “What’s going on?”
Jayden did not answer and instead looked below at the cars.
At this height, they seemed like ants crawling, one that could be trampled on with his feet.
The feeling of standing in a prime position as he looked down on others was something that couldn’t be described in words.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” He suddenly asked.
“Excuse me?”
He turned his head to look at her and then replied. “The view.”
Nina agreed it was beautiful, but she was in no mood to admire the scenery. She took a few steps forward until she was in front of him and asked. “Can you tell me what’s going on?”
“Didn’t you say that you had trouble living in the villa because it was too far from your university? Hence, I purchased this apartment near the university. We’ll be living here from now on.”
Nina was once again rendered speechless by him.
The world of the rich was inhumane. At this thought, she vowed herself that one day she would become rich and powerful, and command him just like he did to her.
Seeing her dejected expression, Jayden extended his slender and broad palm to pinch her chin, forcing her to look at him. “Don’t forget that you belong to me now. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There’s a limit to my patience. As long as you stay obediently by my side, I can give you everything in this world. But if you dare to have extra thoughts…” his thumb traced the area which had turned red and narrowed his eyes. “You’re a smart person.”
—
In front of the large vanity mirror, Nina’s lithe figure stood lazily as she applied some lip gloss to her lips. Her eyes glanced at the figure behind her, who was leaning on the door.
After all the farce, she accepted her fate and decided to get along harmoniously with her husband. As he had said earlier, if he was happy, she would be happy.
“Like what you see?” she teased when she saw his scorching gaze sizing her up and down.
“Uh-huh,” He admitted graciously. “But it’d be better if there’s nothing on.”
The girl in front of him was tall but skinny. Despite her petite figure, she had voluminous curves and a perky butt. On second thought, he felt there was something amiss.
“What?” Nina asked when she saw him frown.
Jayden shook his head. “It feels like I’ve married a child.”
After all, they had an age gap of eight years! He never felt it was a problem, but now he suddenly felt a little… old.
Nina snorted. “It’s only now that you realize?”
He did not answer and walked inside the room. “Wait for me at the dining table.” He said, removing his black t-shirt.
Looking at his sexy toned abs and the v-line, Nina clicked her tongue. The feeling of her hands all over them was as clear in her memories.
Clad in his black suit, he went downstairs to the dining room for breakfast.
Nina stared at him. Her pair of clear, big eyes glared at him in resentment.
Because she was often starved until she started earning, she could suffer any grievances except for hunger.
But from Jayden’s perspective, her fierce expression seemed like that of a kitten acting coquettishly. He caressed her head and apologized. “Sorry to have kept you waiting.”
Breakfast was served, and the two of them started eating.
Perhaps it was because she no longer had to fight for food or worry about her meals. She drank an extra bowl of soup.
