The Billionaire’s Pretend Fiancée

The deadbeat dad

Lana’s POV

“I still can’t believe Roman had the audacity to embarrass you in front of that gold digger.” My best friend, Jessica Coleman said as the maid poured us two glasses of iced whiskey.

“That bastard will pay for his actions, and I really mean it. I’m going to take the most important thing in his life away from him, then he’d have no option but to return to me.” I giggled, but my short moment of manic excitement was cut short by the maid’s clumsiness.

She had tripped and in the process–she had broken the half-filled bottle of whiskey.

“Please pardon my mistake this once, Madam Lana. I didn’t look where I was going, ma.” She knelt, begging profusely and not daring to look me in the eye.

“You stupid imbecile, is that bottle too heavy for you to carry? Do you know how expensive that whiskey is? Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you use your miserable, meager salary to pay for it, now get your useless self out of my sight, fool!” I barked, and she cowered but nevertheless, she scrambled off the floor and scurried away with the glass shards.

“She’s a very stupid girl, that one. She doesn’t even know the value of money, she thinks because she gets to have breakfast, lunch and dinner in my house, she can do whatever she wants.” I gruffed.

“That’s what happens when you give lowlifes too much liberty, they begin to think that they are also part of us, useless girl. Don’t let her stupidity get on your nerves.” Jessica replied, to which I huffed.

“What was I even saying before that girl interrupted us with her clumsiness?”

“Something about making Roman regret embarrassing you.” She supplied, and I nodded.

“Right. I’ve got everything planned, I’m just waiting for the right moment to strike, I want to cause Roman double the agony he caused me. I will make him wish he never left him, I will destroy him.” I chuckled to myself as I brought the glass of whiskey to my lips.

“Care to let me in on your plans?” Jessica prodded, and I responded by shaking my head in negation.

I watched, amused as she rolled her eyes, “Why? I’m really curious, Lana.”

Jessica was the loudest chatterbox I knew, and the only reason I kept her as my best friend was because she knew other chatterboxes that gave her legit information about the latest happenings.

If I made the grave mistake of telling her about my plans, she would ruin it for me by announcing it to the whole of America.

“The plan is not really done yet, sugar. When it is, you’d be the first one to know. After all, you also have a big role to play in that plan.” I fibbed.

Her eyes instantly lit up with a grin. “Really? I have a role in your plan? Oh my goodness, now I really can’t wait to find out what it is.”

“Yeah, babe. You do.” I lied again, and her grin widened.

She was just so gullible and clueless.

It was so easy to fool her because she had the brain of a cockroach.

The only thing she knew how to do was sleep with men who held high positions in the government–to fund her lavish lifestyle.

Unlike me, she wasn’t privileged to be born with a silver spoon in her mouth.

Even though my deadbeat of a father had abandoned my mum and I after my birth, I still grew up in a rich household because my grandparents were very wealthy.

My brows furrowed in a frown, as a maid walked toward me and bowed.

“What do you want?” I snapped.

“Madam Lana, the chairman would like to see you in his study.” She replied.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance as a hiss escaped my lips.

What the hell did he want now? I had almost forgotten he was in the house.

I had no idea what he was even doing in the house, since he had told me the mansion belonged to me and he wanted to stay out of my way.

He was never a man of his words.

“I’ll be right back, Jessie. Let me go see to what the old man wants.” I said.

“Sure, I’ll wait.”

I nodded before walking past the maid to the study while willing my countenance to seem less disgusted.

I inhaled deeply before knocking on the door twice and pushing it open.

He was sat behind his desk with a smile on his face and a phone placed against his ear.

I took a seat in front of him and waited for him to finish his call as I looked around the study to entertain myself.

Although I had been staying in the house for almost a month, that was the first time I was entering the study and based on how boring the atmosphere was, I didn’t think I was going to go back there out of my own free will.

On his desk was a shiny silvery nameplate which had his name; Alexander Guilon, inscribed on it.

“Hey, princess.” He grinned. “How have you been?”

“Don’t call me that, we are not close. Just because you gave me a place to stay doesn’t mean I’ve accepted you as my father.” I snapped.

“I’m sorry, Lana. I know I will never be able to fully atone for being a deadbeat but I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me one day.” He said, guilt evident in his countenance.

I just rolled my eyes in response, “Did you call me here for this?”

“No, dear. Of course not, I have a gift for you. Do you remember when I told you that I would do everything I could to make it up to you?”

I frowned but nonetheless, I nodded. “Yeah, what about it?”

“Take a look at that envelope.” He said, motioning to the brown envelope he slid toward me.

I darted him a confused look before obliging his statement. My confusion grew further when I saw the contents of the envelope.

It was a receipt for a 10 carats diamond ring which dated back to ten months ago.

“Okay, what am I supposed to do with this?” I asked, brandishing the paper in my hold.

“Oh, my bad. I wasn’t supposed to show you that.” He threw me a sheepish look before pushing another envelope toward me.

I shook my head before opening the envelope and the content made me smile; it was a marriage contract that stated Sofie would get fifty percent of his wealth when they got married and a strange signature which I deduced was Sofie’s was also inscribed at the bottom of the document.

But then something struck me, what could that even do?

“I know you’re probably confused about this but I’ll explain everything to you. I will take this to Roman and have him believe Sofie and I used to have something together, I hired the best signature forger in the whole of America for this.” He explained and I felt immense happiness pool inside me.

“You don’t have to worry about anything, your dad will take care of everything. You want that Giovanni boy, don’t you?” He continued, to which I nodded eagerly.

“I do, dad. I really do.” I said.

“Y-you called me dad.” He stammered, and I fought the urge to roll my eyes at his glee.

“Yes, dad. You’re my dad after all.” I feigned a smile.

“By the way, dad. I also have a plan that I’d need your help for. I want to get that leech out of Roman’s life as soon as possible.” I said.

“Don’t worry about a thing, flower. I’ll do everything you want as long as it makes you happy.” He reached forward to hold my hand.

I just smiled through my teeth, as I stylishly eased my hand out of his hold.

Maybe my deadbeat dad could really be useful after all.
