Chapter 335: Love in the moonlight II
Lyla
"I'm sorry," I managed between sobs. "I'm sorry about how I acted the day Nathan died. I never blamed you for what happened to him. I blame myself more than anything." The tears continued to flow as I clutched his shirt. "I hope we can stop fighting. I need you, Ramsey. I need you so much."
"Shh," he soothed, stroking my hair. "You have me. You've always had me."
"I know," I hiccupped, still crying. "I'm sorry… I am, I swear."
I cried for the longest time, pouring out my pent-up frustrations until I was spent. I sagged against his chest until the tears finally subsided. Ramsey tilted my face up to his. "Is that what's been bothering you? You thought I was angry about Nathan?"
I couldn't tell him the truth—not all of it- so I nodded, letting him believe this simpler explanation.
He brushed a tear from my cheek with his thumb. "I could never stay angry with you, Lyla. We've all made choices we regret. What matters is that we're together."
The tenderness in his voice threatened fresh tears. I rose on tiptoe and pressed my lips to his, needing to feel connected to him, to ground myself in something real and true when everything else felt like shifting sand.
His response was immediate and electric. What began as comfort transformed into raw desire as his mouth claimed mine hungrily. His tongue swept inside, tasting, exploring, demanding a response I was eager to give. My body arched against his, fitting perfectly as though we were two pieces of the same whole.
The garden was secluded, hidden by tall hedges and the gathering twilight. Ramsey backed me against the trunk of a flowering tree, one hand tangling in my hair while the other slid beneath my shirt to touch my bare skin. His palm was hot against my waist, fingers splaying possessively over my ribs, just beneath my breast.
"I need you," he growled against my mouth, the words vibrating through me like a physical touch. "Let me make love to you, Lyla."
His lips travelled down my neck, teeth grazing the sensitive spot where it met my shoulder. I gasped, my head falling back against the tree trunk as pleasure coursed through me. His hand finally moved higher, cupping my breast, thumb circling the sensitive peak through the thin fabric of my bra.
"Ramsey," I breathed, my fingers digging into his shoulders.
I tugged at his shirt impatiently, needing to feel his skin against mine. He pulled back just long enough to yank it over his head, then returned to me with renewed hunger. My hands explored the hard planes of his chest, tracing the defined muscles, following the trail of dark hair that disappeared beneath his waistband.
"Someone might see," I whispered as his hands worked at the fastening of my pants.
"Let them," he replied, his voice rough with desire. "You're mine. Let them all see."
The possessiveness in his tone sent a thrill through me. He lifted me effortlessly, and I wrapped my legs around his waist, feeling the hard evidence of his need pressed intimately against me even through our remaining clothing.
His mouth reclaimed mine in a kiss that left no doubt about his intentions. One hand supported my weight while the other pushed my shirt up, exposing my skin to the cool night air. His lips followed, trailing fire across my collarbone, down to the swell of my breasts. When his mouth closed over one peak through the lace of my bra, I had to bite my lip to keep from crying out.
The rough bark of the tree pressed against my back as Ramsey shifted, supporting me with his hips while his hands worked to remove the barriers between us. I helped, impatient now, needing to feel him with nothing between us. When he finally pushed inside me, we both froze for a moment, overwhelmed by the intensity of our connection.
"Look at me," he commanded softly.
I opened my eyes to find his gaze locked on mine, filled with such love and desire that it threatened to break me all over again. He began to move, setting a rhythm that was both tender and demanding. Each thrust sent waves of pleasure coursing through me, building steadily toward a peak I could already sense would be overwhelming.
My body responded instinctively, matching his movements, taking him deeper. His breathing grew ragged, his pace more urgent. One hand gripped my hip, guiding my movements, while the other cupped my face, keeping our eyes connected.
"You're everything to me," he whispered fiercely. "Everything."
The emotion in his voice pushed me closer to the edge. I clung to him, my fingers digging into the muscles of his back, my legs tightening around his waist. The tension built impossibly higher, my body arching against his as I sought release.
When it came, it crashed over me like a wave, robbing me of breath, of thought, of everything except the sensation of Ramsey and the pleasure spiralling through my core. I bit down on his shoulder to muffle my cries as my body pulsed around him.
He followed moments later, his movement breaking as he buried his face in my neck, as he growled my name. I felt his release, the shuddering of his powerful body as he gave himself over to pleasure completely.
We remained joined for long moments, our bodies trembling with aftershocks, our breathing slowly returning to normal. Ramsey's forehead rested against mine, his eyes closed, in contentment.noveldrama
Eventually, he set me down, grinning from ear to ear. "There's something about sex in the garden," he murmured, as his eyes twinkled with mischief. "It's always better than the bedroom."
"Don't be vulgar," I murmured, hitting him playfully. "We've not had a lot of sex these days. We've been so busy."
"After this is over, we're taking a break. I need you alone. No disturbances… just you and me… and…" he shrugged, his eyes darting to my intimate area.
I blushed red and jabbed his ribs again, making him laugh.
We straightened our clothing in comfortable silence, exchanging occasional smiles and gentle touches. As Ramsey helped me smooth my hair back into place, his expression turned serious.
"Whatever's troubling you," he said softly, "know that you can tell me anything. No matter what it is, we'll face it together."
Guilt twisted inside me, but I forced a smile. "I know."
He cupped my face. "Is it me?" he murmured, brushing the tendrils of hair flying all over my face. "You look different, you smell different."
My heart thumped in my chest, but I managed to hide my nervousness with a loud laugh.
"It's the aftermath of the sex and happiness."
He smiled, but he didn't believe me. He didn't pursue the matter further. Instead, he interlaced my fingers with mine as we walked back toward the pack house. It was dark now, and the stars shone brightly in the sky like a warning.
The twin moons would rise in three days, bringing a confrontation of centuries in the making.
A confrontation I now understood had been set in motion long before my birth, with players and stakes far beyond what I'd imagined.
I squeezed Ramsey's hand, taking comfort in his presence while I could. The truth would come out eventually—about the babies, about my heritage, about the sacrifice the prophecy demanded. But for tonight, I would protect him from that burden.
For tonight, I would cherish what might be our last moments of peace before the storm broke.
As we neared the pack house, I noticed a group of people gathered in front, talking in whispered tones. When we drew near, what I thought was a group of people were warriors, dressed battle-ready; they were about fifty. Not so much, but they were in strange colours, different from those I've seen around the White Mountain region.
"The Lycan Leader is here," Seth's voice rang out. Immediately, the warriors grouped themselves and stilled. Ramsey continued walking until we stood before someone who had some sort of hood on, but their back was turned against us.
When the person turned, I felt Ramsey freeze beside me.
"Hello, Ramsey. It's been a while."
What do you think?
