Chapter 96
Eloise was bummed out, not knowing how to comfort him.
Griffin looked at Eloise's face, and it overlapped with the woman he remembered. He shook his head, thinking he must be seeing things because he missed Louise too much.
After all, he was a public figure, so he quickly got his act together.
Griffin sighed, saying that Harvey had finally found a girlfriend who seemed like a real catch.
"Griffin, you only have eyes for Eloise. What about me?" Orlena pouted at the side.
Griffin couldn't help but crack a smile. He cuddled the little girl and tenderly said, "You already have a boyfriend. Why are you still clinging to me like when you were a kid?"
Orlena grew up abroad.
She used to ride on Griffin's shoulders, so she was a total goofball around him, like his little girl. Hearing Griffin's words, she smiled faintly and said, "Even if I'm married, I'll never forget you."
Griffin looked at her, his eyes full of affection.
If only he could find his own flesh and blood, he hoped she would be as adorable
as this girl! He would give her everything, the best of everything...
Eloise quietly watched them.
She thought that Griffin must really like kids.
He looked at Orlena as if he was looking at his own child...
Griffin's reason for coming back this time was to secretly find his daughter. He asked Harvey for help, and with one glance, Harvey got the message. He then told Eloise to go grab a bite.
In the small lounge, Griffin couldn't control his emotions and asked urgently, "Harvey, any updates on the task I asked you to handle?"noveldrama
Harvey had conducted a thorough investigation, but there was still no news.
He shook his head lightly.
Griffin couldn't help but feel disappointed. He carefully took out a thin chain from his pocket embedded with a pink diamond.
Griffin whispered in agony, "This is what she used to wear. I can't believe I'm seeing it again after all these years."
Harvey took the chain. He frowned slightly. That familiar feeling was back; he felt like he had seen it somewhere but couldn't remember. Maybe on one of his clients?
After looking at it for a while, Harvey handed it back to Griffin and said, "Griffin, don't worry, I'll keep looking."
Griffin patted his shoulder and said, "I have to consider Joan Lynch's mom's feelings. That's why I'm troubling you."
Harvey was taken aback.
Because he heard that name.
Griffin saw his expression and didn't say anything more, just chit-chatted for a bit.
After waiting for half an hour, Harvey still hadn't come out.
It was her first time at such an event, so Eloise got bored and decided to get some fresh air on the terrace. The banquet hall was on the 68th floor, and the night view was amazing.
Eloise leaned against the railing; she had a bit of wine, and her eyes were full of tenderness from the side view.
Max stood at the entrance of the terrace. He sarcastically thought, was it because she was thinking of Harvey that she had that look on her face?
Probably out of frustration, he blurted out those hurtful words.
"Congrats on being Mr. Horigan's girlfriend for the show! Custom-made clothes from luxury stores, jewelry worth millions, Eloise, are you happy with them now?"
He said those sarcastic words, but what he wanted to say was he could give her all that too. But now, there was no way he could say those words.
The night wind was fierce.
Eloise slowly turned around. Her charm was irresistible.
Max's heart suddenly hurt like hell, as if half of his body was numb.
Eloise looked down and gave a faint smile as she said, "Max, what does mocking me give you? A sense of spiteful satisfaction? If so, go ahead and mock me."
Max laughed and then he became extremely cold. He approached Eloise and was only a step away as he sneered, "Have you forgotten me so quickly? Can you accept other men so quickly and spend the night with them?"
His words were crude and disrespectful, so Eloise was very upset.
Max seemed to have forgotten that he was the one who betrayed her first...
How would someone like him understand what feelings were?
How would he know that she, Eloise, once desperately wanted to love only one person in her life?
What do you think?
