Chapter 266
At two in the afternoon, Harvey went to pick up Eloise from their villa before
heading to the kindergarten to get Linda.
"Linda, your mom and dad are here to pick you up!" The kindergarten teacher said with a smile.
Dressed in a little floral dress and topped with her curly brown hair, Linda
declared, "My mom and dad are taking wedding photos. I want to take wedding photos too!"
Laughter filled the classroom. The teacher chuckled. "Let's get you to your parents then." She held Linda's hand, feeling a sense of affection in her heart. She was a little reluctant to let Linda go when she handed her over to Harvey.
"See you tomorrow, Ms. Chelsey!" Linda waved goodbye.
In the car, Linda couldn't help but stare at Eloise's belly, asking, "Mom, when is my brother coming out? If I sleep, will he come out?"
Eloise didn't know how to answer. As Harvey buckled his seatbelt, he smiled and said, "It's going to take a lot of nights of sleep before your brother comes out."
Linda seemed a bit disappointed. But soon, she perked up and said, "My friends at kindergarten said their dads want to have babies too. Their dads try hard to plant carrots every night! Did you plant a carrot in Mom's belly, too, Dad?"
Eloise flushed slightly. Harvey was about to drive off when he glanced at the rearview mirror. His gaze met Eloise. He smirked, and a hint of teasing showed in his eyes. Eloise felt even hotter.
Harvey started the car, explaining to his little girl, "Your friends didn't quite get it right. You'll understand when you're older."
Linda seemed to believe him.
Harvey was focused on driving; he didn't say another word. His wife and daughter were in the car after all.
Half an hour later, they arrived at an upscale bridal shop. The moment the car stopped, the manager opened the car door and greeted them with a professional smile. "Mr. Horigan, Mrs. Horigan, we've cleared the place just for you. We will provide you with the best service."
Harvey nodded slightly. He helped Linda out of the car, who was ecstatic and bouncing happily beside her mom.
Upstairs.
Harvey and Eloise both went to try on the wedding dresses and suits they had picked out. Harvey quickly changed into a black velvet suit and a crisp white shirt underneath. He looked attractive and noble. A few young employees couldn't help but steal glances at him. Harvey didn't seem to notice. He sat in the VIP area, flipping through a magazine, waiting for Eloise and Linda to finish. Linda was the first to come out. She was dressed in a light champagne-colored puff dress, and her curly hair was neatly styled. She looked stunning.
She seemed a bit shy and snuggled into her dad's arms.
"The little girl is so beautiful! She looks just like her mom!" An employee commented.
Harvey looked down at his daughter, feeling a softness in his heart. He led her to a full-length mirror, and Linda looked at their reflections. She was beautiful! And so was her dad! Linda's eyes sparkled.
Harvey was about to say something when the dressing room door opened, and Eloise walked out.
Hr was momentarily breathless. Even though he had seen her in all her glory before, he was still taken aback at this moment. Her white wedding dress hugged her body perfectly, accentuating her slender waist. The hem was decorated with intricate and luxurious lace. Her long hair was styled in a loose updo, and she wore the pearl earrings he had given her.
She looked soft and beautiful! Harvey couldn't resist caressing her neck, and murmured, "You look amazing."
The employees blushed. The scene in front of them was enough to fuel their imaginations.
Eloise blushed. "We're not at home. Behave!"
Harvey smirked, lowering his voice. "So I don't have to behave at home. Is that what you're saying?"
At that moment, the photographer arrived, and everyone got to work. Eloise was pregnant, so Harvey only booked a two-hour photo shoot to avoid tiring her out. Fortunately, both the bride and groom were attractive, and the little girl was photogenic, so two hours were more than enough.
Afterward, the photographer looked at the photos and joked, "If it wasn't for Mr. Horigan's status, I would definitely use these as advertisements."
Harvey merely smiled. He patted Linda, then gently told Eloise, "Go remove your makeup and change. I'll take you out for dinner."
Linda loved eating out. She immediately ran into the dressing room to change out of her dress. While they waited for Eloise, the manager gave Linda a small leather ball to play with. Linda was overjoyed and kept bouncing it around.
Harvey was sitting on the couch, handling work on his phone. Linda came over, and her face was scrunched up. "Dad, the ball rolled in there!"
"Hm?" Harvey put his phone away, walked over to Eloise's changing room, and knocked lightly. "Eloise, Eloise..."
There was no response from inside, but they could hear the sound of the ball bouncing.
Harvey gripped the doorknob and tried to turn it, but it wouldn't budge. His heart sank. He immediately shielded Linda behind him and kicked the door open with force. The solid door creaked and crashed open!
The moment the door opened, Harvey's breath hitched. Two employees were tied to chairs, and their mouths were stuffed with cloth. Eloise was being held hostage by Joan, and a sharp blade was pressed against her throat. Drops of blood seeped out.
Harvey slowly uttered, "Joan!"
Joan was wearing the shop's uniform, which hung loosely on her frail body. Her face was haggard, and she emanated a sense of gloom, a far cry from her past glamour. Joan grinned, but it was a chilling sight. "Harvey, didn't expect me to get out, did you? I wanted to see you, but you refused, so I had to attempt suicide... Those fools sent me to the hospital, and with a little effort, I got to see you. Are you surprised? Shocked?"
She suddenly screamed, "Harvey, you're ruthless! To save your precious daughter, you almost drained me of my blood! Do you know the pain of having convulsions due to excessive blood loss? Of course, you don't, because all you care about is this bitch and her child!"
Linda started crying at this scene. Harvey said sternly, "Linda, go downstairs!"
Linda was young and cried out for her mother. Harvey kept his face stern, but his voice was incredibly gentle. "Be good, listen to me."
Linda's little mouth quivered. She looked at her mother. Eloise was in pain from being strangled, but she tried to keep her voice calm. "Listen to your dad."
With tears in her eyes, Linda backed away slowly and then ran downstairs. Joan sneered, "How touching!"
Harvey tightened his grip, and his star was fixated on Eloise before shifting to Joan. "What do you want?"
"What do I want?" Joan laughed manically.
She gazed at Harvey, and her eyes were suddenly brimming with affection. "I want to go back to the past! Harvey... the thing I regret the most was that reckless period. Can you forgive me? If you forgive me and reconcile with me, I'll let Eloise go!"
Harvey's face remained impassive. "Alright, I forgive you."
Joan threw her head back and laughed. Suddenly, her voice turned cold again. "You're lying! You just want to save this tramp!"
With that, she tightened her grip on the knife in her hand. Blood trickled down, staining her pristine white wedding dress.
Eloise's slender throat tensed. She dared not breathe, knowing that if the blade moved a fraction lower, it would be the end of her. She dared not call out to Harvey, afraid it would provoke Joan.
Suddenly, Joan laughed again. "Actually, I don't want to kill her! If she dies, you'll remember her for the rest of your life!"
She pulled out a syringe from her pocket. Inside, a yellowish serum. She tossed it at Harvey's feet and coldly announced, "Harvey, I'm giving you a choice! Inject this into your body, and I'll let her go! This is good stuff. One shot, and it'll end my pain! Because slowly, you will forget about Eloise. You'll forget your deep love!" She finished and laughed manically.
Eloise couldn't take it anymore. She struggled and yelled, "Harvey... don't! You can't take it, you can't!"
She wasn't afraid of him forgetting her; she was afraid that it would kill Harvey!
Harvey's Adam's apple bobbed. He stared at Eloise and spoke in a deep voice, "Don't move!" Right now, he needed to buy time. Joan was crazy, and any provocation could make her take Eloise's life. He loved Eloise and their child, so Eloise couldn't get hurt, even if he had to trade himself for it!
He bent down to pick up the syringe. His handsome face was resolute. "I'll take it!" Tears streamed down Eloise's face. "Harvey, don't..."
Joan's face twisted in excitement as she watched Harvey. "Do it now, or I'll take her life! 1, 2, 3..."
Harvey removed his coat and rolled up his shirt sleeves. His muscular arm, which had held Eloise countless nights, was now being pierced by the thin needle, the pale yellow liquid slowly injected.
Everything seemed to freeze. In Harvey's world, all he could see were Eloise's tear-filled eyes.
"Eloise, I'm sorry I always make you sad!"
"Eloise, don't cry! It hurts me to see you cry. This is nothing compared to the pain
I've caused you... it really isn't much... at least, it doesn't hurt much!"
"Eloise, the master said I have a shallow destiny, and I believed him! I was
anxious, but I didn't expect our separation to come so quickly!"
"Eloise, if I really have to reincarnate, I'll come back to find you!"
"Eloise, don't cry!"
"Eloise, I can't say it, but I think you know..."
"I love you!"
His vision blurred. Harvey saw the building across. There was something black,
and then he heard a muffled sound. Joan's head was blown off!
The doorway was slowly being surrounded.
Joan fell into a pool of blood, and her eyes were wide open. A corner of her mouth
even curled into a bizarre smile.
"Eloise, if I can't have it, neither can you!"
Eloise stood, covered in blood. Harvey dropped the syringe and walked towards
her, holding her tightly, almost painfully.
"I'm fine! Harvey... I'm fine!" Eloise lifted his arm. "How do you feel? We need to
get to the hospital right now!"
Harvey closed his eyes, whispering his agreement.
They reached the ground floor. Linda saw them, and immediately ran over,
sobbing. Harvey picked her up. His voice was hoarse and gentle. "It's alright, Linda. It's over."
Linda cried harder. Her mother was covered in blood, so she was scared and heartbroken.
Parker and Pauline rushed over. Harvey handed his wife and daughter to Pauline,
then followed Parker to the best hospital in Peterborough. Eloise wanted to follow, but Harvey insisted she stay with Linda.
Once in the car, Parker sensed something was wrong and pressed for answers.
Harvey leaned against the seat and said in a low voice, "Joan somehow got a hold of a serum that causes neural damage."
Parker's voice trembled. "You took it?"
Harvey remained silent, quietly watching his father. He loved his wife, but he had let his parents down.
Parker's heart felt like it was being ripped apart. He wished he could tear Joan tonoveldrama
pieces, but right now, the most important thing was to get to the hospital and check on Harvey's condition.
The driver drove fast, and they arrived at the hospital in no time. Harvey had his blood drawn and tests done. When the results came out, the doctor looked at the report with a complicated expression and turned to Parker. "Parker, can we talk?" Parker stepped aside and took a deep drag of his cigarette. He said, "Let Harvey hear it too! He's not that fragile. He should be prepared for the good and the bad." The doctor was silent for a moment. He pointed at the report and said, "This is a new type of illegal serum in the UK. It's non-lethal, but it damages the nerves, causing memory loss and migraines. As for how severe, we'll have to observe."
Parker closed his eyes. "Is there a way to reverse it?"
The doctor looked at him and slowly shook his head. Parker tilted his head back. Tears were welling in his eyes. He had always been
strong. He rarely cried, only when Linda was born. Now, his son was in trouble. There was a chance Harvey wouldn't remember his parents, his wife, or his child anymore. How could Parker not be heartbroken?
Compared to Parker's heartache, Harvey was much calmer. He remembered Master Lee's words again-You need to reincarnate in this world. Harvey spoke softly, "Dad, I want to see Eloise." If he was destined to forget, then
he wanted to love Eloise properly while he still remembered. He had so many things to tell her. Even if he had to start over, he wouldn't let her give up! No matter what he became, he always belonged to Eloise!
