In the past, while Lionel may not have been incredibly handsome, he had decent features and a fit figure.

However, now his eyes were sunken in, and his cheeks looked hollow, while his right pant leg hung empty. He was so thin he looked like a skeleton and seemed to hover between human and ghost, his entire appearance extremely frightening.

"Lionel, you're still alive! Oh, this is wonderful!" Victoria said softly.

She suppressed the malice in her heart, acting as if she was so happy she

wanted to cry.

"It's truly wonderful that I still get to see you again, Lionel!"

This idiot knew too many of her secrets. Although she had no idea why he wasn't dead, she had to pacify him right now and prevent him from saying anything against her!

A hint of disdain flashed in her eyes, accompanied by a hint of smugness.

That fool liked her so much that as long as she casually said some nice things to him, he would definitely be of use to her!

Yvette had miscalculated in trying to use Lionel against her!

"Lionel, why didn't you come find me if you were still alive? Do you know how sad I was to receive the news of your death?"

She stepped forward-her face a mask of concern and reached out to touch Lionel. If this was the past, he would definitely have been over the moon to be touched by her, yet now he simply gave her a cold glance and backed away, avoiding her touch.

When she saw him avoiding her as if she was some venomous snake, her expression instantly turned ugly.

How dare he treat her this way?

Her heart burned with fury, but she could only swallow down her rage for now. Her gaze fell on the empty space where his right leg should have been, and she muffled her gasp, deciding to change topics.

"Your leg... Lionel, what happened to your leg?"

At her words, Lionel's gaze on her turned even colder, and his expression showed a deep hatred.

"Do you know how I lost this leg? It was all thanks to you for stabbing me. I originally thought that I was dead man. However, I didn't think that not only did I not die, I woke up to myself left to die in a mass grave with a coyote chewing on my right leg!"

He had been poisoned and heavily injured, so weak that a gust of wind would've killed him. He had been able to feel the bone-deep pain from the coyote gnawing on his leg, but he hadn't been able to do a thing and could only watch helplessly as it devoured his leg whole.

Victoria's stab should have been fatal, but she had missed Lionel's heart by an

inch, which was what enabled him to survive.

What with being both heavily wounded and poisoned, if not for his will to live

being so strong, he would've died in the mass grave long before Yvette found him.

But even though he had been cured of the poison, he had also become completely useless.

When she met Lionel's hate-filled gaze, Victoria felt a little panicked.

Crap, this idiot Lionel was no longer as easy to cajole as before!

She bit her lip, then fell back to her usual method and looked at Lionel tearily, saying, "Can't we please discuss the misunderstanding between us back home, Lionel?"

However, now he simply felt disgusted by it. Whatever love he had felt for her then had now turned to hatred.

He hadn't hesitated to betray Wilson for her and had done all sorts of unspeakable things in her name. He had even been willing to give his life for her, unwilling to sell her out even at the cost of death, yet this was how she had treated him!

She wasn't some kind and innocent angel at all. All that kindness of hers was nothing but an act!

"Mr. Quinn, Ms. Murray, I was merely following Victoria's instruction when I abducted Nancy Smith, tried to kill you, and almost caused Mr. Quinn to fall off a cliff to his death!"

"Shut up!" Victoria yelled.

Seeing Lionel reveal everything, she became completely panicked. She was trembling all over, but still, she tried to turn things around.

"Why are you helping Yvette slander me, Lionel! Why are you treating me like this?" she cried out.

"You're truly shameless!" he yelled back.
