Chapter 839
Three days later, Martha returned to Quinn Manor to rest after being discharged from the hospital. Naturally, Victoria followed her.
The staff at Quinn Manor had clearly begun to treat Victoria as the future lady of the household, showing her the utmost respect and obedience. This only made her feel even more pleased with herself.
"Thanks to you, Ms. Olson, I was able to return to Quinn Manor," Jimmy said.
Victoria glanced at him arrogantly. "Mr. Lacroix, how are the things I asked you to do coming along?"
"Ms. Olson, I would never slack off in carrying out your orders!" Jimmy quickly replied. "I've had people quietly keep an eye on the company for several days. Mr. Quinn hasn't met with Yvette even once, and today, the eldest son of the Murray family stormed into the company in a rage.
"I heard that Mr. Murray and Mr. Quinn had a big argument-things got physical. I think it's because Mr. Quinn called off the engagement with Ms. Murray, which upset Mr. Murray, and that's why this situation unfolded today!"
A smug smile tugged at the corner of Victoria's lips, and her guard lowered as she became increasingly pleased.
"The Murray family is really unreasonable. Ms. Murray already agreed to break off the engagement, yet they're still causing trouble for Mr. Quinn!"
Victoria's smile grew wider, hearing the contempt in Jimmy's voice. Even so, she remembered to pretend to be innocent and understanding.
"This isn't Yvette's fault. If only Mrs. Quinn Senior had agreed to the marriage, Yvette and Wilson wouldn't have had to break off the engagement!"
Jimmy quickly said, "Ms. Olson, please don't say that. In my opinion, you're the only one worthy of Mr. Quinn. Mrs. Quinn Senior's refusal to approve of the marriage with the Murray family was absolutely the right thing to do!"
Victoria's mood improved even further at his words, and a look of determination flickered in her eyes.
Only she was truly worthy of Wilson!
It was time for Martha to stir up trouble once again. This time, she would make sure that Wilson agreed to marry her!
At Quinn Corporation, the two men who were supposedly at odds, as rumored, sat lazily on the sofa-one cold and noble, the other calm and reserved. Together, they formed an incredibly pleasing sight.
"Thank you, my brother, for agreeing to help me with this act."
"I'm not helping you. If it weren't for Yvie's request, I wouldn't have come."
Jacob still found the term "my brother" a bit jarring and let out a soft snort.
"Hurry up and settle these matters. Don't delay the celebration of Yvie's birthday! This is her first birthday back home, and I won't allow anything to go wrong!"
"Don't worry, I'll make sure nothing interferes with Yvie's birthday."
If it weren't for Martha being completely controlled by the hypnotizing fragrance, and to protect her from further harm, this matter would have been resolved long ago.
Mentioning Yvette caused Jacob's expression to soften. His eyes were filled with tenderness, guilt, and heartache.
Yvette had been missing for 18noveldrama
years, and this was her first birthday back home. It had to be grand and perfect to make up for the suffering she had endured all those years!
Thinking of Yvette, Wilson couldn't help but smile with affection.
Of course, he wanted to plan her birthday himself and surprise her in his own way,
but Jacob and the others insisted on sharing the responsibility.
Helpless, he had no choice but to organize the surprise together with them.
What do you think?
