Chapter 60 I Am Her Boss
Chapter 60 I Am Her Boss
The scene was too quiet for a glamorous and busy red carpet show. Everyone was trying his best to listen to the conversation among them. Now, the two outstanding men had already started the war!
"President Palmer, I told you from the start. I’m not interested in your anniversary celebration."
"Then goodbye," Sebastian talked back immediately, not willing to give Archibald another chance to say a word. He wished Archibald could get away at once! NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
His eyes gleaming, Archibald didn’t show any embarrassment of being asked to leave and said flatly, "President Palmer, Lillian isn’t the star of your media company. She signed the contract with the radio station, which means, she belongs to the radio station. She can’t walk down the red carpet with you without permission, let alone be your female companion."
Archibald’s words made both Sebastian and Lillian change color. They hadn’t thought of it.
Lillian looked down. She had just finished a legal battle. If she broke the contract again this time, she wouldn’t want to go to court again, even if she was sure to win!
Lillian moved her body slightly, as if she wanted to break free from Sebastian. But at this point, how was it possible for Sebastian to let go of her? He held her waist tight and said with his teeth clenched, "Even so, you’re not qualified to take her away from here, Archibald!" Sebastian didn’t call him "Young Master Hawkins" sarcastically anymore. It seemed that he was being serious.
Archibald appeared to be waiting for this. His frown vanished and he beamed with joy. "President Palmer, probably you still don’t know that, the contract Lillian signed with the radio station actually came from the Hawkins Group, so I’m in charge of her work." Therefore, the one who had signed the contract with Lillian was not only the radio station, but also the Hawkins Group, and Archibald had the right to take her away.
Sebastian was speechless for a moment, while Lillian felt that the whole situation was total chaos. So now, she could only leave with Archibald, right? She was fine with it anyway. In any case, Sebastian’s goal was just to have her walk down the red carpet with him, and to have the people know that she was his female companion tonight. Now that she had walked down the red carpet with him, and the people had taken the photos, she had completed her task, so she could absolutely leave.
Most importantly, she couldn’t offend Archibald. What he said just now meant that, "I AM Lillian’s boss. How dare she walk down the red carpet without my permission? Doesn’t she want her job anymore?"
Seeing that Sebastian went silent, which suggested that he realized he had no reason to make Lillian stay, Archibald stretched out his hand to Lillian, his eyes flashing. "Come over here."
The reporters naturally wouldn’t miss this scene and kept taking pictures. After a long period of silence, they started to work again. For a moment, those flashes lit up the night, making Archibald look like a radiant god floating down from the sky.
To the fans, Archibald looked extremely elegant. He was posing like a god!
There was a faint smile on his handsome face, and his eyes were dark and deep. He wasn’t acting in a domineering manner, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer either.
It was as though it was Lillian’s fault not to put her hand into his.
Lillian stared blankly at the hand stretched out to her. His palm was wide and thick, his joints distinct. His nails were well trimmed. He always made his intention clear, whatever he did. Now, Archibald really was going to take her way.
Didn’t she just stand him up for once? Was it necessary for Archibald to come over here to take her away? Lillian sighed to herself helplessly. After all, Archibald was too clever for her.
"Sebastian…"
"Shut up!" Sebastian interrupted Lillian fiercely. He didn’t care whether Archibald was her boss or not, nor did he care what the rules were in the contract they had signed. All Sebastian knew was that he couldn’t let Lillian go away with Archibald! That was a shameful thing to do!
"Lillian, try and leave with him tonight!" Sebastian growled through gritted teeth. It was more like a threat than a warning, and he stared at her sternly and ferociously. Since this woman was so obedient to Archibald in public, then what about in private?
Sebastian didn’t want to think about these at all, but he just couldn’t control himself. He thought of her understanding of Archibald, of the name she gave him on her phone, of the scene where she made small talk with people while in Archibald’s arms at the charity event, and of the fact that she actually asked him out for dinner privately!
Sebastian connected each scenario together and lost his reason. There seemed to be a pot of boiling oil in his chest, and a spark would blow him up at once!
Sebastian clenched his fists, on which the veins stood out. He was trying his best to suppress his fury. He couldn’t lose his temper on such an occasion!
Lillian could feel that Sebastian was holding his nerve since his whole face looked so tense. He was a stern person to begin with, and now he appears even grimmer.
However, Lillian didn’t understand. Why was Sebastian acting like this? Where did his fury come from? Did he think that he would be ashamed if she left with Archibald? Very likely.
"President Palmer, apparently, you were threatening her," Archibald snorted.
Sebastian couldn’t care less whether it was a threat or not. He just wouldn’t Lillian go!
"Young Master Hawkins, just leave. Lillian won’t go with you." Sebastian felt confident. So what if Archibald was Lillian’s boss? Did he think he could control Lillian as her boss?
He, Sebastian, was Lillian’s husband. If Archibald really wanted to compete with him in terms of identity, his identity was definitely more important than Archibald’s to Lillian!
"Are you sure?" Archibald drew back his hand and asked very softly. Then, he turned to look at Lillian, his eyes hard to read, which made Lillian’s heart race and her hair stand up. She had a sense of foreboding that something bad would happen.
What did Archibald want to do?
To outsiders, the three of them were in a stalemate. No matter whom Lillian left with, it wouldn’t turn out great. She would definitely offend one of them.
Helen of Troy, maybe this could best describe her.
The fans were sticking up for the two men. Why must they be with Lillian? What was good about this woman?
What the fans didn’t know was that, this was not simply about the issue of whom Lillian would like to leave with anymore, but of the two men’s pride and dignity. There was a secret battle going on between the two of them.
The air around seemed to be frozen. Archibald stared at Lillian and his thin lips moved, "Do you believe that Lillian will leave with me without hesitation as long as I tell her to do so?" Although Archibald was talking to Sebastian, his eyes fixed on Lillian.
Archibald’s eyes glinted wickedly. Lillian could foresee what he was going to say next but wasn’t sure about it, but she knew that Archibald could be difficult, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do once he
talked about it.
Sebastian gave a snort of contempt, showing his total disbelief in Archibald’s words. Lillian would leave with him without hesitation as long as he told her to do so? Did Archibald think it was the first day Sebastian had ever met Lillian?
"President Palmer, do you know that actually Lillian and I have already…"
"Archibald!" Before he could finish his words, Lillian threw off Sebastian’s hand desperately and rushed straight towards Archibald from his side.
It happened so suddenly that Sebastian was caught off guard. He stared blankly at Lillian, who walked hastily to Archibald’s side with a nervous face. This fucking woman actually threw off his hand and ran towards Archibald for real!
