Chapter 1222
He went to fetch the car.
While waiting, Noah, sitting inside, noticed the woman who seemed to have appeared out of thin air yet was known as the top enforcer of The Silent Ring. With a smirk, he asked, "Had a blast today, ma'am?"
With her skills, she was definitely a frontrunner for Black Pass. Historically, when the selection process reached its climax, The Silent Ring would shortlist three candidates and conduct a thorough investigation of their backgrounds. Only those who passed the stringent vetting could work behind the scenes. She had to be among those top three contenders.
Mia frowned slightly, "Yeah, it was pretty thrilling." With no fines and no one to stop her, she could go all out-it was liberating.
Mrs. Cedillo chimed in, "But it was so risky. My son ended up being a little sad sack today." Mia gazed sympathetically at her beloved son, feeling a tug at her heartstrings. "Oh, by the way, those were Dark Web folks, led by someone named Kon."
Noah nodded, "The boss is already on it." That afternoon, in the shadows, Andre had personally interrogated the group, uncovering the structure of the Dark Web and identifying who had been challenging him lately. He confirmed Maja's involvement with the Dark Web... They had pieced everything together, except for where his wife was.
Andre was more restless than ever before. Usually, he'd wait patiently to strike, but this time, after hitting a dead end with three questions, he went straight to action.
For the first time in many years, everyone witnessed Andre leave his chair and take matters into his own hands, his anger radiating through the room as he pummeled the assassins. "Where is she?"
The assassin was too broken to respond.
Andre looked up, briefly closing his eyes, and in the next heartbeat, another life was snuffed out.
His mind, despite being weary, relentlessly searched for clues, deploying every resource in Havenbrook, determined to find his wife and child at any cost.
"What were you guys talking about?" Andre asked as he got into the car.
Noah immediately clammed up.
Mia gazed at her husband, "Honey, you must have been worried sick. I'm sorry, love. From now on, I'll let you send people to protect me, and I won't argue about it."
Andre gently stroked the back of Mia's head, drawing her into a comforting hug, "It's all okay now."
On the way to the hospital, Annie borrowed Andre's phone and quickly tried to call Conner, only to hear, "It's off."
"He's on his way back," Andre assured her.
Maja quietly set down Andre's phone and softly asked, "Has he not made it home yet, and then..."noveldrama
"He just landed, found out about the kidnapping, and he's rushing back," Andre replied, retrieving the phone and telling Annie, "He really cares about you, a lot."
Annie looked down, a pang of guilt hitting her. It was his mother's death anniversary, and he held his mother so dear...
Mia, holding her son, used one hand to gently press an ice pack against his swollen little face, her gaze shifting to Annie. "Annie, you should give Conner a thought. His most talked-about person is you."
Whenever Conner showed up, it was always, "Where's my godson, Annie wants to see him," "Godson, comez with your godfather to woo your godmother," "Andre, my Annie, So what if she's fierce, isn't yourwife fierce? I just love Annie..."
Andre kept his arm around Mia, looking down at his son's sad little face.
Henry, nestled in his mom's
embrace, pouted, listening intently to the adults' conversation, trying to
piece together the relationships with his not-yet-two-year-old mind.
