Chapter 417 Let's have another baby
Thinking about this, Rachel felt very upset. She couldn't get it out of her mind.
"Are you jealous?"
Hiram asked, lifting his eyebrows. If he had known that it was so easy to make Rachel jealous, he
would have made up some rumors about himself. In that case, Rachel would have come home early to
get an explanation from him. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
"Yes, I am. I do feel sorry about what happened to Flora, but still...."
Rachel answered, making no bones about her feelings.
"Flora is just a friend of mine, who believes in pure love and disdains the deeds of having love affairs
with other people. If there wasn't an emergency, she wouldn't have come to me for help," Hiram
explained patiently.
"Oh, is it true?" Rachel looked into Hiram's eyes, not knowing why he looked so steadfast this time.
"But from your tone, why do I feel that you and she are more than just friends?"
The fact that he was so sure of Flora's feeling shocked Rachel. 'How can he be so sure?' she
wondered.
Rachel's words reminded Hiram of a thing that happened years ago. He looked out of the window and
said,"There was a chance for her to take this relationship to a romantic direction, but she refused it. So
I am certain that she is not looking for a relationship,"
Hiram said softly, sounding as if this matter had been buried a long time ago. In fact, he sounded like
he had nearly forgotten it until Rachel brought it up.
Hiram's words upset Rachel very much. She raised her eyebrows and said to Hiram very
angrily,"Hiram, then why do say that your relationship with her is perfectly innocent?
This means that you thought of her in a romantic way!"
Hiram turned his eyes to her and said,"It's not what you think."
"But how am I supposed to take it? You said you had a chance to advance your relationship with her.
What chance was it? I want to know it," Rachel asked in great interest, grabbing Hiram's arms.
Ben, who was driving the car, shook his head listening to the conversation. From this, he concluded
that one should never bring up former romantic stories to their current girlfriend, or else their girlfriend
would definitely start bombarding them with questions.
Since Hiram had brought up this matter to Rachel, he realized he was in trouble. Now Rachel would
definitely keep asking for answers even when they were home..
Seeing that Rachel had shown a great interest in his past romantic stories, Hiram decided to tell her the
story.
While saying the story, he spoke in a very peaceful and genuine tone.
Hiram had never been in a relationship with any woman before he met Rachel. This was not because
he had a low EQ, but because there was no one like Rachel who could turn him on and inspire his
masculinity and possessiveness.
During his early days, Flora could be counted as a good friend of his. She was quiet and well-educated
Some of Hiram's friends once joked to him and said that he could try his luck with Flora. Hiram, though
he knew that was a joke, agreed with a smile.
However, Flora refused his proposal.
In actuality, Flora said that she didn't like a guy who was in high position, instead, she preferred down-
to-earth guys who could cherish her.
After Hiram finished his story, Rachel looked at him with both of her hands clasped on her chin.
"There was one thing I wasn't so sure of before, but after your story, I am pretty sure of it," she replied.
"How so?" Hiram asked. He always thought that Flora was the kind of woman who showed no interest
in him, which was exactly why his relation with her had remained the same.
If he doubted Flora's feelings for him, he would have definitely kept her at arm's length.
"It's because I'm a woman. As a matter of fact, Flora liked you, but she wanted to draw your attention
with the words she said. For example, when she said that she wants a man who would cherish her, she
was actually asking you to do it!"
Rachel replied after she analyzed the situation. Clearly, this was a common tactic that women used to
get men's attention.
However, it could also be guessed from Hiram's indifferent reaction that he had no feelings for her at
that time. Otherwise, he would definitely have known the true meaning of Flora's words.
Since Hiram didn't have any feeling for Flora, he treated her words as a passing wind and didn't even
bother to contemplate over it.
After hearing Rachel's words, Hiram felt she was quite right and then said,"Let bygones be bygones.
After all, we have been friends for many years and I think I should do what a friend needs to do in order
to help her."
Hiram really wished to let the matter go. However, Rachel stared at Hiram in a pensive mood and then
said,"Hiram, if you could travel back in time, would you still love me?
I mean if I happened to meet you much earlier, would you still fall in love with me? Do you think so?"
Hiram looked into Rachel's glittering eyes and curled his lips into a smile before saying,"you said 'if', so
it's even not possible."
"Common, I want to know it. If I happened to appear in your twenties, would you still notice me?"
Rachel asked expectantly.
Hiram hesitated for a little while before saying,"I think, I may."
"Then what would happen next?"
"Nothing."
"What?" Rachel looked at Hiram in disappointment. She thought that he would imagine something
romantic, but he turned out to be a very unromantic guy.
Seeing that Rachel was so disappointed, Hiram added,"As a matter of fact, I am always sensitive to
things or people that I am interested in, no matter when or where. Even in that old shabby temple
where we first met, I still felt something deep down in my heart."
"Really?" Rachel asked, smiling sweetly.
"What do you expect? if I didn't feel something for you, how could it be possible for me to fall in love
with you in just a month?" Hiram retorted as he lifted his eyebrows.
Indeed, such feelings were very important in love.
Hearing Hiram's words, Rachel smiled at him and then took out her phone from the pocket, which had
been beeping for a little while.
"Rachel, are you home?" Emma asked on the phone.
"Almost there, what happened?" Rachel answered, as she looked around and found that she was just
one block away from Tulip Palace.
"Rachel, Nadia is crying for mother and we are unable to pacify her. Please come back quickly," Emma
said nervously on the phone.
In the background, Nadia's hysterical cries could be heard.
"Okay, we will be right back!"
Rachel said, before she worriedly hung up the phone.
"What happened to that little girl?" Hiram, who clearly heard the girl's crying on the phone, asked with a
frown.
Rachel sighed and said,"Hiram, how about sending Nadia back to Shirley? She is just two years old
and cannot live without her mother."
Hiram thought for a moment and then said,"I have already sent people there to investigate this case.
Since we have saved this little girl, we have to take responsibilities and should not send this kid back
until it is safe there. What do you think?"
Rachel nodded her head and said,"You're right. Since we met her, it must be the invisible karma that
bonds us together. We shouldn't send the kid back if she is not safe there."
After they came back home, they realized that Nadia's crying could be heard everywhere around the
villa.
And when they stepped into the villa, they saw Jonny was holding a lollipop in one of his hands and
scratching his head with the other one. It seemed that he had tried every means to pacify the little kid
yet nothing worked.
Joyce also gave Nadia a pile of her dolls. But Nadia showed no interest and kept ignoring their efforts.
"Hiram, Rachel, you are finally home! Everything was good with this kid yesterday, but I don't know
what happened today. She just kept crying for her mother." Emma sighed and then said,"She won't
drink milk nor water, and she has been crying for almost half a day."
Rachel walked over to Nadia, who was crying on the floor and then hugged her before saying,"Nadia,
be good and stop crying. Look at me."
Nadia, who was sobbing with her rosy cheek, opened her big watery eyes to see who was holding her.
After she saw it was Rachel, she immediately put her arms around her.
"boohoo! Aunt, I want my mom, I want my mom!"
Rachel gently patted her on the shoulders and said,"Okay, Nadia, don't cry anymore. I will contact your
mother immediately and ask her to come to take you back as soon as possible, okay?
Stop crying sweetheart. You see, your brother and sister are all waiting for you eagerly."
Hearing Rachel's words, Nadia stopped sobbing. Then, She wiped away her tears and agreed with a
nod.
Jonny also came over and said,"Nadia, just take this lollipop, it tastes very sweet."
Nadia took the lollipop and said,"Thanks, Jonny."
"Nadia, you can keep this doll. This doll reminds you of me!" Joyce said, as she came over and gave a
cute pink doll to Nadia.
Seeing the reactions of her two kids, Rachel felt very satisfied and proud. They were so thoughtful and
smart that they would even take care of their younger friends at such a young age.
"You look so interested in babies. Why don't we just have another one?"
Hiram suggested as he walked over to Rachel.
