Spoiled by the Silver Fox

Chapter 620

With a smirk, Putnam gave a nod and then headed upstairs.

When the afternoon rolled around, and the Damon household was clear of guests, Putnam finally went to his father's study to spill the beans about his plans to marry Maddie. He didn't beat around the bush, just straight-up told his dad his decision.

Galloway didn't mince his words either and shot him down with a "No."

"Why not?"

"The Palmer family isn't exactly a top-drawer in the capital city. They just don't measure up to the Damon clan! You must pick a future wife from one of the big four families." The Ingram family had Camille Ingram, fresh out of college.

The Perez family had an illegitimate daughter. Even though she was an illegitimate daughter, the Perez folks still cared a lot.

The Snider family had Caroline Snider.

If push came to shove, he could even consider some of the families ranked after the top ten, like the Peck family.

Putnam understood his father's thinking, but he stuck to his guns: "I've made up my mind."

Galloway shot him a furious look, saying: "I'm not dead yet. Your decision doesn't count!"

Putnam felt a headache coming on: "Well, who do you think I should marry then?"

"Camille?"This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

"She's young, low-ranking, always butting heads with Sebastian and the others. Once Sebastian's grandpa kicks the bucket, the Ingram family will fall apart. She won't stand a chance against Sebastian. She'll be lower than the average rich girl." Galloway seemed somewhat convinced, quickly changing his tune: "What about one of Perez's illegitimate daughters?"

"Sorry, I'm not into illegitimate daughters."

"How about Caroline Snider? She's a real catch."

"If Zachary Snider doesn't wake up in the next three years, the Snider family will go belly up."

"What about Ms. Peck! The Peck

family has been on the up these past few years! Ms. Peck just returned from studying abroad. esa

She's a top-drawer, easy on the eyes,

and pretty capable! She'd make a fine future lady of the Damon family!"

Putnam scoffed: "The Peck family is more into the Ingram family. Angelina Peck has always had the

to settle for a girl that even Sebastian has turned down?

Sebastian and I grew up together. What do you take me for? Some guy who picks up other people's scraps?"

Galloway knew that Putnam had always been a proud guy. He wouldn't stand for this.

He thought for a moment, saying: "What about Clara? I remember she used to come around. Weren't you two pretty close? What happened?"

Putnam took a deep breath, saying: "Do you remember me having a girlfriend in college?"

"I do. Your sister mentioned it."

"That was the girl you just mentioned!"

Galloway was taken aback: "Why did you guys break up?"

Putnam said flatly: "We were together for three years. She cheated on me, ran off with some other guy. Do you know why I've been so dismissive of marriage all these years, why I haven't had a girlfriend since?" Galloway was stunned: "She was way out of line. She had the nerve to cheat on the heir of the Damon family! Was it because she had cheated you?"

"Yes, it was largely because of her.

She was my first love, so the whole thing really got to me. Her betrayal hurt like hell. Dad, I've developed a strong aversion to women. Just being around them makes me sick. It's pretty severe, I've even seen a shrink, but it didn't help."

His first time with Clara. He didn't see the blood stain he was expecting.

She explained that she had injured her private parts when she was a kid riding her bike. So there was no blood. He believed her because he trusted her.

But later, he caught her red-handed, cosying up to some other guy. This shattered young Putnam's world.

When he confronted her later, she actually claimed she was forced into it.

Putnam found her behaviour nauseating. He saw with his own eyes. The look of pure pleasure on her face as she called some other guy darling. Since then, Putnam's distaste for women had only grown.

So everything he'd said, he wasn't pulling the wool over his father's eyes. It was all true.

Galloway frowned: "Why didn't you tell me about this sooner!"
