Chapter 1056
Chapter 1056:
Jaliyah’s words echoed in her memory: “Eileen’s ladder is now…” Why is she still after the Aston family?
Clearly, Eileen had more power than the Aston family.
It was normal for the impulsive Jaliyah to lose to Eileen.
After a moment’s contemplation, Miranda asked, “Can’t I just confess directly? Why involve the police?”
“Oh, but I’ve brought them here specifically to arrest you,” Eileen said. “They’re waiting for their reward from arresting you. It’s quite different from turning yourself in. They’ve chosen money over credit.”
The more arrogant Eileen looked, the more Miranda’s irritation grew.
Miranda quickly decided to call the police. “Hello, this is Miranda Wasner from Alverton Hospital. I’m turning myself in. Jaliyah Aston isn’t pregnant—I faked the report for her. But it wasn’t my idea! She begged me to help!”
“Ma’am, please remain calm and clarify the situation. What’s your current location? I’ll dispatch officers to bring you in for questioning.” A stern voice crackled through the line.
Miranda gave the police her address. Within minutes, uniformed officers arrived, slapping cold metal cuffs around her wrists. She felt momentarily dazed. When she glanced up, the so-called plainclothes officers who had been behind her had vanished without a trace.
Her eyes locked with Eileen’s, her fury blooming.
“You tricked me!” she spat. “You found someone to pretend to be the police! You broke the law!”

She lunged at the nearest officer, desperation in her voice. “She hired people to pretend to be the police! You can’t let her get away with this!”
The officer’s gaze shifted to Eileen.
Before Eileen could respond, Bryan’s measured steps echoed through the room. “I arranged it,” he stated calmly. “The suspect is cunning. While my methods were…”
“Unorthodox, they were necessary. I’ll accompany you to the station and accept whatever consequences you deem fit.”
Eileen’s breath caught. She had orchestrated this, yet Bryan shouldered the blame.
Bryan’s voluntary admission twisted the knife of guilt deeper than if she had implicated him herself. The officers, placated by Bryan’s cooperative attitude, allowed him to drive himself to the station.
Bryan cast a disgruntled look at Eileen. “Aren’t you accompanying me to the police station?”
“Of course,” Eileen said, stepping to his side.
In a hushed tone meant for Bryan’s ears alone, Eileen added, “I drafted a self-criticism letter. I’ll send it to you; you might need to copy it at the station.”
Bryan’s eyes narrowed. “You knew doing this had consequences, yet you did it anyway?”
Eileen nodded. “Yeah. Even though Raymond’s men vanished earlier, I’ve already asked them to write self-criticism letters to submit to the police.”
Bryan was speechless. He had instinctively taken the fall for her, not knowing her meticulous planning.
