Chapter 32
Chapter 32
Chapter 32 She Can’t Defy the Law “Sorry. I didn’t do it on purpose.” She didn’t look like she was apologizing. It was a paper box, so it was floating on the water. It didn’t go far away and was in reach. As Claudia bent down, she caught a hand reaching from her side. Claudia sneered and turned around. Elva’s hand touched nothing. She slipped into the pool with a plop. Claudia caught hold of the box quickly and took steps back. Elva called for help as she was struggling in the water. Rosalie, who was standing to the side as an onlooker, covered her mouth and quickly shouted, “Help! Elva was pushed into the pool.” Her voice was resounding, audible to everyone in the Friedan family. Someone suddenly dashed into the pool and helped Elva out. It was a handsome man in a white T-shirt. He looked furious as his short hair was dripping wet. “Derrick!” Elva was about to cry when she saw him. “Claudia is so cruel. She pushed me into the pool.” A ser vant brought over a blanket to wrap Elva. Derrick, who had just returned from school, didn’t know what happened. He only saw Elva in the pool, so he was credulous. Derrick dropped Elva and turned to look at Claudia. He frowned when he saw her. He felt the woman in front of him familiar but didn’t know where he had met her. Claudia was curvaceous, with her hair tied up casually, revealing her delicate neck. She was so gorgeous. He wasn’t influenced at all and said, “Miss, please go to the police station with me now.” Before Claudia could speak when Derrick tried to send her to prison for no good reason, Rosalie spiced up, saying, “Derrick, she isn’t a nobody.”
“Really?” Derrick raised his brows. “So she can defy the law?” He majored in law as a doctoral student. He hated most that influential people defied laws.
That was why he kept a low profile and concentrated on his studies instead of involving himself in the affairs of the company. Rosalie’s words hit him. “I’m a nobody. But before you claim that I’m in the wrong, you can check the surveillance camera, Mr. Friedan.” Claudia kept her back straight calmly. “I didn’t push her. She wanted to push me. I dodged it, so she dropped into the pool.” “You mean Elva asked for it?” Derrick’s sharp eyes swept across her. “If you didn’t stand here, would she drop into the pool?” Claudia was speechless. Derrick’s loving eyes were as if covered with ice. Claudia didn’t expect that someone could twist the truth to such an extent. She lowered her eyes, both angry and envious. If her family were still alive, they would protect her like that. Pitifully, she had no family. She could only rely on herself. “Mr. Friedan, don’t you intend to check the surveillance camera?” she sneered calmly. Hearing her words, Elva had the heart in her mouth. If Derrick checked the surveillance camera, he would know the truth. “If the police need the surveillance camera, we’ll offer it. You can’t check the surveillance camera as you like.” Derrick came to Elva’s rescue. Elva heaved a sigh of relief. Derrick doted on her so much. If Ervin was present, he might check the surveillance camera first. Derrick was especially partial to Elva. Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
He had never lost any lawsuit, not to mention solving such an easy task. Elva wanted Claudia to be hated by the Friedan family before her identity was exposed. Thus, even if Claudia was proven to be Seraphina someday, she couldn’t sna tch anything from Elva. “Derrick, she is on good terms with Waldron. She’s Edmond’s ex-wife too.” She stressed the word “ex-wife”. Derrick didn’t care who Claudia was and insisted on bringing her to the police station. The commotion attracted the attention of others, including Thomas. Thomas knew everything when he saw Elva, who was dripping with water, confronted Claudia. He just heard that Elva’s schoolmate would arrive tonight. The findings showed that it was probably Seraphina. But Waldron spoke so highly of Claudia. To his surprise, Seraphina was found. But it wasn’t Claudia. Seeing Claudia confronting Elva, Thomas asked curiously, ” Ms. Lloyd, didn’t you leave long ago?” “Who knows! I saw her pushing Elva into the pool to a distance. Elva spoke up for me today. So she had a grudge against it. She is so scheming. No wonder Edmond divorced her!” Rosalie made things worse. Claudia tittered. They really thought that she was a pushover. “Mr. Friedan, since you’re here, you’d better check the surveillance camera. I also want to know why Ms. Friedan dropped my box into the water and tried to push me. Her ability to twist the truth really perplexes me. I don’t know when I offended her.” Claudia’s words made Elva embarrassed. “I’ve just returned home and didn’t know you before. Why would I target you? Claudia, it was you who pushed me!” Claudia laughed as Elva tried to twist the truth. “Ms. Friedan, it’s the 21st century. Do you think you can convict me just because Rosalie and you
colluded?” Claudia looked at Derrick. She said lightly, “You seem to be a successful lawyer. For a lawyer, the truth is the most important. Do you think you can frame me up just because she is your younger sister?” Her question was sharp and penetrating. Derrick’s bright face darkened. He was being partial as he thought Elva wouldn’t lie to him. But Claudia’s words reminded him of his partiality. “Since she wants to check the surveillance camera, let her check!” Thomas spoke and smiled meaningfully. Elva was worried, though she didn’t look worried. If the surveillance camera was checked, the truth would be exposed. She didn’t expect Claudia to be so tough. Rosalie was right. Claudia was horrible. Elva broke out in a cold sweat as she was nervous, Thomas didn’t think too much. He thought Elva was kind and believed that she wouldn’t frame up a person whom she had only seen once. He thought Claudia was lying. But he admired Claudia for her courage. She was the first one who had forced him to check the surveillance camera. He decided to give her a chance. “I don’t believe that my daughter would lie and frame you up.” He stood there confidently with his hands behind his back. Seeing Thomas’ confident face, Claudia wasn’t surprised. She knew it was natural for parents to be partial to their children, especially someone like Thomas. But when she was allowed to check the surveillance camera, she wasn’t in a hurry instead. “Mr. Friedan, thanks! Both of us will be at ease then.” Claudia sized Elva up with interest. To her expectations, Elva’s face was horribly pale.
