Chapter 1000
Chapter 1000:
But Allison insisted that Amya stay in the hospital for a few days of observation.
“You’ve been through a lot. A few days under observation won’t hurt,” she said, her tone leaving no room for debate.
“I’ve also arranged counseling sessions. Trauma isn’t always visible.”
Later, Allison approached Amya’s bedside, placing a bank card in her hand.
“This has four hundred thousand on it. Consider it a bonus for the work you did in Fleeingland.”
Amya was taken aback, staring at the slim card in disbelief.
“I can’t accept this. You already pay me a salary. This is too much.”
But Allison was firm, gently closing Amya’s hand over the card.
“Take it. It’s well-earned. With this, you won’t have to worry about expenses for a long time.”
For Allison, the gesture was more than financial; it was a step toward offering Amya peace of mind.
Having faced hardships herself, Allison understood clearly what it felt like to be caught in a web of uncertainty.
After the Fleeingland Lab incident, Allison had come to see Amya as family.
Amya might be timid, but she was meticulous.
She also possessed an unparalleled skill with computers, making her an invaluable ally.
For Allison, spending hundreds of thousands to ensure Amya’s loyalty was a small price to pay.
“By the way, if you can, try not to contact your parents anymore.”
She paused, her expression briefly betraying her inner conflict. Bringing this up had weighed on her, but some truths couldn’t remain buried.
For Amya to truly move forward, cutting ties with her toxic family was a necessary step.
“They’ve never treated you the way you deserve. If you’re worried about your future, stay with me. As long as I have a home, you’ll always have a place in it.”
Amya froze, her throat tightening as unexpected emotion welled up. Her nose stung, and she blinked rapidly to keep the tears at bay.
“Do you know everything?” she whispered, her voice raw with vulnerability.
Allison nodded solemnly. “I’ve met them, Amya. They don’t deserve to be called your parents. They’re just hopeless gamblers. You’re nothing like them. You deserve better, a fresh start, and I’m offering you one. You’ll always have a home here.”
Allison didn’t push for an immediate answer.
She understood this was a decision Amya had to make on her own terms.
With a soft smile, she said, “Take a few days to rest. I’ll check in on you again soon.”noveldrama
