Chapter 37 What Can I Do?
Chapter 37 What Can I Do?
Samuel left and Aaron returned.
Everything seemed to have returned to the origin. Aaron took the advantage and separated them
successfully.
But there was not much pleasure in his heart.
On the night of the showdown between Matilda and Samuel, she went to a bar to get drunk and was
almost bullied by the men in the bar.
Samuel left the United States with Sidney overnight, as if he could not stay any longer.
The next day when she woke up, Matilda sat on the balcony and stayed for a long time. She became
more and more silent day by day and quickly lost weight.
Aaron couldn't bear to see her continue to be depressed, so he quit his current job and took her out to
travel around the world.
The first station, they came to Tokyo, Japan. In a hotel of Japanese style, Matilda happened to see a
woman holding a child and stared at them for a long time.
The second station, they went to the famous Bulgarian snow mountains. Matilda said it was cold and
refused to sit with him on the sled.
The third station, Aaron took her to the most beautiful sea in Sri Lanka. Matilda covered her eyes and
burst into tears. Samuel said he would spend his honeymoon here with her.
She did not have these feelings when he was around. One they separated, it was painful.
Matilda grabbed Aaron's hand for the first time and said she wanted to go home.
Aaron’s heart trembled. Knowing that she did not love him, he agreed.
He was about to end this terrible trip and take Matilda back to United State, but she was ill the next day.
She got a high fever.
Aaron had to stay in Sri Lanka until she recovered.
In the country.
Samuel holding the sleeping Sidney in his arms gave a wry smile to Rebecca who came to open the
door, “I'm sorry, Rebecca, I failed the task.”
Her excited face became dim, but she was sensible and greeted Samuel.
Samuel looked bad. There was stubble on his chin, bloodshot eyes, and an air of exhaustion.
Rebecca carefully helped her sleeping brother cover quilt. Her father was lying on the sofa, with the
back of his hand tightly pressing eyelids. He was filled with a sad atmosphere.
Mommy did not want to come back with Daddy. Rebecca was also very sad, but she had been
displaced from childhood. Her heart at this time was empty, but she did not cry like other children.
She brought Samuel a glass of warm water and curled up quietly on the sofa, as if this would make him
feel better.
Everyone in the family was gloomy.
Samuel's insomnia seemed to be more and more serious, he could not fall asleep for all night. He
wished to tied Matilda up and hid her to a place where only he knew, so that she would not leave him.
It tormented him night and day, making him blame himself for his selfishness, and indulging himself in
such visions.
It was time to go to school. Samuel had to take care of his mood and sent Rebecca and Sidney to
school.
Rebecca was all right, but Sidney had been looking for his mother since he woke up. He did not want to
go to school, and even kicked and punched the teachers. Samuel shut him up for two days out of
anger.
After coming out, he made no noise any longer, picked up his breakfast on the table and walked out Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
silently.
He did not say good morning any longer. Samuel was upset, but what can he do?
He thought he was shameless enough and did not take Aaron’s words seriously no matter what he
said, but Matilda said she did not want to see him again......
Thinking of this, Samuel's heart was in pain. If Matilda's words were not so decisive, if there was a little
bit of room for turnaround......
One day, Sidney's teacher called and asked if Sidney got bullied. Samuel thought it was impossible.
The teacher was speechless, sent him a photo after hanging up the phone, and told him that it was
dangerous for the kid to have that thought. She hoped he could stop that early.
It was a painting, to be precise, a comic strip.
It was painted with a family of four walking hand in hand, and it marked father, mother, sister and
himself.
The second painting was of another man, painted black. He knocked down his father with one blow and
snatched away his mother.
The third was a huge version of himself, sitting the dark figure down on the floor.
Needless to say, the dark man was Aaron.
At best, it could only be considered as some childish fantasy, which was not worthy of the teacher's
special call for inquiry. It was disturbing that the third painting used a lot of red, which looked like a
piece of blood had been spilled. Even the adults were frightened when they saw it.
Samuel took Sidney home on that day.
Sidney carried his small schoolbag to walk in front, He did not want a hug and was not any longer
pettish and sticky, wearing a serious face.
Samuel pulled him after he put away his schoolbag, trying to enlighten her little son.
“Sidney, do you hate me?” Samuel asked.
Sidney pursed his lips and turned his head awkwardly. He had already known that some things could
not be achieved by crying.
Looking at his stubborn son, Samuel felt very sad. He said, “How about this? I send you to your mother
tomorrow, and you will live with her, OK?”
Sidney suddenly shook off his hand, screaming that he did not want that and then his tears burst out.
“No... Why should I leave you? I want Mommy and I want Daddy.”
Samuel’s heart was sour. He hugged his struggling son, sobbing, “It is my fault. It is understandable
that Mommy doesn’t forgive me. I don’t deserve to have a wife and children, sorry......”
Samuel's spirit had come to the limit. If Sidney was only longing for his mother, then he had the most
instinctive need for Matilda.
She was indispensable as air, as water.
He had already made up his mind and would ask his children’s opinion. If they would like to, he would
give all the property to his wife and children and he would go to a hospital. At least someone would
take care of him, it was better than that he took all the things himself.
When Rebecca back, it was already 6 PM. They sat on the sofa in the living room and had to make a
choice.
