Chapter 32
Elise’s POV
Pregnant: Alvira is pregnant,
It all felt like a sick joke when she said those words. I felt something twisted rise in me as my gut clenched, but I forced the bile back dowIL
Even as I tried to pinch the nerve between my hands to make me feel something. I still felt numbing regret all over my body. The cheers around the room erupted in celebration of her announcement loud enough that it made me feel deaf from it. It felt like I was trapped in time as the cheers reduced to whine noise, and for a second my gaze zeroed in on Rygan then to Alvira who grin widens from the crowd
Not only did she invite me to the rites ball to be seen as the villain who pushed her, she called to announce her pregnancy and show that she had really won. She had everything I wanted. And I was nothing compared to her. Nothing.
I tried to smile, but I just couldn’t, nor could I meet the gaze of pity on my friends that surrounded me. My hands were bound into fists, digging into my skin, but the pain grounded me: Alvira wasn’t done there.
“This is cause for celebration indeed,” she says with a wide grin “To be honest, I wanted to keep this a secret since we’ve been in danger for the past year, and with our alpha’s abduction after trying to save us from the Silver and Dark Night Packs that were planned against him, I felt skeptical about sharing this news,”
She noted, playing the part of the innocent frail victim and whole pack ate it up she cleaned the fake beady tears from her eyes. sniffling sadly, to give the people a proper show, and they were all falling for it.
Her eye turned and locked on mine, her gaze dark, and with calculating ears, she pointed shortly to me, “Especially since we had the Silver Night Pack daughter in our midst.”
“Alvira!..” Rygan snarled, grabbing back her arms that pointed at me. He tried to shut her up, but the damage was already done. The gasp from the whole room showed I’d been found out. Everyone knew that I was from the Silver Night Pack, and murmurs and fearful whispers erupted
Now everyone knew that I was from the Silver Night Pack, I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t know how to act in that moment.
1 felt Kaide’s hands on me, but there was no comfort in his touch. It felt like my skin burned from any touch as I yanked my arms away from his hands and exited the hall. “Elise, hey,” Kaide says, stopping me in my tracks as he blocks my way.
“M-Move, please.”
“I didn’t know that Alvira was going to do that; no one did; you have to believe me,” he called as he placed his hands on my face, easing my chin up until my gaze met his.
I could tell my eyes were filled with tears since I could hardly see his blurred figure until they ran down my face. “I’m just so tired, Kaide.”
“Let her go.” Rygan’s voice interrupted us. I could see a flash of anger on Kaide’s face in his words to his alpha, but Kaide still takes a step back, immediately obeying his alpha. I try to use my voice and gaze to beg him to stay, but his alpha’s words are more important and deadly right now.
We are left in the dark maze garden beside the greenhouse; only the night chirps of the crickets and my sniffles could be heard in our silence. “I guess my congratulations is in order I mutter out bitterly.
“Elise, I don’t know what you’re thinking right now, but none of it is true; I didn’t know Alvira was going to do that; I didn’t know that she was pregnant?” I completed his words. Rygan stared at me with a desperate plea in his gaze, It broke me beyond measure. If he really wanted me, why was he doing all this to me Why wasn’t he fighting? He couldn’t do that anymore because his fiancée is with his child.”This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
“Elise, I swear to you, I want only you.”
“This isn’t even my home: your people hate me, and as much as well, I do not deserve anything that I’m given from an enemy pack after what mine did to you,” I say in tears.
“And you cannot want me anymore, Rygan, not when you have a fiancée and child on the way; your people hate me enough already that I’m from the Silver Night Pack, and they all believe tried to hurt her, and I refuse to be the villain in your story,” I argue.
“You are more than that; you are mine.” he says with a comforting hand reaching to touch me.
“Do not complete those words; do not touch me, please. I need to think; I just need to have that time and moment alone, Rygan” I begged: I didn’t care if I was telling the Alpha King of the Blood Moon off or if he was the strongest beast in the realm, who could hurt me if he wanted to.
A part of me knew he wouldn’t do that, and a part of me knew he would never want to show me his beastly side or try to remind me of what we went through in that dungeon together.
“Please.” I begged again, and this time I could see the fight in his eyes simmering down.
“We can’t end like this. You know I won’t give you up, no matter what or where you hide. You know that says as he turns away.
you are
mine,” he
The moment he went back into the hallway. I let the tears run loose. Hot, untamed tears streamed from my eyes as I leaned on the tree. Its weight needed an anchor for my breaking and heavy soul as I slid down to sit on the rocky boulder by the edge.
I tried to stop my body from trembling further, but the pain felt like a sharp dagger plunging deep into my heart with each passing moment
I sit there for long minutes in the darkness, thinking about what my life would be like if I were a normal wolf that could control my powers and shift and never have to go through that with Kyren. I would never have imagined that this would be my life in the span of a few months.
With my head bowed on my laps while I cry myself to oblivion. I hear footsteps crushing dry leaves and approaching me slowly.
“Kaide, if that is you, I really don’t want to talk right now,” I say to him, but there is no answer. I immediately feel the hair on my skin raise up as I see a male standing with a mask.
Run, Elise, my wolf; tell me, run!
“Who the hell are you?” I could hardly finish my sentence as a heavy cloth mixed with the smell of something horrendous was pushed to my face, covering my nose roughly.
I fought and trashed to get it off, but I had inhaled a heavy amount that immediately made my bones and body lax to the touch. “And just like that, she is out, just like the mistress wants.hear one of the men snickering while I can barely twitch a finger.
My vision became blurry. I watched as they conversed in secreti We have to hurry and take her to the boat where the Red Bloods are. We can’t let the three beasts catch us. They called as they laid a black bag over me.
The last thing I saw was the masked face of one of the males before he chuckled. “Good night, princess,” he said darkly.
That was the last thing I heard before I saw black.
