Chapter 943
Mick blurted out, "That hacker taunted me with a message: 'Harm my Nathalie, and you're done for.' Out of everyone here, only you, Morris, have a childhood sweetheart named Nathalie."
Morris grinned, muttering under his breath, "Idiot."
As Mick continued, he suddenly realized something and fell silent.
Morris chuckled, "True, I do have a Nathalie. But I wasn't aware that Mick had wronged her."
His smile, however, didn't reach his eyes.noveldrama
Mick's expression shifted, and he said, "Ashley and I are business rivals; conflicts are bound to happen. But they're just typical industry tactics. Nathalie is too sensitive-if she can't handle the heat, maybe she shouldn't be in business."
Mick thought admitting his actions would show responsibility. He tried to play down his shady tactics as standard business practices, hoping to sway the others to his side.
But he underestimated Morris.
Morris said, "Mick, if Vincent Corporation's competitive methods are as sleazy and shameful as yours, they won't last."
By tying Mick's actions to Vincent Corporation's reputation, Morris made the company owner wary of Mick's behavior.
Mrs. Vincent was particularly concerned. "Oh, Mick, care to explain what you did to Ms. Nathalie?"
"Ma'am, it's nothing," Mick replied shortly.
Morris countered, "Ma'am, he's too ashamed to say."
Her gaze drilled into Mick.
Mick knew he couldn't dodge this one.
He sidestepped, "I just secured the West Bay project. Stewart Enterprise had a
design ready and a verbal agreement with the West Bay CEO..."
Jules laughed loudly, "In business, wins and losses happen. If
Nathalie's
Lnét
set about losing the
, she's being petty."
Jules declared, "You're not to blame here."
Mick quietly sighed in relief.
Morris chuckled softly, "The West Bay project is trivial. Losing it is
big deal. Nathalie wouldn't care bet
Mick you underestimate hero generosity."
"Enough. Since you won't own up to your shameful actions, don't blame me for seeking payback."
Mick scoffed, "Payback? From you?"
Morris's eyes turned cold. "Returning the favor isn't too much, is it?"
Mick stiffened, "I've done nothing wrong. What should I fear?"
Morris sneered, "Nothing wrong?"
"Remember Lydia from the Nightshade Club, Mick?"
Mick reacted as if stung by a wasp, leaping from his seat.
His face turned visibly pale, panic clear in his eyes.
Jules, intent on shielding Mick, interjected, "Nathan, let's not waste work time on personal stuff."
Morris toyed with a ring on his finger, a promise ring Jules had given to Kelly.
Jules saw the ring and felt as though Morris was threatening him, which greatly displeased him.
"Business competition, wins and
losses, it's all about skills. But Mick
drugged my Nathalie, trying to fuin her reputation. While I took away his dignity as a man-tit for tat, fair's fair."
What do you think?
