Chapter 189 What Matters Is Your Intention

“I had fun, just that I got a bit tanned,” Aurelia responded with a radiant smile.

When she was in Kenfort, she didn’t notice anything amiss. However, she only realized she had gotten a tan after the plane landed and went to the airport restroom. She didn’t apply any

sunscreen.

“It’s not that bad, Auri. You’ve always been fair, so you still look fairer than most, even when tanned.” Mabel always found comfort in observing Aurelia. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

I visited a long–time friend’s house the past few days and saw several of their daughters–in–law. I realize none of them could compare to Auri. Just by looks alone, Auri wins by a long run.

“Matthew, what do you think?” Mabel asked, turning to Matthew who had been silent for quite a while.

This grandson of mine has many good qualities, but his temperament isn’t particularly endearing. Just look at him brooding like that. I won’t let him off the hook if he scares Auri off.

Matthew’s dark eyes swept over Aurelia, taking in her fair and delicate skin. He agreed with his grandmother’s statement, saying, “Grandma’s right.”

Aurelia wasn’t particularly bothered about how tan she got. After all, having sun–kissed skin after a trip to the coastal city was proof that she enjoyed herself.

got some local specialties for you, Grandma. I’ll go get them,” Aurelia suddenly remembered the local specialties she brought.

During her first outing, she believed that the best way to show her real feelings was through the local specialties.

Mabel felt her heart warmed. “Auri is always so considerate of me, even when she’s out having fun.”

She had seen various local specialties, but what mattered most to her was Auri’s thoughtfulness.

With those thoughts, she shot another glare at her disagreeable grandson. “How many places have you been to, and have you ever brought me back any local specialties? Learn from Auri.”

The corner of Matthew’s mouth twitched from how baffled he was by his grandmother’s sudden scolding.

Is there anything Grandma doesn’t have? She’s probably tired of eating all the local specialties and doesn’t like the specialties from abroad.

His penetrating gaze swept over Aurelia once again. She had taught him a valuable lesson–often, the material things themselves weren’t important, but the sentiment behind them.

After having dinner with Mabel, Matthew and Aurelia went straight to bed.

The next day, they returned to Starry Sea Mansion. After changing his clothes, Matthew went straight to work.

Meanwhile, Aurelia drove her car to meet with Phyllis.

“Why did you buy so much? It must’ve been heavy to carry all these back.” Phyllis‘ first thought. was their weight upon seeing the local specialties.

Aurelia chuckled and said, “I purposely brought a large suitcase. Also, I traveled around by car, so once I reached the airport, all I had to do was check in the luggage. It wasn’t heavy at all, Mom.”

That day, Herbert was still in class and staying at the school dorm.

Xavier had been swamped with work recently and hadn’t returned home for the past few days.

Charlie had taken on several roles, each with an increasing amount of screen time. He practically lived on the filming set, so no one got to see him.

Phyllis was the only one at home. “Mom, I’ll be moving into my new place in three months. Once it’s all set up and furnished, we can cancel the lease on this place.”

Phyllis chuckled and nodded. “All right, we’ll do as you

say.”

“By the way, Mom, there’s something I’ve been wanting to discuss with you. I’m planning to set up a shop selling antiques and antique paintings. I’ll be dealing with the live streaming, so will you help me to watch the shop? I can go to work with peace of mind with you there.” Aurelia had been thinking about it for quite some time.

She knew that Phyllis was meticulous and determined. On the surface, she appeared gentle. Had it not been for her family background and encounter with Aurelia’s adoptive father, she certainly would’ve had a different and potentially brighter future.

Phyllis was excited, yet hesitant. “Are you sure I can do it? Over the years, I’ve either been farming in the countryside or working as a cleaner in the city. At my age-

“Age is never an issue. Only I have a say in how amazing you are. You can do it, Mom! Besides, we can do other things as well. Your cooking skills are great, your homemade pickled vegetables are delicious. If we adjust the recipe, we can even have a factory produce them for us…”

Phyllis‘ eyes welled up with tears as she listened to the future Aurelia drew.

Immediately, anticipation for the future filled her as if she had suddenly found a direction in life.

My children have all grown up, so I can finally start living for myself.

“All right. I’ll give it a try.”

The mother and daughter had a long discussion. After lunch, Phyllis remembered something. “I heard about what happened to the Leedon family. Luna had a car accident and is still in the hospital. They want you to take care of her. What do you think?”

capable of taking care of her. Aren’t they just trying to shirk their responsibilities by coming to me? If they had treated me as part of the family from the start and didn’t do what they did, I would’ve done everything possible to care for Luna. But now, they’re deluding themselves,” Aurelia said coldly with a darkened look.

Do what they did?

“How did they treat you when you were at the Leedon residence?” Phyllis felt her heart bleed as she listened to Aurelia’s words.

Even though Aurelia didn’t disclose what exactly had transpired, she could sense that Aurelia had experienced something unimaginably difficult.

The more she got to know the Leedon family, the clearer it became that they were a group of heartless predators..

Aurelia restrained herself from recalling her experiences before her reincarnation, telling Phyllis, “Mom, it’s all in the past.”

“I’ve always had an ominous feeling about them. They’re the type to stop at nothing to get what they want. They might even contrive a way to force you to quit your job. It’s best to be prepared, Auri,” Phyllis warned, recalling the phone call she received from Melanie, followed by a message on WhatsApp.

They are too much! They’re basically shirking their own responsibilities, expecting Aurelia to give up everything to accommodate them. What right do they have to demand that?

“Don’t worry, Mom, I know how to handle them,” Aurelia said, her gaze lowered to the phone in hand.

She was curious about what they would do and to what extent they would embrace their shamelessness.

“By the way, Xavier mentioned that he and his girlfriend will have some free time at the start of next month and plan to visit then. You should also make it a point to return and get to know his girlfriend,” Phyllis suggested.

Aurelia shook her head. “It’s his girlfriend’s first visit to our home, so I probably shouldn’t be there. It might make her feel uncomfortable. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future. I’ll just wait for Xavier to give me a picture of her. I’m curious to see what kind of beauty she is to capture his heart!”

She recalled when Xavier was in university, she once visited him there. Xavier was quite popular among women. She found herself surrounded by his admirers, each one eagerly stuffing all sorts of snacks and gifts into her arms just to stand out and gain his attention.

However, Xavier astonishingly didn’t have a girlfriend in his university years, claiming that academics were his priority and that having a girlfriend was optional.

He was the epitome of clear–headed and free from desire, breaking quite a few gorgeous women’s hearts.

Yet, Xavier had finally found himself a girlfriend.

After having a chat with Phyllis for a while, Aurelia went to visit Nancy’s house.

When Aurelia caught sight of Nancy, she was somewhat taken aback.
